First of all, there are reasons, almost all of which are justified.

Bear in mind that Perfect Legend used to be part of my local scene during Mortal Kombat 9 and Injustice 1.

I promise you that I could tell you inside stories that would make the 13:0 fiasco look mild by comparison, but I refuse to kick a guy while he is down.

This criticism is valid, but what Perfect Legend fails to mention is that Sonic Fox placed top 25 at EVO 2023, above players like Daigo, Big Bird, and Ryuusei, in Street Fighter 6, which, to my knowledge, is the largest fighting game tournament of all time.

If you know anything about me, you know that I am no Sonic Fox fanboy.

However, if I were to call out another player for the past ten years, I would want to ensure that my results are somewhere in the realm of credibility and relevancy.



Mortal Kombat 9 was not exactly the most played fighting game in the FGC during its lifespan.

Could anyone not make the same case about Perfect Legend while he was winning?



Does the fact that a 16-old Baraka player beat Sonic Fox not prove that players do lab characters and match ups in the modern NRS community?

Baraka is supposed to be low tier, too.

These talking points are duplicitous, anti-intellectual, and biased, precisely what you expect from Perfect Legend.

Perfect Legend has been obsessively ass-mad about Sonic Fox for years now.

Even if you don't like Fox, they don't crash out and go on these long tangents about PL. But PL does about Fox.

Whether you like them or not, Sonic Fox is one of the most consistent fighting game players of all time. Not the most, but certainly up there.

I think a lot of the hate they get comes from jealous people, bigots, and people that simply can't beat them with any degree of consistency.

I've seen the, "Oh they only won with broken x character." It's a stupid argument. Always has been. A competitive player's goal is to maximize their chances of winning. Obviously that means playing the best characters.

And if you think Sonic Fox was the only one playing Alien or Cassie Cage or Tanya or Cyrax, you're delusional.

It's okay to admit that a player with EVO Medals in multiple games is good.

Meanwhile, I can't think of the last time PL was an EVO Medalist in....anything.

It was almost safe and pushed you back far. I think only Ermac, Reptile and Lao himself (with ex spin) could punish it in the first patch.

The thing about Sonic is, if I ask for hands to be raised of everyone who’s actually met Sonic, among the people trying to drag him down, very few hands are gonna go up.

I met him and hung out with him at Defend the North, and he was cool. Yes, he’s confident in his ability, competitive, and if you talk trash to him he’ll give it back 3x over. But underneath that he’s a cool person. I have witnessed him doing nice things for others, giving advice to his opponent after he beats them in a set, etc.

I’d much rather have somebody like that as the face of our scene than someone who is feeling themselves and requiring special celebrity treatment like some of these other scenes.

Its almost like being incredibly self confident and competitive is a prerequisite for being high caliber in literally anything.

Say what you will about SonicFox but no MK player has come CLOSE to his skill level and achievements. Not NinjaKilla, not Rewind, not Tekkenmaster, no one. And he mopped the floor with PL. I mean, losing 13-0 in a ft10 is pretty embarrassing. He practically destroyed his credibility and its what I remember him for to this day, not him winning EVO.

And before you ask what I have achieved in fighting games; nothing. But I didn't run my mouth claiming to be better than Fox at something I literally had no chance of beating him.

My money is on Quan Squidward as well. I mostly agree with the points he presents, and even if I disagree, I can usually see clearly the reasoning presented, which is not something that could be said of every member of this site.

Plus I'm not alone when I say he has come a long way in regards to presenting his arguments - there is still the beloved Vulgar-ness, which is quite entertaining, but the arguments themselves have become sharper and thus, the need for empty insulting has diminished accordingly. That, and/or mofos in this site have started presenting increasingly absurd points of view.

I have personally seen this happen MANY times... most recently was MK11. Punk started playing and spitting on twitter that exact narrative. I'll dominate, with zero effort and win cash on easy mode.... but he got wrecked, and the result was like a 2 month long exit from the scene where he constantly trashed the game and all the players who still played.

so what did the NRS community do? A tale as old as time and what they always do…silently showed up, tuned out and proceeded to dominate. I don’t even think that player made it to finals..

What followed was month long public videos trash talking the NRS scene, the game and the players in it due to the loss

people seen to think that just because the game has dedicated dial a combos that they can roll up and be Superman at any point and time…
