First off, thank you VERY much to the Houston players for making the 3 hr drive down here for a small tournament. I'm sorry there were not a lot of players, but I feel the comp was very good and lots of pretty good matches. I hope to see you guys at least once a month


Second, I'm shocked that after ALL the whining, bitching, moaning and crying about 360, almost nobody played it minus Bassman and maybe a couple of others. Most everybody there wanted to play on PS3. Why people felt the need to argue w/me is beyond me, but from now on (this is coming from mario and chris also) PS3 is now the tournament standard.

If Bassman wants to run tourneys on his own w/360, wonderful. As far as Gameworx is concerned, mario/chris/I all agree (and it's pretty obvious based on today also) that PS3 will be used from now on. I hope everybody had fun at the tourney


And finally, thank you to Mario for helping run singles and Kyle helping run pools for the tag tourney. See you guys next month!

no problem nori.....it was fun but we gotta find a way to get more people to come to our tournaments and subways fight night as well. A little upset about how late people where showing up but it comes with the territory. Betty did awesome....and the Nori and Spin matches were awesome....wish we would have recorded it though.....Those nut punch resets were scary. Anyways Good finally meeting Agustin and the Kitana player (forgot name) and on another note .....EEEEEEeeeee kitten got blown up....scrub zero.

Ggs guys! You guys need to get more ppl to come out to make it more hype. Dont care about the money just want some good matches to get us ready for majors. There was a tourney in Houston last night with 32 ppl where Showtime won. It was mostly casual players. But you guys should try to target these players as well as it will make a bigger turnout and get ppl familiar with the scene. You guys can do free Pizza for tournament participants. (it's what the tourney in Houston did and gets a lot of more ppl to enter. ) anyways. You guys should also think of coming out to Houston for out tourneys as well.

And I think San Antonio got blown up haha besides Betty! He can't save y'all everytime. He knows im coming back to make our tourney wins 2-2 since we at 2-1 now.

You guys need to get to Bettye level or better. Stop trying to get better than each other and work together to make the overall scene more skilled

With that said. None of us the Houston players lost to any of y'all. Just Betty. And the other loses came witting ourselves. Also I beat all my san antonio opponents 2-0 in the tourney besides Betty of course.

So if anyone is getting blown up is y'all nori thanks for the mm$ I hope you stick with cage but have a back up Cus sub will blow you up.

You didn't make it out of pools at Evo. Both SA players did. And Houston didn't win this tournament. San Antonio did. Houston got 2nd and 3rd, SA got 4th and 5th. Granted DevilJim placed higher than Betty/Spin, but they still made it out, regardless. Can't say Houston owns or anything like that until you are actually winning tournaments w/SA players in it. Just calling it how it is brother

And yes, I will be sticking w/Cage for sure. All shit talking aside, your SZ is beast and you gave me some great tips for Cage. I've been playing him 2 weeks but based on the damage I did today to people who have been playing their chars since day 1, I think I'm on the right track. Fuck that, I'm gunning for Betty. I disagree. If you don't have somebody in your city to encourage you to beat, you aren't getting better. I feel the only 2 people in the city that are above me right now are Agustin and Betty. So I'm going to continue to try to get to their level and surpass them. Everybody should have a goal in mind. That doesn't mean I won't play w/others nor help anybody get better. But anybody that is playing this game and doesn't want to truly be the best at it is lying to themselves. I'm super competitive so I want to beat the people that I feel are better than me.

This game isn't broken or anything, but there are obvious tiers. The following chars are considered either top tier or very good and can win a tournament, in no order:

Kabal/Kung Lao/Raiden/Reptile/Cyrax/Kitana


All of these chars have very little bad matchups and something better than the rest of the cast. Find somebody that fits your style. IMO, Kung Lao is a great starting char w/almost no bad matchups (he dies to Kitana and Johnny Cage though)

Haha nori when's the last time you won a tourney? I think my one win at the con tourney in San Antonio already makes me have more wins then you in San Antonio. I like how you guys say San Antonio is better but the fact is only Betty is good. If we had a Houston vs San Antonio players round robin you guys would get stomp Cus only Betty can get wins.

