UPCOMING TOURNAMENTS

There have been whispers of a major taking place in Alabama but nothing is confirmed as of yet, so here's some "satellite" majors with MK on the bill:

CEO 2011 - Orlando - June 10th-12th
MWC 2011 - Nashville - June 24th-26th
Final Round XV - Atlanta - March 2012

Raekwon187 hosts monthly tournaments in Birmingham, the next one of these is on Saturday, June 18th - one week after CEO, one week before MWC. Mortal Kombat 9 is on the card!

Nice to see that there's some tournaments in Orlando, Nashville and Atlanta! Honestly, I doubt I could even make it out to Charlotte, though. Damn responsibilities! :( haha

Oh, I live in the Birmingham area and am interested in having some more casuals other than the tournaments at Playover Games.

Hey guys, A.R.K. IV is coming up September 17th-18th in Jacksonville, AR! We are expecting ~200 people with games such as SSF4:AE, SF 3S:OE, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat 9, Melee, Brawl, BB:CS II, and more! Competitors are coming in from at least 6-7 several states to compete!

Note that our tournament is working on securing sponsorships from well known companies which will each be providing additional prizes and bonus pots for our tournaments. The Traveling Circus has expressed interest as of this time. Also, well-known regional modder DaRabidDuckie will be on hand to provide dual mods (PS3 <-> 360) for fight sticks.

Hey guys,

Total shot in the dark here...

I grew up in Alabama and lived there up until I was 25. I moved out to Caifornia 5 years ago and am coming home to visit over the next week.

I was hoping there might be some MK tournaments happening in the Birmingham/Gadsden area, but it looks like there is absolutely nothing. I'm really active in tournament play out here on the west coast. I competed at EVO and finished 9th at ReveLAtions, but I was really hoping that there might be somewhat of a scene back home to check out.

If anyone knows of anything please let me know.

Hey guys, first time poster here. Just letting folks know that there are about 4 or 5 folks incl. myself that play here in the Alabaster/Pelham area. We ususally try to get together on Thursdays from around noon to well into the night.
Most of the time it ends up being only me and one other guy; so needless to say, we've been looking for more people to play casuals with. If anyone's interested, hit me up!

Btw, we're into other fighters, too such as Soulcalibur and Tekken (not so much Capcom games). Right now we play mostly MK9, but if we had more people, we'd defnitely rock those games as well.

Found this thread and wanted let any Alabama MK players know that I go to school in the Birmingham area at Birmingham Southern college. I would like to come out and play some casuals if anything is happening within a reasonable distance.

Sup bama, Im throwing a tourney next month in Mississippi if any of you guys are able to attend it. Last time we had a few come from your state and hopefully we'll have more this time. I hope that some of you all can make this fun filled event, last time we had some of the best from around the south and Im looking forward to more this time around.

Hey every Tuesday and Thursday from 2 P.M. to 7 P.M. a lot of different fighting game players get together at Playover Games and Movies (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Playover-Games-Movies/97221487184) near/in/around Birmingham. Well I am the only Mortal Kombat player there and have not been able to get any games in so it would be great if somebody could come and hit me up for some games sometimes. I bring my own setup and always bring MK just in case.

Is it true that Playover is in a bad part of Ensly? I had considered going there awhile back with a buddy of mine who also plays MK9, but he refused to go to Ensly because of its reputation.

That is beyond my knowledge In my own experience however have never had any problems when I go over there. If you really are worried you can pretty much park right in front of the store.

If that's the case, and it's not that bad, I may have to make it up there sometime soon. I'm close enough where I could make it occasionally. Do you guys use primarily PS3 or Xbox setups? Also, what all games are normally played?

We primary play on Play Station. I bring my PS3 and my Asus every time I come. Besides MK there is always Tekken Tag 2 and recently Guilty Gear AC+.
(Well there is never MK, but if you come there could be.)

Hey I'm in Jacksonville Alabama, and I have a 360. I'd love to play some offline matches with anyone in the near area. I'm around the JSU campus. I can't find a fighting game scene out here at all. Not for MK9 anyway. I'd also love to play MK1, 2, and UMK3.
