Perfect Legend speaks on MK9 @ MLG

Carl "Perfect Legend" White send me a video today he made about his thoughts on MK9 at MLG. If you've been living under a rock, MK9 was picked up by Major League Gaming for their Winter Championship Tournament schedule this year. This is huge news for MK9 and eSports in general. Is it confirmed this is in March? At first this was exciting because I assumed it'd be next winter but if it's next month that's ridiculous. There's not enough notice. It's just weeks after Final Round, which almost all top players are already going to. I cannot go to this now and I'm betting many won't either. Then they'll blame us for not supporting the game. :mad:

Good stuff Perfect Legend, top players better put on a good show.

And major props to the behind the scenes people that are going to make it go swimmingly. You guys deserve some credit too.

However, I don't think asking for help on twitter was a good idea. IMO, they probably should have sent messages to site owners to put people up that are reliable. Rather than having a potential mess up from allowing such a wide range of people input their opinion on how things should run. I'm just going to place complete trust the MLG will do enough research to find out who are the best people for the task at hand.

yea, the notice is really fucking short. It's hard enough to travel long ways to tourneys even when you know a year in advance.

It's not about wanting to go. It's about being able to go. I am already traveling to ATL for FR weeks before this, then traveling to Ohio weeks later for PowerUp.

Who gives 8 weeks notice for a tournament, especially in the middle of Evo season?

This really pisses me off.

Well to be fair, it seems that MLG doesn't exactly have that much of a fond relationship with the fighting game community. At least that's the impression that I got when the announcement wa smade and I asked why MLG and e-sports are hated by the FGC.

1) Props to the guy turning cue cards
2) Props to Perfect Legend for making a elegant response video, and using a script
3) Props to Perfect Legend for staging his room that way
4) Props to Perfect Legend for even making a MLG thank you video, I wish more top players would do things like this to show how much we appreciate the support that our game is receiving.

As for the short notice of the tournament, it sucks, but they didn't have to give us a shot at all. So we should not look a gift horse in the mouth, and instead ride that pony to the bank.

Where did you see that it's March? I can't seem to find any information about where or when this is actually happening.

The "Winter Championship" is March 23-25. If that's not what they're talking about they need to be more clear.
