Can you defend yourself against a 50/50 mixup?

If you ever get in a true 50/50 situation, the absolute best thing you can do is to commit to blocking one of them and punish accordingly. #scorpion_vortex comes to mind.

its not like her 50/50s lead to combos its 15% overhead or like a 9% low unless you eat the ms f4 in the corner then you will be combo'd and put back into the ms mix ups again.

It's the fact they're both safe, both leave you in an advantageous position on hit or block, and tack on an extra 9-15% on to an already ended combo.
But that's only one aspect as to why she's so fucking stupid.

the only thing at advantage on block is f1 everything is else is at least -1

Where did I say frame advantage? I said advantageous position, meaning you're in a good spot and still have many things to threaten an opponent with.

it's not necessarily the damage. It's the amount of options she has, the ease of initiating offense, 50% BNB'S INTO THESE MIXUPS, cartwheel can't even be punished by a poke at -3 (negative fuckin'3, are you serious NRS??), Ex cartwheel can be thrown out almost freely because she rarely needs meter for anything else. So they gave her all this and then thought, hmm let's give her a divekick so she can jump freely too.

dont talk dmg you play smoke you have resets dont try to say anything good sir.

if you throw out ex kartwheel freely you will get demolished by NJP into combos. you have to be smart with it.

and her divekick can still be AA'd by a few people i know smoke can aa it lao and baraka ermac etc. so no shes not safe to jump around.

im done discussing sonya here though this thread is about 50/50s not about sonya have a problem with her go to the sonya fourm and complain about it.

there is only a 1 frame differnece.... so no... you can't fuzzy guard it.
Well if you don't have the reactions for 18f attacks, then you can't.

But really the best advice is to block low and react to the overhead. It doesn't matter if the low is faster than the overhead by any means. The only thing that matters is that the overhead has to be slow enough for you to react.

If you have a 6f low and a 20f overhead -> block low then react to overhead
If you have a 19f low and a 20f overhead -> block low then react to overhead
If you have a 20f low and a 20f overhead -> block low then react to overhead
