Khaos Reigns Patch Notes 9/24/2024 (via MK's Discord)

Patch notes being posted in MK's official Discord:

• Various fixes to improve game stability
• Added a new [High] value for the existing Motion Blur setting, with the previous [ON] setting now being noted as [Medium]
• Added AMD FSR 3 Image Reconstruction as an additional Upscaling option available
• Added a new graphical setting to disable the Film Grain effect
• Updated Nvidia DLSS Image Reconstruction plugin to version 3.7.1 and changed the Upscaling Preset used to C
• Implemented first pass of Razer RGB peripheral support for certain in-game sequences
• Reworked file structure to optimize future Patch download & install sizes (Note that additional optimization to reduce Patch install & download size is unlikely to be possible)
• Various UI fixes and improvements
• Various Mouse & Keyboard input device related fixes
• Resolved issues that occurred when using Low graphics settings
• Further optimized the PSO Shader Cache boot flow for certain hardware set-ups
• Updated PC Hardware System Spec information to reference more recent hardware and provide additional context for target Resolution & Settings
• Additional Story Content has been added – Part 2: Khaos Reigns
• Additionally, all Mortal Kombat 1 owners will have access to new Arenas, new Arena Variants, & Animalities, the fan-favorite finishing moves that haven’t been seen since the ‘90s, allowing fighters to channel their inner animals. These features will be available on September 24 as a FREE content update in conjunction with the Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns release.

• Added new Kombo Attack Volcanic Palm (Away + Back Punch, Front Punch)

Raiden
• Enhanced Lightning Port has less damage scaling and on hit disables the opponent's ability to Breaker or use a Kameo until they land
• Fixed Enhanced Lightning Port having a stricter input window compared to other special move cancels
• Fixed specific input sequence to execute Uppercut Jump Cancel causing Lightning Port to be performed instead

Scorpion
• Blazing Charge hit animation adjusted, now has 19 more frames of advantage on hit

• Fixed incorrect attack coming out when performing a buffered attack after Bodied (Jump Back Punch, Back Kick)
• Fixed Kartwheel having incorrect frame data shown in Practice Mode

Smoke
• Increased hit region on Smoked Out (Up + Front Punch, Front Punch, Back Punch)

• Invisibility now goes away when hit by a parry attack

• Deity Push now has a different hit reaction with increased damage scaling
• Seeking Guidance now takes 5 frames longer to charge each Guidance level (Enhanced Seeking Guidance is unchanged)
• During Heavenly Hand, holding Front Punch allows you to spend Guidance charge to increase projectile speed and damage
• During Spinning Split Kicks, holding Back Kick allows you to spend Guidance charge to become projectile invulnerable and perform all attacks on block
• During Drill Kick hit reaction, holding Away + Back Kick allows you to spend Guidance charge to perform Deity Push
• During Drill Kick hit reaction, holding Towards + Back Kick allows you to spend Guidance charge to perform Umgadi Evade
• Fixed issues with Guidance lingering in certain situations

Omni-Man
• Around The World (Towards + Back Punch) now causes a bounce hit reaction instead of a splat knockdown

Homelander
• Fixed Diabolical Dash > The Seven Slam damage scaling when interrupted using default interrupted damage scaling instead of command grab damage scaling
• Fixed Diabolical Dash > The Seven Slam not doing additional damage against an opponent performing Up Block
• Fixed being able to move outside of the arena constraints briefly after hitting with (Air) Diabolical Dash > Vought Drop
• Fixed (Air) Delay God Complex not being possible when (Air) God Complex is performed at the lowest possible height
• Fixed issue with Flight speed being reduced after performing (Air) God Complex
• Fixed issue with endurance fights being delayed if (Air) Diabolical Dash > Vought Drop is used as the final hit on an opponent
• Fixed camera becoming misaligned during Blast Off when playing online and experiencing connection issues

• Twisting Blades (Front Punch, Back Punch) first & second hit do 10 more damage

• Gate Splitter (Away + Back Punch) has 1 more active frame and had its hitbox adjusted

