As we in the US learn about more and more parts of the world that have any kind of fighting game community/scene especially when it involves Mortal Kombat you could say we're eager to learn more. Well, Eddy Wang is from Angola... and that is in South Africa. Once I learned about his scene/community there I began asking questions about their scene there, the players, etc. Recently he got back to me with everything I asked for an then some with little player bios, casuals footage and an overall "scene summary".
"Last year there was a Pro Evolution tournament , this started the video game events for the 1st time ever on the country,Its called ADV (Virtual Sports asociation "in English").
However with the release of MK9 they've been organizing MK9 tournaments since june, i didn't join on the 1st one but someone recomended me to join in on the next events.
Last year there was 5 tournaments of MK in ADV i've won 4 of them, of course they had some specific rules like:
- Double Elimination Brackets: Called Bracket of the winners and Bracket of the losers (on Challonge.com) Everyone starts on the brackets of the winner, if you lose your send on the Bracket of the losers to fight another defeated players" No matter what you play you can't lose twice or you're out of the brackets"
The final is settle by the best player from the bracket of the winners and the best from the bracket of the losers.
- Tag Matches:
- No Effect codes allowed.
- No Stages banned
- Kratos and DLCs banned (last year only)
The events for this year will start with the Euro Football season, and MK9 will appear again dynamic as hell, the hosts are evaluating all the stuffs we're proposing, so it came the Casual Tournaments.
Casual Tournaments: Are preview tournament macthes to gather more players to the movement and train them to be strong to debut on future ADV tournaments, we're organizing since april at least 1 per month.
Last Event the rules changed, because we want to increase our skills in hope to go on USA events on the future so 1st we change the rules to:
- Kratos Banned
- Winner keeps the player.
most of the players liked it and played, but its only half work done, we're currently working on a agreement to reduce matches to 1 vs 1, its far more competitive, if everyone aproves it the next ADV tournament will be much complex.
