Ok guys,
Recently I posted a reply in the "MLG Dallas Announcement - Mortal Kombat Now Confirmed!" thread stating that I would be creating an all new thread solely devoted to me getting to MLG. This is that thread.
I know that I'm relatively unknown on TYM and the few times that I have popped up it's generally to pop-off about something or other. Other than placing 7th in @Pig-Of-The-Hut's online tourney. That aside I'd love to start off by saying that; in the short time I have been on TYM I've grown to love the community. One of the main reasons for this love is held in everyone's desire to help a fellow fighter in need, even through the "civil war-istic" state most seem to be in as of late. Normally, I'm not normally one to ask for assistance or hand-outs as my foolish pride tends to get in the way all too often. So, if TYM allows, I'd like to put aside my loner tendencies and become part of this amazing family. I know, I know.... Hell of a way to to enter a team; showing up a week late, and asking for a handout. But I've sat back, thought a lot, weighed my options, and see no other means of meeting some of my favorite players, as-well as introducing myself to the offline community. That being said, I'll get down to business.
First off and preferably:
Is anybody crossing through New Mexico on their way to Dallas with room to spare in their vehicle? Unfortunately, for me, MK is a dead sport in my state ('sall about maahvel here) and while I'm working my hardest to get there, I know of no one in this area that is planning on attending, and I could definitely use the ride. I would be more than willing to help with gas/any other essentials to the best of my abilities. I have a steady paycheck and no problem setting myself back a few weeks to support my fellow fighters and my own personal MK addiction. I would be willing to meet you pretty much anywhere in the state considering we have a train that runs through most of it and it's only a few dollars to go anywhere around here.
Second, and egotistically less preferred, but willing to accept:
I estimate it would cost roughly $600 USD for all expenses required in me getting to Dallas. This includes food, gas, my registration fee's, and a rental car (my 82 VW rabbit would only make it about a quarter of the way before exploding and sending me to my fire-ey death). I have 290-350 of the 600 myself, depending on how many hours I can rake in before I would have to leave Wednesday morning. Again, this is much less preferred, as I really don't like the idea of accepting other people's hard earned money and, of course, if I am not able to attend by some uncontrollable act of God (or whoever controls those things) everyone's money will be returned in full and any winnings, if there should so be some, that I make in the tournament will be divided up amongst those who helped me get to Dallas accordingly, until I've gotten as close as I could possibly get to paying everyone back. I will link my PayPal info below for those willing to assist.
As far as room and board go;
I have some white trash family members (I'm mixed....Stay with me now) that currently reside in Dallas. Assuming they are close enough to the venue, I'd be able to stay with them and might even be able to take in a few others low on cash (I would have to OK this with them first, of course). If they are not within a reasonable distance from the venue then I'd have no problem sleeping in the previously stated rental car (why not get my money's worth, right?). That being said, If someone was willing to share a room with me, or let me stay in their room, it would be greatly appreciated, but not a necessity.
I know I'm a noob to these forums, but I'm no noob to the game. I've been paying MK since ninety fo and I've got the skill to prove it ( I would have started in 92, but 3 year olds aren't very coordinated). Not trying to toot my own horn or anything, but I do feel I have the talent to be there, and will by no means be free to anyone I come across. Not to mention I main Kano. And we all know, if there is anything MK needs at MLG, it's some new character reps, even if they are asstier. I would be eternally grateful to anyone and everyone willing to assist me in my journey to the promise land. Thank you for your time and consideration.
