PA Kombat (Philly, Allentown, Reading, Pottsville, Lancaster...)

Over the last few months Mortal Kombat scenes outside New York City have started to grow a noticeable amount. Scenes in So.Cal, IL, Atlanta, and Virginia/NC have put themselves on the map.

After attending plenty of tournaments now I've come to meet a ton of people who live within an hour or two of each other; yet all scattered from Philly to Harrisburg. A few of us want to establish a solid PA scene. Currently in King of Prussia (outside Philly) we get together at least once a week for casuals and are looking to expand. I am looking into a place to hold weekly and/or monthly events at the KoP Mall, as of right now my apartment has been holding upwards of 25 people just fine. If there is a more central location we can look into that as well (something in Allentown, Pottstown, ect.) Also a TYM member has offered their place to host a monthly MK event as well. He can elaborate here if he wants to.

If you're by any of these places let me know and we'll start planning our first big event for all of PA's MK players. With some help from the Kombat Network we'll be streaming our events along side NY's VSM.

Philly - King of Prussia - Pottstown - Reading - Allentown - Pottsville - Lancaster - Wilmington - Plymoth Meeting - Norristown

We'll make a Facebook group as well if that makes it eaiser for people to stay in contact. PM me your Facebook info if you do not want to make it public.

In the next few weeks we'll pick and announce a date.

Hopefully this thread can act as somewhat of a roll call. Everyone in these areas should post here so it's easy to coordinate meetings. Let us know where you are, maybe some details regarding your availability, etc.

I live in Lancaster and have no qualms driving an hour (or sometimes more) for some good casuals, so whenever and wherever we choose to do this, count me in. With any luck we'll get this up and running in the very near future. I know this area of PA has some fantastic players; it's about time we all got together.

We're very flexible. Because many of us know each other well, we can set up events on the fly. What we're looking to do now is set up something a little more consistent. We're opening this thread partially to discuss our availability so we can pick a day that best accommodates everyone. If there are days that just do not work, we'll be taking that into consideration. We want to make this as accessible and convenient as possible, so feel free to discuss all that stuff.

Well, we're not 100% sure where we'll be meeting if we get a lot of responses (whether it be SwiftTom's, MikeMetroid's, or elsewhere) so if you have a car and are willing to drive roughly an hour, there's a high possibility you could still attend. If we end up getting a large variety of players there might be carpool opportunities, who knows. Don't count yourself out.

But seriously though, if you can keep it roughly within an hour or so of Frankford then I shouldn't have too much of a problem making these.

I'd imagine weekend afternoons would prolly be best for most people, but we'll see as you guys get closer to setting this all up.

PM me your number again. I made a big mistake and put a ton of MK players numbers under "MK" in my phone. I don't know who's who...

Also, if everyone could just state the best possible time of week for them (like you already did), then we can probably map out a date as quick as a week or two.

hey tom i gave you my number at vsm like 3 and a half weeks ago, but yea i live in allentown and anything done here and ill walk there lol for philly or anywhere else i have to wait to get my car fixed, every freakin time i ask what wrong there's always something different wrong, but yea once thats taken care of am down anytime :coffee:

U know im good for it, Swifttom.....I had a few of the guys here over the past year several times, my trainees regularly, plus we have a local arcade that host tourneys as well. Pottstown Brotha.....we missed you and Simon at the tourney last night :(

There's only 1 thing I can answer that with.....invest in a new car, off the lot w/ the best possible warrantee you can find. Trust me, I spent YEARS buying cars I never should have got and inherited alot of problems.....Life became much easier when I bought one w/ a 4-6 year warrantee. Yea, u spend more atm, but you save SOOOOOOO much in the long run...i swear my warrantee work that I got done covered a YEAR'S worth of car-payments for me (in comparison)

I am the member planning on hosting the monthly event. It will be in my basement, I can provide 5 or 6 Tvs. Roughly 20 people for the first time. No booze. There are plenty of Inns/Hotels literally down the road for those who can't make the trip to and back in one night. Right now I'm in the process of cleaning my basement so its not a dungeon. It isn't a finished basement but it will have carpet, wont smell like must, and will be as clean as I can get it to be. I will have more of an official announcement later once I get to know more about more info. Any questions talk to me.

Games: Klassic MK, MK9, SSF4AE, UMvC3, and SFxT. (or whatever you guys feel like bringing)

Sweet, that's awesome man. I'll post in this tread and PM you when we get a good date for everyone. We'll get some of those FreeYork guys down as well to make for a big first time event.
