That is totally fair. I was never big on MKx... that run button... omg.. that was a total deal breaker for me lol, same as kemoes for other people now...

I just resent the constant hate. The negativity really bums me out and it drives away people that actually like the game. It is the assumption that some opinions are "correct" and everyone how disagrees is some kind of shill or stan who's opinion can be ignored as they are obiouly morons.

So I will go with someone who mentioned this earlier.

Plenty of series have spinoff series. Like Tekken Tag or MvC correct?

So like if I KNEW that MK1 was that I could actually be more receptive and less negative. I think a lot of longtime fans could take that as well and then they could have maybe a side series to build on (even though at it’s core I wouldn’t play it. I don’t like MK1). However, I don’t have to play to be receptive.

Knowing this shit erased all my favorite characters histories and introduced a mechanic I wasn’t fond of from the get go and this is how it’s going to be for the forseeable future? No. No I don’t want that. Plus I felt like some things were changed almost to promote their shitty movie franchise as well.

Karl Urban is also just a horrible choice for Johnny Cage. That’s off topic though. I hope MK2 (the movie) flops so they just stop with those. The first one wasn’t even good.

Actually this isn't true.

There was a pretty sizeable wave of people wanting to go back to MK11 when MK1 was in one if it's lower periods. Xombat even called it, "peak."
Not nearly enough to say the cycle continues. When the cycle is talked about it generally means that the majority of the community says the previous game was much better.

That didnt happen from mk11 to mk1, not even close.

As for xombat, he was displeased from a top level competative play and balance, not liking the stale meta of kameos being something into kano knives/styker grandes/cyrax chopper. Him saying stuff like it was peak breh, bruh is just how kids talk these days.

This just reads like cope. The cycle wasn't broken, you're just not engaging with reality.

It passed like all of these waves passed, but it happened. The Discourse was alive with the sounds of Tweeting.

actually,. lots of people are. You might not be, nor your friends, but lots of people are.

I think it was Foxy who recently made a video about how MK11 was the best MK ever made, and his chan is almost completely devoted to it now, and he claims his stream and tube is earning him 6 figures, so he has plenty of people that watch it.....

Just start reading this forum you see pro-MK11 posts ALL the time.... now.

Destroyer recently tweated that the MK11 stream had the highest viewership of all his recent streams, including the MK1 and MKx events he ran...

I'm not saying MK11 is the best, all I ma saying is that the "swing" is in full effect.
I dont really care how much a streamer makes or not, nor is it indicative of a cycle continuing.

People tend to whatch a stream typically for the streamer, especially if they have been streaming for decent period of time, no matter how large or not the audiance is.

Those people also tend to act like fan girls being heavily inglunced by the streamer.

To be exact afoxygrampa has 250 avrage viewers acording to twich metrics(the number is not any higher when fiktered for mk11 streams specifically) destroyer has 150 avarage viwers, his content for the past few months is exclusively mkx and mk1 and some non fg games, i dont even see mk11 on his channels at all.

There is no swing at all.

This kinda sounds like cope, there was not a gigiantic outpour of people saying mk11 gameplay was godlike.

There was major noise about mk11 shipping more finished and polished as a product and that is 100% the truth.

You can believe whatever you want, but the cycle was broken.

It is not about how much he makes, it is about how well the game is received.

Dismissing peoples preference you do not agree with is just a form of gaslighting. Saying there is some reason their opinion is not worth listening too, or is corrupted somehow, is just a way to dismiss it and not take it on board. Everyone hates X... but I like X.. yeah but you are a shill "fan girl"... so actually everyone hates X... this kind of thinking is obviously completable bollocks.

You can believe whatever you want, but the cycle was broken.
except for literally ALL the people that are saying MK11 was awesome now and are choosing to play it over other fighting games... which there are many.

I don’t know about the NRS scene from game to game, but right now fighting games are struggling to grow relative to other genres, especially amongst younger gamers. The new generation branding that MK1 has and some of the redesigns seem like attempts at following trends. They weren’t trying to “beat Street Fighter” with MK1 - I think they were trying to surpass MK11’s sales and really get some visibility. I see peacemaker/Omniman as examples of the kinds of guest zoomers would want.

Presently, I think MK1 is in a good place. But that’s for a player like me. The loudest complaints about MK1 were about its single player content - an aspect I don’t really care about that much. But I’m happy.

the elephant in the room is the state of fighting games in general. I love em but I think the financials could catch up with them. MK1 already seems a bit shrinkflated from mk11