• If an allied Kameo interrupts Takeda after Smart Shuriken has touched the ground, the Shuriken will no longer disappear
• Fixed clipping issues when Enhanced Rushing Nimbus Attack is performed near Frost (Kameo) Ice Wall
• Fixed missing visual effects when more than six Smart Shurikens are used in rapid succession
Cyrax (Kameo)
• Self-Destruct no longer lingers when the round ends
• Fixed Horizontal Kopter Chopper chosen hit direction not working in certain circumstances during juggles

Darrius (Kameo)
• Ground Invitational and Army of Two can now be performed after Volleyballistic
• Fixed Army of Two attack going in the wrong direction under certain circumstances
• Fixed Heelturn being possible for an extended period of time if the opponent remains idle after being knocked down
• Fixed several situations where Darrius would not take damage or cause recharge delay when he is interrupted
• Fixed situation that could cause Volleyballistic to be possible from very far distance from his partner

Frost (Kameo)
• Fixed Ice Krash & Frosty's Revenge not being possible as a reversal
• Fixed visual issues that could occur with Ice Krash when performed on The Pyramid Arena Top Variant

Goro (Kameo)
• Fixed Punch Walk cancelled into Shokan Stomp causing slight damage to Goro's Partner
• Punch Walk can no longer be cancelled into other Kameo moves while Kameos are disabled

Jax (Kameo)
• Added new move Gotcha Grab

Kano (Kameo)
• Eye Laser now has multiple hits when blocked & has a longer recharge delay

Kung Lao (Kameo)
• Added new moves Orbiting Hat & Wobbly Hat
• Spin can no longer sometimes auto face during the first few frames
• Buzz Saw can no longer sometimes auto face during the first few frames

Motaro (Kameo)
• Fixed issue when Reflect parries a non-reflectable projectile that allowed the opponent to block punishes during their recovery
• Fixed rare instances of missing visual & sound effects when Motaro is hit by certain attacks

Sektor (Kameo)
• Added alternate Fatal Blow attack by pressing R1 during startup
• Activate Homing is now performed by holding R1
• Tele-Punch starts up 2 frames faster
• Fixed visual issue with Up Rocket causing ground impact effects after it has been parried

Shujinko (Kameo)
• Added new move Kingdoms Krumble
• Added new move Waterfall Chop
• Fixed interrupting Shujinko during Death's Embrace (Ermac) causing an excessively long recovery for his partner

Sonya (Kameo)
• Added new moves (Air) Ricochet Dive Kick & (Air) Bicycle Kick follow-up attack
• Sonya is now vulnerable for 17 more frames after Leg Grab misses

Sub-Zero (Kameo)
• Added new moves Deep Freeze & Iceball Special

• If either of the first two hits during Roll are Up Blocked, the final hit will not come out

Dude ive moved past mk9.. you forgot i was a top MKX player as well. Ppl like you have come up with every reason why the competitive scene is the way it is except for the fact that people just don’t like the game. Mortal Kombat is currently the most balanced final fighting game out and yet it is in the gutter of all fighters. Other games that have a significantly higher power level by a mile are burying Mortal Kombat into the dirt. Cyrax is FAR from broken in this game and for anyone to say she is just show that they may be has a fundamental misunderstanding fighting games in general.
I never said Cyrax in MK1 is broken, I was talking about Cyrax in MK9. Whether he is broken in MK1 remains to be seen, its too early. I am mainly refering to you saying every character needs "bullshit" which, lets face it, means broken stuff otherwise why call it bullshit.

I am all for buffing characters to an acceptable level where the game is still fun to play. I find the gap between characters like Cage and Sub in MK1 ridiculous whereas one is braindead and literally has everything and the other doesn't have anything. Instead of them nerfing Cage, buff Sub, definitely. But you keep referencing characters like MK9 Cyrax and MK9 Kabal like it was a good thing and it really wasn't. Thats taking it too far to a level that IS broken and ISN'T fun and certainly not acceptable in today's fighting game standards.

