Noob's hat

The hat is terrible. The first thing I thought when I saw it was that he looks like dowdy old Shelinda in FFX

What a day. What a lovely day.
I find it slightly strange complaining about how a character looks when it's full of customisation options. You'll be able to make him look how you want

This is true, but outside of the gender swap, Noob’s look has been one of main things criticized in the trailer. Customization does not, and should not, excuse poor design choices. At least as far as the majority is concerned.

Like Sub Zero in MK11, my first thought was "child's pirate hat" and now can't unsee it.

MK9 alt skin, which matched Sub Zero's alt skin still remains my favorite:

I think the phrase "full of customisation options" is a bit of an exaggeration this time around.

MK11 - yes. MK1 - no.

Just like Rain, Shao, Kitana and Mileena, we have no idea if the headgear is even his gear piece; it could be just his sickle for example (does he even still have sickle?). And if DLC characters are anything to go by, so far there's been very little in the way of alt skins for the DLC characters, only Quan Chi seems to have been given much attention in MK1. So I wouldn't say we can ever make them look "how [we] want" in MK1 as it's far more restrictive than the last game.

So there's a very good chance if you don't like his little pirate hat, we may all be stuck with it.

I'd be surprised if you couldn't change it but you may be right. I guess my point is in lots of games it's usually just choose the skin. You'll never be able to make them look exactly as you want cos we're not the one designing them. You can make them look how you want with the given options, which is quite a lot. I get not liking it, but I do find it how odd how much people complain about default character designs knowing they'll have the option to change it anyway.

This design of Noob reminds me of Sister Magpie from Re-Loaded. For any of you that don't remember this PS1 classic, Sister Magpie is a robot nun with a gun

The default look is what drives the select screen portrait, health bar avatar, tower portrait, and most opponents you will see of that character. Customizing his look does not update any of these.

That is a 10/10 reference.

Second best game ever made with "Re-" in the title, second only to arguably the greatest racing game ever made: Re-Volt.

I love the hat. I want Noob to be as insane as we would expect a Joker or a Havik to be. His gear should reflect that.