You're right about trying to be the best in you're community. But you guys seem to lack in helping each other out. Instead of trying to win and keeping important info that will help you're opponent beat you , you guys should say hey you can do this when I do this and what not. That's not only gonna level up you're opponent but you as well. Because you will adapt to that instead of facing a unknown player in a tourney that actually knows what to do in that situation. Me and Showtime always do this when having casuals. We even go to training and see certain things will help against a certain tactics. This is also what me and Betty do when we play online. I always tell him about the stuff I'm doing. What's gurtenteed how to get out of my set ups. Are matches always go either way which is how it should go with all you guys instead of trying to keep info to yourself so you can always dominate in you're community then Going to another city or state and getting blown up Cus the players character knew what to do against you unlike the player in you're town.

Anyways ggs. And lol tons XRAY being stuffed again! Where my aura!?? Lol he actually didn't have enough health to take the hit even with the armor.

Also like how you tried to counter pick using ermac against my sub augustin. Lol don't Blame you have to do what you got to do to win. It was smart cuz I blow up raidens with sub. But thankfully I know how to play my bad match ups. And thanks to Bassman cuz he's where I got my ermac experience online.

But I don't talk like I'm the god of the community either when I don't make it out of my own pool at Evo and then STILL think I'm great at not even winning a 12 man tournament. You are good, but not nearly as good as you think you are brother. You can take averages, polls, write a blog, publish a magazine, whatever helps you sleep. Fact is, SA is up on tournaments. I've said it before, if you want to do a city vs city team tourney, I'm sure we are down for that. You and the Houston guys are really good, no doubt. But your own boys say you talk a lot, it's just a fact. When you talk a lot, expect to get blown up on the forums when you lose. It's simple.

Also, you keep saying over and over only Betty is good. Is there another Houston player that is coming here and dominating? Does YOU being the only guy winning 1 out of 3 tournaments really make Houston better? Come on bro lol. If you are going to use the "only betty" argument then I will use the "only jim" argument, it's only fair. I know Jim is very good at this game, but he's being a douche and never showing up

As far as us helping each other, we do. I don't know how anybody else trains in SA cause I don't see them weekly, but me and Agustin break everything down for each other. haha I'm not mad bro, I know it's shit talk. I love city rivalries. I've met you a few times and you are a very cool guy, hell all you houston guys were. For being a small tournament, I had a great time. I'm a born NYer, but SA is where I learned FGs so I have to defend it when it's attacked brother. Hey, so I looked around and didn't see anything outside of the Arkansas tournament coming up, and that's on the 17th. I can't imagine too many people going to that, so the date is more or less open for a Subway Fight Night Tournament.

Septemeber 17th or the 24th? What would everyone prefer? FYI we will be doing it at the Subway down by SAC, which is much much larger than the the current Subway we use. It can also stay open later.

Did anybody else see this? That sux for Cyrax players, I wonder how many people are going to drop him. Good shit on the KL nerf that shit was annoying...surprise for jade?...wonder what it could be (I hope the tier whores wont jump on the Jade bandwagon if its game changing)
In my opinion, I think when you trade projectiles with sub or cryax, the freeze or the net will have time being active reduced. It sux that sub can still punish after a trade from like 3/4 screen.
Buff reptiles elbow, it needs to be a launcher with armor......lol

Yeah, I'm really curious about the Jade buff more than anything. And Cyrax is actually a pretty decent char when you use him right. He's not supposed to be played just to get 70% combos. This guy Mustard in Europe has a SICK Cyrax that I would not want to run into, even though JC owns Cyrax

KL nerfs needed to happen, I saw the Cyrax one coming he's still has beast pokes and bomb setups even without the resets.

The nerfs are kind of dumb. Lao will still be good. Nerfing his spin was dumb because it's not like good players throw them out all the time they know it's already punishable. It's still gonna be the best anti air in the game so that's dumb. Low hat nerf might hurt his game a lil depending if it's fully punishable or more like kabals low saw. Anyways he will still have his mix up game and built loads of meter like usual.

This game is getting dumbed down with each patch. It's gonna make me Switch to umvc3. Skullgirls. And maybe even ae 2012. They will have more ppl playing it I'm sure.

Armor on ex slide will make my subby a lil stronger. Clone - opponent throws projectile - ex slide threw it and throw them into my clone. = gdlike
