Pig's UMK3 Tournament on Mame - Last Day to Sign-Up is 2/25!

1st Place: Mortal Kombat 9 TE with Stick for system of your choice + Premium membership

2nd place: Shot Glass engraved with your gamertag on it and character name of choice, Dragon Logo, as well as premium membership

3rd place: Premium membership

Rules are simple

UMK3 on Mame. If you and your opponant want to play on XBOX live you may but keep in mind you'll eventually run in to someone who doesnt have a XBOX so you will be required to get the UMK3 Mame version.

32 participants required for tournament to go forward but will take more if more interest.

All characters are allowed

infs allowed if you can do them - umk3 infs take skill - period

Best out of 7 until Finals then it's first to 10 (only have to win by 1)

If you have any problem with any rule then don't sign up - we at MKU don't put up with crap or crybabies.

Must be a registered member of the site as all details will be discussed here. in this thread.

Each participant must schedule their match through PM (private message) and then post time agreed upon in this thread for me to make note. If a player does not meet for their scheduled time then you recieve one mulligan and after this it's DQ'ed and I don't care for your feelings. If participants cant agree upon a time then I will pick one. If both can't make the time I pick then i'm sorry. World won't wait for you!

Match ups will be drawn out of a hat, filmed and posted in this thread. Deadline for sign ups will be Feb 25th.

ONLY LOSER can pick new character - if you win a round you must keep same character - this helps control counterpicking - if enough disagree im open to changing this

the current umk3 players dont have a problem w/the switching of characters after a win so for now lets keep it that way and discuss it more at a later time.

Actually, at WB, I believe we're going to a different rule... a modified one. No switching to H.Smoke if you start as R.Smoke... must pick H.Smoke from the select screen now since we use the Juggernauts hack with him available. Also, winner can switch, but must announce who he's switching to.

I think thats kinda lame too. Thats taking away from picking Robo Homo. The element of surprise that he's had all the way until....WB? Boooo

Yeah... I don't like that, I'd rather the winner switch than have to speak up.

Personally I was always a fan of the "switch/taking turns" rule....meaning, you flip a coin to see who starts/picks first, whoever loses 2 out of 3 coin flips has to pick first to start.

Then from that moment, you take turns picking first. Player A picks first, Player B picks second...next match Player B picks first, Player A picks second...

Some people like this(with the 3D MK's way back on MKO and MKU for the online tournaments) but I can get if not everyone likes this rule, I know the winner keeps rules has been good too for some games.

Saw this, caught my interest with online then I saw MAME lol :( My PC doesn't like mame/kaillera

It looks like this tourney is another failure like all the other MK online ones. Which is a shame because I was really looking forward to this one. Feels like I wasted my time constantly telling people about it from Kaillera, and it seems the people who were behind the tourney didn't do much theirselves to personally gather up players.

To run a tournament like this you have to be a kaillera regular or associated with kaillera in a way that makes the scene aware of your intentions. If west wonderland ran a UMK3 online tournament it would run without a problem because they have the means to advertise in their servers that it is going on and link to where to sign up. Trying to get a bunch of random people to sign up from a site that is designated for console babies who don't know anything about computers and try and get them set up on mame is a joke. I had high hopes for this and I told many many people I play with about it but, its looking like a terrible failure to me. Oh not to mention when it does run if ever.. even top players in the community have shit connections or computers to use. Lets face it computer gaming is dead when MW2 didn't have a lean function on PC it was time to put a fork in it and buy a console.

I would love to join but unfortunately I lag/delay playing 90% of umk3 players, even p2p...so this is a no go for me...But good luck to all.

Thats bullshit because most the retards on mame cant identify their own lag. Your connection is fine.
