I've seen next to no hype for this character, but I'm excited and see Ghostface as an Iconic face of the Slasher genre. I personally dressed as him for Halloween on more than one occasion as a kid.

Personally hoping for rushdown, possibly even command grabs. Biggest hope is some silly references to Scary Movie, the cult classic Parody of the Genre.

I've seen a lot of people mention the different Scream masks for gear, I deadass did not know he even had different masks other than the Scary Movie tongue one.

Ghostface has an actual personality, so I'm hopeful that at least aesthetically he's cool. Gameplay wise I don't see him being interesting at all unless they make him a prop fighter.

To be entirely fair, the masks are all extremely similar with very subtle changes to the expression depending on if the director wanted him to appear more menacing or more in pain or more creepy. Then there's the TV series mask, the Scary Movie mask, a bunch of spin off concepts, and the mask from SHRIEK, a parody similar to Scary Movie.

I didn't see these "he's a regular guy," people out and about as much for Leatherface.

I also didn't see anyone wonder how in the fuck anyone on the MK roster could stop a Viltrumite or Kratos.

I think a stealth knife fighter will work just fine in this game. Worst case scenario, if him being "normal," is an issue, just say he was sucked into the netherrealm somehow and got extra strong from all the hell juices. Honestly I'm holding out hope that they go the comedy route with him, but I'll be just as happy with an edge lord serial killer.

The more I think about this character the more I want to main them. Please be OP top 1 broke asf.

I was. I fucking hated Leatherface because he was exactly what I thought he'd be. They really had to stretch to reach that 3 variation limit there. Bros really said "Fuck it. In this third variation he throws the chainsaw. And thats it"

they're really not giving us much to be hype about. it's likely they will have corny lines like I can see Johnny Cage saying some like "please don't kill me, I wanna be in the sequel" and stuff like "i will gut you like a fish!" and fatality that are likely him doing something similar to the halloween paid fatality where he just hangs the victor like did Drew Barrymore. Or knocking the character to the cage mansion like her football player boyfriend. and I dunno. all the massive leaks that ended up being true for the game and the characters just don't really have me super excited. and Ghostface will likely just have a weapon this a different knife and color swaps like the others. IMO...they need to speed up this slow burn, give more free skins, and i don't know. I know a friend who thinks the T1000 is super cool, but she has no interest to run out and buy the game. I mean, i will likely get it but i'm not near as thrilled or excited before.

Killer Leatherface was by far my favorite thing about MKX, but Pretty Lady was as stretched as stretched could be.

So the switch I'm referring to is from when the time limit runs out. I'm not talking about when Ghostface manually switches. Its like Shang's morph in MK11. If the timer runs out at the wrong time, you're getting fucked up. And sure, you could use a kameo to make it safe, but at what cost? You spent a bar to switch, and half your kameo meter for what? Other characters use that to take half of your life.

And I'm not really seeing the appeal of Kobra specifically. They said the shoulder tackle is safe when EXed, but if you're already using a kameo to make your Switch safe, why not use it to make your base form specials safe? And he has that wheel kick that launches when EXd, but are you really going to spend 2 bars just for one launch? He already has meterless launchers. Kobra has a Rekka too, which seems like one of the dumbest things you could give to a stance thats on a timer. The entire point of a Rekka is to stagger them and create a mindgame, but if you're on a timer, you're not gonna have much time to stagger or trick me before that timer runs out and I'm buttfucking you.

For what? If they try to punish you and get hit with some 'nades, that's likely a combo or pressure(like every other set up like this in the game).

If they block and wait for the ambush, congratulations you've successfully safely switched.

Additionally, 12 seconds to apply Rekka pressure is a LOT, considering you can apply that guess in a second or two? And the EX launch is just another option. The idea is to give players lots of options.

Lots to wait and see. Need that frame data. The shoulder could easily be safe at distance without meter, and if the Rekka is actually good unlike Takeda's then hell yeah its worth it.

As a life-long Shang main the "un-morph" has pretty much always made transforming a net-negative. We'll have to see how vulnerable is on the recovery though, if you are only vulnerable at the start and are immune to hit stun then we are off to a good start.

Thinking about using Sareena for that extra meter gain.

Base form already has mixups tho. He can do his command grab out of his command run, meterlessly. Which more than likely will launch with kameos. So I'm just not seeing the point of spending meter to maybe mix somebody up, because these aren't situations like Smoke Invis or Geras Double Time where you're spending meter for some ultra grimey shit. You're spending meter to stagger somebody lol

If you watched the QA match, you can see Ghostface get hit out of command run when they try to do it off of a string.

And no, you're not just "spending meter to stagger somebody."

You're spending meter for fast fireballs(including a diagonal one that recovers very fast), a re-stand, pressure, and another launcher option.

Part of mental stack in fighting games is being able to throw different stuff at the opponent to try and open them up. Kobra is just another layer. Another option.
