The only thing that saved him from even an aging De La Hoya was an injury to Oscar's hand mid-fight which was the reason Oscar stopped keeping him on the end of his jab. If he fights Manny Pacquiao he will lose. He isn't fast enough to outrun Manny the whole time and he can't trade with him. Anybody else out there Floyd will beat, but if he fights Pacquao he will lose and he knows it. Keeping that undefeated legacy is the only reason that fight hasn't happened. It would be like if Ali didn't fight Frazier. They're the two best at their weight and there is no legitimate reason for them not to fight. Especially when boxing really needs a fight of that magnitude.

You underestimate him. He's probably the slickest boxer the world has seen in a long time. Pacquao would have to fight a very different fight against Mayweather.

Agreed, even when Cotto was landing, the parasite HBO commentators were talking it down. I already knew Cotto would need a knockout to win, this is why no one watches boxing anymore.
