Should I pick up Rain or Sub Zero?

So I am looking for a more pressure oriented character of the ninja variety to complement my vast array of zoners. I have narrowed it down to Rain or Sub Zero.

So community, help me once again and be my tie breaker. Love you

Subzero has decent midscreen pressure & is on the list for top corner pressures. Rain has insane dmg & can pressure with his RH, water bubble resets. It's a hard choice....i'd say Rain.

i mained both for a while, and sub has pretty stellar control with his ice clone, but rain has super high damage combos that require no meter. i would also go with rain

Rain if you want to maximize your damage, Sub-Zero if you want to maximize your mindgames.

I'd say Rain. He's a better character in my opinion. But you should play the one you like the most.

TBH neither rain or sub are rushdown, but out of the two Rain is a better character imo. If you really want rushdown potential go with Liu Kang or Kung Lao

Every Rain player I ask tells me to "Rush those fuckers down."
I can't see Rain as a zoner, lol. And he isn't as hardcore rushdown as JC, but I think he meets the criteria to be considered "rushdown."

The thing about Rain is he can stop rush down for a 35%+ damage while starting his own rush-down. Of course not Johnny Cage potential, but for a zoner like yourself I think he'll fit good. You may also try Shang Tsung if the ninjas are excluded.

He looks goofy, I can't play keepaway with him, and his combos are hard to do in lag. I will never get those 5 bucks back. ;__;

Rain and Sub-Zero are both footsies characters, although, since people are championing rain's attributes, one thing that hasn't been mentioned here is that you will find no substitute for the ice clone. Comes down to the individual.

I also think all the "rushdown" characters in the game are footsies characters as well, so characters can sort of be both.

Sub and Rain are both predicated on keeping within their happy zone and capitalizing on good reads, good pokes and the opponents mistakes which are forced by the good spacing.

I do wish he could have his MKT skin . I don't think his kombos are actually that bad, maybe I'm lucky or the character agrees with me. And Ed Boon is stroking your five dollars and laughing at you

Also, I'm really intrigued by your second statement. Why can't Smoke play keep away? What can Rain do?

Perhaps I should've clarified. Maybe not a pure rushdown, but more of an offensive character, and more pressure oriented. I have too many characters that are all keep away and zoning.

Sub and Rain are both kind of rushdown characters. They're pseudo rushdown characters, I suppose. Johnny Cage also relies on good spacing, whiff punishment, etc, so you can always make the same arguments, you just want to have a complete version of whatever you choose to play.