Why do I feel like power level means broken? (broken=unfun to play against)
Adjust moves and specials that are rarely used, increases the power level but keep it in line with the rest of the kit. I watched your vids IceClone (entertaining I give you that) and I don't think your buffs for sub are bullshit but still increase the power level. I am all for giving sub his most iconic move back, ICEBALL. FREE ICEBALL!
(I am not scared of this move, not even close, jet I am far from meta ...)

ps: sometimes I wished all this "drama" (which I don't think is "that" crazy toxic, lots of argues no crazy personal attacks) would just be on display in tournaments. Tekken8 has also drama right now, it's not just MK like many like to think.
In the end we all just want to enjoy playing a badass fighting game, killing each other and laugh. :laughing:
 
Crazy as Hell to say NRS isn't creative anymore when theirs still a lot of neat designs and ideas in the game. People would take Dave and Tom more seriously if their claims weren't so insane. Ain't no one got beef with people wanting better numbers and features, just some of y'all are mad weird about it. MK1 blows SFV out of the water but the way some people talk about it, you'd think MK1 was the game that shipped with eight frames of input delay and bare bones ass characters.
 
The truth is, there’s no reason for any of us to argue and neither side seems willing to compromise. I’m not saying the bullshit needs to be at the level of a game like Mortal Kombat 9, but please remember that even as BS as that game was and with all the bugs it had, people still put up with it because they loved it all while acknowledging all of his flaws.

Same for MKX.. The game was complete bullshit, and as Crimson will point out, had many things that were very frustrating to fight and seemed to receive a balance patch every other week. However, even with all of this, it had over 1100 players and its first Evo, and even in year 2 (when everyone says the game dies down) it still had over 700. I’m not saying this is God‘s gift fighting games, far from it. What I’m saying is that despite everything that we disliked about the game, it was still enjoyable enough to play despite the BS in it.

MK11 was as bland and watered down as it gets. It is a strong candidate for the worst fighting game ever created in modernity. However, even with that being said, it still had 1575 entrance at EVO in 2019. Even through Covid people still largely entered online tournaments and supported the game. Like the SF5 community, Mortal Kombat players were supporting the game. Even I went to a tournament (Summer Jam) for this game, even though I was retired. People were supporting the community. What had things take a turn for the worst is when there was no more content coming and it seemed like every other major fighting game got an overhaul. DBFZ, SF5, T7 all got a major overhaul, and all we got from Mortal Kombat is we are no longer working on the current game and we have moved on to the next one. This news is what started so much of the discontent.

MK1 launched in a terrible state, and besides the lack of content, people just were not happy with the gameplay either. Is it very slowly getting better? Yes.. but they are being too cautious right now. I’m not saying the game needs to have the level of garbage that MK9 or MKX had, but there needs to be a compromise between omega power level and almost no power level and, NRS just does not seem to be able to create an in between.

I certainly do not want the competitive scene to shrink. I want the game to succeeded and I want the scene to grow. We want the same thing. The problem is the people here don’t seem to acknowledge the fact that the main reason that the numbers are so low is that most people are not happy with the game. if they gave the game a moderate power boost overall peoples opinions would change immediately. They don’t have to break it, but a moderate boost is just what it needs.

Overall I have a lot of fun with the game (could become my fav in the franchise) but I kinda play it like a "casual". I like collecting stuff in invasions. (the new extra rain stage was nice and not expected)
I leveled all fighters + kameos to max. lots of fun exploring all the brutals.
This game to me has lots of content, I don't even get to play ranked in my spare time and if I want to play ranked, I get reminded how terrible it is, not being able to practice, kills me.
You know, I decline ALL WiFi-warriors because I just know better. So if you watch this lame background and decline 1, 2 and 3 WiFi-warriors in a row ... you can just not enjoy the game AT ALL.
In Tekken, a massage pops up, while I train and if I see Wi-Fi, it's declined in 23 frames. And I can again play in practice mode. NICE!

I already know how much fun (no irony) I will have unlocking all brutals, 33 fighters each 2 x 6000 = 396.000 coins. I don't cheat, so I will have a lot of fun, that has nothing to do with competitive play.

I must say the new map in invasions is great but as a gamer, I wished it would have on top "fog of unknown". So basically, if you just go everywhere once, you see all. I mean, you know what I mean.

When people say and suggest that a charcater is broken/too strong, they are looking at it withing the confines of MK 1 specifically.
While you compare it to power levels of previous games and it then creats a disconnect in the discussion.

We cant cross compare between titles to determine if something is broken/OP in MK1,we have to look at MK 1 individually.

