Go look up fbi violent crime stats. Its not baffling really. Criminals don't want to be shot. They also dont care about breaking gun laws. Remove honest persons right to own a gun, they now have nothing to fear. contrary to what most believe, police can't actually protect you.

Chicago has twice the "Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter" as Los Angeles. You'll also notice, other anti-gun cities like Washington D.C. top the charts in crime.

Crime statistics are listed for U.S. cities with a population of 250,000 or greater. Rates are based on cases per 100,000 people for all of calendar year 2010.

I don't hate guns. What I DO hate is how ridiculously easy it is for absolutely anyone to get a gun there. What I also hate is that I had to spell it out for you, since you pulled an MKF and just reduced my argument to a strawman. I don't want to ban guns, I just want the proper checks in place to make it more difficult for criminals and psychopaths to get them, which was the whole point of that hypothetical scenario to begin with. But, like I said, I don't think I could go through with it.

No, Arizona has a fomenting hatred of pretty much all immigrants. At least the state legislature does. You need only look as far as SB1070, an anti-immigrant bill that basically encouraged racial profiling, which was co-drafted by former state senator Russel Pearce, a known white supremacist in the pocket of the private prison industry. They hate the legal ones, too, and if a legal one just so happened to be missing his "papers," he'd be hauled off to suffer in what basically amounts to a mini-gulag while he awaits deportation.

You actually think that's the reason there's so much violent crime in those areas? LOL. also lol at the "anti-american" remark.

There are no statistics showing violent crime increasing WITH gun control, only people trying to point out some fucked up idea of cause and effect that makes zero sense. That correlation doesn't tell you anything. Recently it was found that most internet gay porn searches came from conservative states, so does that mean being conservative increases homosexuality?

Mind you, I'm actually against gun control (though I don't like guns). I just know a stupid argument when I see it.

I completely agree, there's absolutely no reason it should be so easy to get a gun. Everyone, regardless of what state you're in, should be subject to evaluation and an extensive background check in order to get one.

A government getting "out of hand" is apparently as subjective as historical facts nowadays, and what I want is for the government to not be overthrown for the wrong reasons (ie: unwarranted and ignorant cries of "socialism" and "religious discrimination"). Whoever stopped the forces confused with the above mentioned, I wouldn't want anywhere near a position of political power, no more than whoever is responsible for the REAL reasons this country is in a downward spiral.

Everything else you mentioned is absolutely true, though. We have pretty much all of the ingredients for WWIII sitting right in our laps, which, quite frankly, terrifies me.

Did I forget I mentioned NY? All I was trying to do was prove gun bans (victim disarmament) DOES NOT reduce violent crime and homicides. It doesn't. Criminals flock to these areas, you have a two times better chance of being murdered in Chicago as you do in Los Angeles (in 2010), and Chicago is the one with gun bans. Same with Washington D.C. Criminals will have guns no matter what, by the way, it's very hard to own a gun here in California, and take a look at Stockton or Oakland, they are war zones.

The police can't protect you at all times and its not their job to.

Let's be real, the only reason he came out in support of same-sex marriage is because it's no longer politically expedient for him to play coy with the issue. His laughably transparent "evolving" stance was calculated to win him more votes than it would loose him in 2008, and now that is no longer the case. This election is going to be a battle of the bases, and the Democratic and Liberal base never liked his initial positioning on the issue, so he's taking the position that's going to energize them the most and get them out to vote for him. Not to mention that polls on same-sex marriage have been generally trending towards the positive now for the last 4 years.

If this was something he truly, honestly, genuinely felt he would have come out in support of the issue a long time ago. Or at least before yesterdays vote. It's all about those votes.

Agreed completely. But political move or not, it's certainly a vast improvement to have him openly in favor rather than dance around the issue. I'd imagine it'll be a big help to the collective gay rights movement in general.

First of all when u refer to those great musicians throwing there life away by doing drugs, i dont think they did it solely on smoking weed...and if u say "yeah but tsmoking weed started it", read my previous post. btw, just a personal tought off that but i believe if jimi hendrix or guys from the doors or whoever werent using drugs, they probably didnt make so many good songs, one of the guys from the doors even openly admitted it that it opened his creativity.Ofcourse some ppl cant combine the power of succes withs alot of money and drugs as much as they want. But thats their choice and u know drugs where illegal anyway and they still have chosen it...



And about nicotine and alcohol still being legal because of profit? Yeah thats true but another thing is, have u ever tought that the tabacco industry and alcohol have rather not want weed to be legal?Would be not a smart choise financially.
Weed got illegal around 1930, before that they used weed for alot of things like clothes/oil and so on, and its just because some guy with alot of connections decided weed was bad for his factory he spread false rumours about weed being bad for u and togehter with the upcoming drugwars weed got treated like class 1 drugs.

Well, I think they kind of are though to a degree, you see I'm not saying "strickly weed" as most of the time it's usually a harder drug that they fall to, but like you said earlier(think it was you) it usually starts with weed and people throwing the whole "gateway drug" this and that...argument. I do think some musicians made some of their best hits while high or drunk whatever, but the people like A.Morissete, Jim Hendrix, etc I highly doubt they died due to pot lol probably coc or crack, who knows...

I'm sure alcohol and tobacco industries wouldn't want weed legalized perhaps do to "more competition" besides each other, but even if it does get green lit, I'm sure tobacco and alcohol industries would still be ok for sure. More people in general tend to drink as the mainstream over smoking weed I'm sure.

Well, I don't think weed is "good for you" either lol unless you have cancer....know what I mean? lol. That's why I had said before that for medical purposes, I'm all for weed, just not recreational. As for the rest of weed being legal or not, well that's your opinion. I'm sure if majority felt the same way, it would have been passed already by now.
