Inconsistent Punish Distance on certain blocked specials

This affects Liu Kang's regular and EX Bicycle kick, as well as Raiden's superman (I don't know about EX). Is there reason behind this? Is it truly random?

EDIT: note that I made every effort to NOT MOVE while doing these. The problem is that the inconsistency is present, not that it hugely affects punishing.

I knew about this but I thought is had to do with how far the moves traveled before they were blocked, but that doesn't seem to be the case. For superman and bicycle kick, it's not a big deal because you still have plenty of time to dash up.

This occasional bounce back also happens with reptile dash, which sucks a lot.

I think its funny that everyone breathed a sigh of relief after reptile's dash was "nerfed" in the last patch. Actually... That shit got buffed lol. The recovery frames are exactly the same (-15) and it now has push back and random bounce back.

Not enough people dissect the mechanics of this game.
 
KT Smith I just played with dash for a while. It only has pushback at point blank or maybe a step or two outside of it. After that there is no pushback on either fighter. I've seen issues with it many times, but I can't reproduce them in the lab. At least, I couldn't in my 10 minutes of trying.

Yeah I said this a bunch right after the nerf and all of the reptile players i mentioned it to called me an idiot and that dash sucks now. Every time I mentioned it people just say "lrn2punish" and I assumed it was just me sucking. Thanks for the reaffirmation.

what did they ''nerf''? I dont seem to remember a difference.
I thought it was because I didnt play this game for a while that I had trouble with punishing the dashes, but I havent been punishing it as consistent as before

I always assumed it was down to the distance travelled, this is a fairly big deal online as it can be very tight whether you get the punish when there is pushback.

Off topic, I can't for the life of me cancel f2,4 into bicycle kicks, is there a trick to this I'm missing?
