LOVE the MK series! Here to learn more and more from others that love this game as much as I do. I play on the PS3, and my ID is srs-1989 if you wanna hit me up. I feel like im pretty good at zonning mutha fuckas :), and starting to learn how to "EFFECTIVELY", rush down. Let me know what you think; ZONNING o r RUSHDOWN?

Welcome.

I agree with Destiny. Cage has a really good projectile, and not a very good rushdown. For example, his F3 is one of the worst attacks in the game.

For noob, his projectiles are bad, his rushdown is really good and tricky, which is great.

I can't help you answer that question but I can say Sub Zero's best strategy. Form an ice clone and jump over it as many times as you can. My record is 4.....

Also ice puddles have amazing start-up so throw them out from full screen.

Hope this helps.

If you're looking for rushdown, try Quan Chi and use his F1 as poke pressure. And make sure to jump as much as possible.
I do like Quan Chi, but haven't really messed around with him much, he has some pretty decent mix ups to go with some resets he has. Good Quan Chi players kinda feel like another scorpion to me, once he has you, he gunna put some hurt on ya if you guess wrong. The only real character I myself have used for rush is scorpion, big part to his fast and easy strings mixed up with throws.

Welcome to TYM, long live MK! Me, personally I think zoning is more crucial(but that's me, it's appropriate for my style) everyone's different.

This game is about playing both the rushdown and zoning styles at a high level. A one-sided playstyle will accomplish nothing in MK9. Some characters are more specialized in rushdown while others focus more on zoning, but it all depends on your knowledge of the match-ups as well as fundamentals.

By the way, welcome to the site! I play on the Playstation 3 console myself. My tag there is GamerBlake90.

I'm far from the greatest MK player out there, but find it hard to believe that zoning characters like Noob (one of my mains) is really ANY good at close quaters with someone like Cage.

You would be correct, Noob Saibot fails big time against characters that have great rushdown, more so when he gets cornered. As he has no armor to his moves, his only means of invincibility is timing a Wake-Up correctly. His true game shines with his half-screen mix-ups.

Noob can also play offensively, but he must do so very sparingly. You usually want to poke with d3 and/or end his block strings with Shadow Upknee; the Upknee is +4 on block. I'd explain more, but I suggest hitting up Hitoshura for some expert advice on Noob if you want to know more.

I can Hella zone a decent cage out with Noob, and understand when and when not to get in and pressure with his block strings, err. He moves are just so damn slow, that zoning is almost his only real option vs characters like Cage. Then you get people sending you hate mail about spamming.

Actually, Cage doesn't seem to make for a half bad zoner when it comes down to it. Noob one the other hand, eh... not want rushdown. :(
cage has one of the best projectiles in the game. great startup and recovery. spam the hell out of it.
