Kung Lao changes

I've already posted what changes he needs in the Lao discussion thread.

This MF ain't Lao and I don't give AF what anyone says.

Hard to believe the same soul that designed MKXL Kung Lao did MK1 Lao as well.

The difference is night and day. Competitive or not I must ask... How the fuck did he go from mk9 ~ fast forward YEARS idk like 14 YEARS since then he's been relegated to this? This is the best they can do with the advancement in development at the studio.

Where is the evolution of gameplay? Lao has regressed.

I don't wanna hear shit about the kameo system is supposed to be a call back to classic characters.

The KAMEO is Kung Lao but the main roster character isn't and that needs to be changed and I'm sure they can do it

But they most likely won't because well....
They hate Kung Lao and it shows.

I'll trade that stupid ass spin buff and that dumb ass kitana hat toss for some real fucking Kung Lao moves any day of the damn week.
 
Hmmm you present mk9 Lao combos and mk1 Lao combos without kameos, this game has kameos you use them for combos too.

Other than faster armor I don’t believe Lao needs anything else.

21 stagger since is +3 I did the same with MK9 Lao 21 21 21 stagger.

Mortal Kombat 9 Kung Lao does not play too different from Mortal Kombat 1 Kung Lao.

Once upon a time before low hat was significantly nerfed, Mortal Kombat 9 Kung Lao could be played as an efficient hit-and-run character, which is similar to how he plays now.

Besides, let us avoid acting like the Kitana community in Mortal Kombat 11. They demanded arbitrary changes that resulted in a worse character and playing experience.

In my humble opinion, Kung Lao is unique and fun in Mortal Kombat 1.

Exactly. I play MK1 Lao in a similar style I played MK9.

If anything just give d1 more range to punish down pokes.

players forget this is a kameo game.
With this logic in mind any character has a teleport.

Kung lao lacks his teleport but it’s not happening this late in game. I want his EX projectiles do something worthwhile..

  • Make his EX air buzzsaw pop like Kitana’s new air fan toss.
  • Make his EX hat toss an overhead.
  • Make his EX buzzsaw like in MK9.
  • Extend his down one poke (it’s too short)
  • Make his Back + BP, BK safe on block.

Why ask what we want to see changed if you think he doesn’t need more than a better down 1 and faster armor?

I see no point to keep his EX projectiles untouched. They do nothing extra while you spend meter on them..

This is a whole lot of crying.

Kung Lao has solid, mostly safe mix. He's got decent fireballs, the whiff recovery on his divekick is practically non-existant. He's got good staggers, an armored launcher, he's got a great d4 that guarantees pressure on hit, like he's got all the tools to be a good character in this game.

I know Kung Lao players are used to not playing footsies and just divekicking everywhere, but we're in a New Era now. You have to use SOME of your brain cells.

Having to actually play the game is not a regression; it's progression.

So? Give him his teleport, the one he can do in the air.
He doesn't need it. He can get in fine without it and matches where you think you need a teleport to get through zoning, you've got Sub Zero Kameo just sitting there.

Kung Lao players are just the worst.

Geras players, on the other hand, are classy gentlemen and kind souls.

Also two of those meterless combos does more damage than any of those 3 bar, impractical af MK9 Lao combos.

The only constant in Lao is divekick, he jumps and finds oportunities to punish mistakes with dive kicks, but there is more to lao than this even in mk9, MKXL and MK11

There is no plinking string pressure to cause chip like he did in the past 3 games, even this which is a Lao constant since MK3 they managed to pull out.

Lao is a fucking Shaolin, like any other Shaolin before him, in MK games this is an archtype, they are light on their feet, they punch fast, some like Liu Kang, Kick fast, they run and walk on air, some like Kung Lao, can change direction mid air, they do chinese shaolin movie shit on screen, but somehow NRS forgot this and now we have these versions, which managed to be a turn off, it doesn't play or feel like playing Lao, there is too much unfamiliarity to what KL usually represents, and maybe it's one of the reasons why i feel like this game isn't for me.

Counting the fact that he has air hat toss now, i still ask myself "why did they gave him that" this essentially removes one of the particularities of the character which is to take risk with dive kick punishes, he has to be sharp on that reaction, he does well he kills you, he doubts himself, he dies.

Now he just throws off a hat, and if you jump into it or catches you on the face ggs

This Lao doesn't need teleport, more so when he has Air Hat, which i honestly hate and defeats the whole purpose of playing Lao and taking risks with his main source of Income, it's like saying "This is something Lao would never do personality wise, imagine him seeing Kitana throwing fans in the air for years and during mk1 he decides like (yeah, i can do that too) boy".

Here's a hint: It is not doing the same thing we've been doing for 14 years.

it has purpose it's plus, but that's defeats the whole purpose, lao was never supposed to be plus on strings, he needs to be minus to "invite" you into stop his pressure so he can jump back and dive kick your mistake, he gets right you die, he gets wrong he dies, you hesitate, THEN the mental advantage allows him to keep going, he doubts himself, you regain your neutral, that's Lao bro.
Now he does this over and over and over, yes it's fairly easy (that's why it's boring) on top of that, if they hesitate now you have B2, F2 jump back and Kameo setups.