So even though yes the power level of cyrax in mk1 is weaker then power level of characters in previous games that doesnt me its not broken simply by that merit.Because we cant copare cyrax tools to previous games but cyrax tools compared to the rest of the mk1 cast.

So it is very possible that cyrax is not nearly broken compared to mk9 kabal or mkx alien but still be considered broken in MK 1 as the rest of the characters have even less opressive /difficult to deal with tools and options to combat the tools and strategies cyrax has in mk1.

I think its wrong to say dont make changes to mk1 cyrax because its not as strong as mkx alien.Changes to a character should be done based on how strong it is relative to the rest of the cast within that game and the games system and philosphy.Weather its buffing weaker characters or adjusting strong characters or a combination of both.
 
The problem is no one is ever willing to compromise… on anything. So, a lot of these discussions just look like people talking to walls. Also, stop being so angry at one another. Not saying we need to be singing kumbaya while holding hands, but holy shit, calm the fck down and just discuss things like mature people.

I actually agree about the power level thing. But it’s something I’ve been saying for years that no one ever pays attention to. Other than people saying it’s silly to do things like buff far more often than you nerf. However, the toxicity IS contributing to people not wanting to participate in the game or community. Why would someone new want to play a game that the very community is shitting on and fighting each other about constantly? I’d avoid that community and game like the plague.

Aside from all that, the smugness needs to stop. I realize that this post itself can come off as smug, but seriously, stop thinking you have all the answers and everyone else are morons. You’re just creating more space between what you want and what is actually happening. Yes I’m smug too but I’m autistic so it actually doesn’t count. (Jk about it not counting)

This does not exist in MK1, while cyrax is not just going crazy but on top has now an assist system.

It's good you're putting your word down but ultimately you're wasting your breath. Some people just lack the nuance to understand the difference between OP, braindead mechanics and healthy power lvls. These same people keep screaming that the driest characters like SZ, Li Mei, Smoke, Reptile, etc. are absolutely fine and they need NOTHING. Yet, no one plays them EVER competitively and probably never will :laughing:
 
In my humble opinion, the worse modern fighting games are easily Mortal Kombat 11 and Mortal Kombat 1. These games are essentially trash. I would play vanilla Street Fighter 5 over them any day of the week.
There's no way you can believe this lol. We were both around for prime MKX, and considered it absolute garbage with literally one way to play every character on the roster. Yea the power levels may have been higher, but it doesn't matter when the game is X amount of characters all doing the same thing the same way. On top of that, any time a character dare play different and were strong they were nerfed hard, Pyro Tanya, Cyber Sub, etc. The run button. The Alien mirrors. The Demo Sonya. The Erron Black. Etc etc. None of this was "fun" at all, it was just stronger characters designed in the most boring linear way that could have just been a 1-character game. MK1 in it's current state is probably the 2nd best/most fun MK even though the overall game still feels like it's missing things. Sektor, Cyrax, and Noob alone in MK1 have more originality and uniqueness than the entire MKX roster. MK9 > MK1 >> MK11 >>>>> MKX.

This here is pretty much Inj1 Batgirl level if you didn't make the exact read you would have to make the 1 chance you have. In addition, Cyrax has stuff similar to this. Noob has stuff like this. Sektor doesn't to this extent, but has other ways to dominate you and also can 85% you in the corner if you armored while also staying safe/plus. Sindel can already do things like this with multiple kameos. Homelander can do similar. Scorpion/Ferra can loop you for 80% if you don't guess right. Shang is about to be unlocked from what I'm hearing about his updates. Etc etc.

Remember, the game has changed A LOT since 2023. The above just outright didn't exist in the "Baraka/Cyrax, Raiden/Cyrax, Johnny/Cyrax" era of the game that made me outright drop it for months. It is no longer "MK11 with assists", it has changed a ton. To me it looks like they are doing exactly what you're asking about making many characters stronger across the board.

Sektor doesn't to this extent, but has other ways to dominate you and also can 85% you in the corner if you armored while also staying safe/plus. Sindel can already do things like this with multiple kameos. Homelander can do similar. Scorpion/Ferra can loop you for 80% if you don't guess right. Shang is about to be unlocked from what I'm hearing about his updates. Etc etc.

