MK9 PS Vita "How's online?" thread

So how is online in this version of the game? If it's good I might buy the vita and the game.

played 14 rank games, and its better than psn ranked for sure in terms of lag. Only problem with its online is its infrastructure itself, it has no lobbies.

You do know that Vita uses PSN right?

Either way, it's definitely better. I've played over 100 matches leading up to its release. I've had only a handful of matches with an input delay that was similar to the standard on PS3. Most matches were significantly better. Not perfect, but it's a huge improvement. It's a lot more fun to play online now. I had stopped for a long time due to how bad the lag was.

I cannot fathom how it'd be better considering that it runs off wifi solely, maybe they'll fix whatever the hell's wrong with the PS3 netcode then but I highly doubt it.

Oh well. I'm over online personally and I'm not going to thrown down a few hundred bucks unless it comes with a trainer that rivals every other FG's out there. If that were the case though, I'd be pretty pissed off tbh. There's now 3 versions of this game. MK9 which has an awful netcode on PS3, MK9 'Komplete' Edition which is a big ridden piece of crap of which every copy should be destroyed due to the fact that I doubt they'll fix it, and finally MK9 Vita which somehow has a better netcode despite running off wireless (c'mon guys, wireless is bad) and may in fact out perform PS3's horrible netcode (WIRED!).

If you do a private match you can play your opponent over and over. Just like on consoles. There's voice chat too, which works surprisingly well.

I'll have to dig up that thread here but yes, there's a lot of problems with it. Some combos which do not exist in standard MK9 exist in Komplete Edition, plus there's more bugs. I think most TOs have stopped using it due to the various glitches added to it (how do you do this? you're just adding the DLC characters and the patch on a disc...)

It just irks me how there's no consistency between these 3 versions, it's stupid. I have no desire to buy KE, but hey...if they can fix the horrendous netcode on the vita then why can't it be fixed on PS3 as well? Oh right, because they want more sales, and they know how shitty the netcode is on PS3. I'm not telling people not to support NRS/Sony but that's a load of BS. Wifi > wired; what an age we live in.

I agree it is absurd that they can't have a version (where the only difference is supposed to be including DLC) play the exact same way as the standard game. And the fact that the Vita seems to have less lag online is also pretty ridiculous (not complaining because I have a Vita but damn, cant the console version have a better netcode since that is their bread and butter game).

That's a valid point, and it is likely. However, it's still wifi...isn't exactly known for being very stable when taking online gaming into account.

I mean, I feel like NRS is essentially stating "Oh, you want these bonus costumes AND a good netcode? Well, we know you already bought it on PS3, but guess what?! We added shit and fixed it, so you better buy it!"

I played 2 matches that were horribly laggy, I even tried dmzing (I know that's not a word) my vita with a static ip and it did not help. There are only 500 people on leader boards now though, maybe it will clear up. No connection issues here, my 360 normally has a good connection. Going to try more tomorrow, hopefully it gets better. Probably going to try to clear challenge towers and story first. It would be cool if you could unlock tremor and make people freak when you pick him...

I just hook it up to my computer and it solves the wi fi issue.

PS3 in general is notorious for having more problematic netplay than anything else. It's not just MK with this problem. SFIV and HDR are terrible on PS3 as well.

I gotta say the online version of the vita is really good. My first match was really laggy where I couldnt even land a jumping punch, then I played other matches were I didnt notice any lag. There are 3 things that makes me love online vita at the moment
1. STYKER man. Whenever I win a round he backs off and say "PUNK" I dont know why but this is hilarious coming from a low tier character lol. Sometimes I can here the guy in the background go like "Oh yeah, you'll see"...like im the one who just called them a punk LOL.
2. The built in mic. you can hear the salt or random comments when they hear me laughing on the background. I guess the down side of this is that there is no beep sound when they get really salty lol.
3. No chat board. This is a God send for me because I hate reading ignorant comments. That's one of the main reasons why I stick to playing TYM folks

You can't play the game through 3G.

I've had some absolutely horrible matches. Majority have been better than playable. But man, the bad ones are really bad. It doesn't help that I only do 8% damage off a starter when I know the opponent will not block low. Really sucks.

Most of my connections have been fine. It feels good to anti air consistently with jax Standing 1, and connect f413 with d1 in the corner.

BTW how do you turn of your mic?
