I've always found it incredible that there was soooo much demand for Rain to be in this game, yet almost no one uses him. I would love to see this character's full potential in the current version of the game.

Lightning can be full combo punished on whiff from 2/3rds of fullscreen, and it's hitbox is garbage so it whiffs often. His best range normal (b2) doesn't even cover the distance between characters at the start of a match, so his footsies are average. So basically from anywhere between sweep distance to fullscreen anything he does is unsafe.

Rain is definitely good but theres really not much going for him at full screen. Like singularity said if you wiff a single lightning they will either punish it or they will get pressure for free. 4, 43, and back 2 are all good but if you wiff a single string with rain you are open for days. I think one of his main undiscussed problems is how easy it is to wiff punish him. His cancels and stuff are good but he already isnt that fearful to play and if the person you play really knows him its really easy to deal with him. Armor is like the only thing that makes him relevant. I think if 3 was a low since you freaking kick their low leg or if his d3 was actually plus on hit then his pressure wouldnt have as many holes. But these are just my thoughts. Im schizo when it comes to this character.

Dude if your Raiden was as good as Curbo's Cage or CD Jr's Jax then you wouldn't need to counter-pick. That's not a slight on you that's just how it is. Since no Raiden player has the same skill as CD Jr or Curbo of course chances are they're gonna get blown up. Raiden has two bad match-ups that are still playable those being Sonya and Kabal. He has way more than 2 bad match ups. He has like 6. Raiden players are really delusional. If he only had 2 bad match ups he would be a top 5 character.