Remember, the game has changed A LOT since 2023. The above just outright didn't exist in the "Baraka/Cyrax, Raiden/Cyrax, Johnny/Cyrax" era of the game that made me outright drop it for months. It is no longer "MK11 with assists", it has changed a ton. To me it looks like they are doing exactly what you're asking about making many characters stronger across the board.
Can you say what is the mechanism behinde noob doing what is shown,a tod/reset what exatcly is involved for the reset to happen?


Without spoiling the combo as I havent bought him yet and want to explore and discover his routes and combos myself.

Noob can loop you, you still have to guess, but is more of a guess wrong and dead situation than reset you into death. Still hella strong. Noob also hits 40% meterless lol. As far as the play itself, just look at the first 5 minutes of this and tell me this is low power:

Ahh i see so its more like a full combo into a mix situation that leads to another full combo.
The way you worded it above i tought he had a reset type situation akin to havik or the new shang if the opponent uses goro kameo situation.

Yeah from what i seen he looks to be a very fun character im looking forward to labbing his routes,40% meterless soudns jucy hahah

There's SO much tech in that Ninja video alone for Noob that it could be a guide. I legit made a couple of notes to lab some stuff this weekend from watching it last night. Crazy stuff.
 
There's no way you can believe this lol. We were both around for prime MKX, and considered it absolute garbage with literally one way to play every character on the roster. Yea the power levels may have been higher, but it doesn't matter when the game is X amount of characters all doing the same thing the same way. On top of that, any time a character dare play different and were strong they were nerfed hard, Pyro Tanya, Cyber Sub, etc. The run button. The Alien mirrors. The Demo Sonya. The Erron Black. Etc etc. None of this was "fun" at all, it was just stronger characters designed in the most boring linear way that could have just been a 1-character game. MK1 in it's current state is probably the 2nd best/most fun MK even though the overall game still feels like it's missing things. Sektor, Cyrax, and Noob alone in MK1 have more originality and uniqueness than the entire MKX roster. MK9 > MK1 >> MK11 >>>>> MKX.
I heavily criticized MKX, but when Tremor was released, I played the game a lot. One of the longest casual sets that I have ever had was in MKX. My cousin and I played for 14 hours straight. LOL.

As Tom stated, MKX was certainly not God's gift to fighting games. However, the absurd power levels and erratic patches made the game exciting and interesting to play and watch. I can think of many other adjectives, positive and negative, to describe MKX. I disagree that the game was boring outside of early block infinite combos.

The problem is no one is ever willing to compromise… on anything.
I do not compromise with people who provide the mildest criticism ever while apologizing to NRS.

However, if I like something based on my consistent principles, I will admit what I like.

Perhaps not in its present form as the evolving meta will make the determination, but I like what I am seeing from Cyrax, Havik, and Sektor.

Anything that deviates from the boring low poke/mid string/throw/micro duck meta ought to be celebrated.

In predictable NRS fashion, Cyrax, Havik, and Sektor will most definitely be nerfed.

And this is exactly what I’ve been advocating against since Injustice. NRS either knee jerk nerfs, nerfs due to backlash, or they’ll nerf a character too much or nerf something that makes no sense, etc. I have long advocated for the buff more than you nerf approach. That doesn’t mean you never nerf, but the goal is to bring everyone up instead of bogging everyone down. It’s also better for the mains of all of these characters. You won’t be afraid to main a top tier character, and you know you’ll eventually be rewarded for mainining a low tier character.

But you should never be in a position where you’ve put hundreds of hours into a character, and then that character gets nerfed to where they’re just a completely different and far worse character (unless of course the character was god tier and completely broken, which in that case everyone who used said character would expect them to be nerfed). Also in a situation like that, a god tier character wouldn’t last that long anyway, so the point is moot.

Reading through the thread it's like deja-vu. For some reason, we keep doing the same things with each new release. At some point we've gotta learn that our community is the only thing that lasts from game to game, regardless of what people think about the current game.

'Rose-colored glasses' definitely influence the way we see past games. MKX was absolutely trashed by our community, but it was given a massive influx of ESL cash and promotion to balance that out.

No one will like every game (MKX wasn’t my cup of tea either), but we need to learn to let the people who like a game play it and just move on and support the scene.
