PSA: Unlock content quickly on PC

For any PC players who just want to unlock content as quickly as possible, you can go into your game folder and delete the Movies folder. This will cause the game to go immediately from fight to fight, skipping all cutscenes, and allowing you to beat the game in record time. I, of course, have not tested this on MK1, but it has worked on every other NRS game on PC. Using this trick, I was able to beat MK11 and unlock Frost in roughly 20 minutes. Good luck!

Or you press start and skip it. You did not needed to sit trough them in mk11

Yeah I've played MK9, MKX and MK11 on PC, just not as my main acc. I hate that there's no cross progression

Not at launch they weren't. 9, X, Injustice 2, and 11 were crap at launch on PC. Of course they eventually got fixed, but those launches were seriously horrendous.

I don't remember ever having issues with MK11 on PC, other than getting updates a little later than on console. Previous games definitely had issues, but I think MK11 went pretty smoothly unless I just blocked out the memories lol.

For MK11 I just used the unlocker. It's very cozy having everything outta the way.

Outside of MK X fragmented download fail at launch all other were fine for most people. Not for all people but for most of them it was fine or great. And yes, PC version of the game minus the delayed patches was always by far the best version.

The same can be said for SF VI and Tekken 7(8), PC is just the best, no contest here.

An unlocker tool is almost always released eventually. I'd be surprised if TheThiny isn't already working on one for MK1.

Is that a mod or? I'm not very PC gaming savvy I just hit start on Steam that's all I know it took me longer than I'd care to admit just to get MKXHook eventually working

One warning about using the unlocker: for anyone that actually wants to engage with the single player content like towers, etc, it will completely erase any reason to.
Unless you just like them for some reason.

Yes pc versions are usually better, agree with SF6 for example right now (I'm playing it on PC myself), but all previous NRS games had shit launches. The problems were more common than normal. Literally every single ones.

No, youre taking your own experience and other minority who scream on Steam, Reddit etc.. about problems over million(s) who played all of those at launch and had 0 problems. Like i said for vast majority of people all of these games were fine or even great at launch but not for all, obviously.

Like with all things these days people who have problems scream the laudest over the internet, people who have good or great experience most of the time don't even bother with commenting at all. I had 0 problems with all of these games but every case(on PC) can be different(given how much variety there is with PC hardware).

I would just like to say just cause one person doesn’t have issues doesn’t mean there aren’t problems with pc ports nor does the port possibly work for everyone…I didn’t want that to go discredited…that seems to happen a lot specifically on the steam forms.

only issue I ever had on pc mk was mk 11, there was odd input lag (v sync was already off) on TWO different set ups..took me months to figure out..

Little did I know mk on pc defaults to the monitor refresh rate which in my case was above 60 even though the game is 60. Had to go in and change the refresh rate in game to match the games 60fps and all of a sudden no input lag lol

there is an unlocker for MK11.... but you need to compete at least 1 game in a kombat league season to get the kombat league skins that have not been added to the alter.

I recall having incessant crash issues in Injustice 2 as well, for what it's worth. The High Voltage era is dead now but I also remember waiting so long for one of the major patches for MKX that I gave up and bought it on PS4. Keep in mind there was no communication during this period. The game entered the "Mixed" review category temporarily around this time IIRC. That was not good, even if unlikely to happen again. Performance was an issue on some stages in the High Voltage port as well.

As I'm older now and have less time for gaming I'm much more into let everyone play as they want without limitations. But the WB Games curse (=make the player as miserable as we can) unfortunately reached MK1 big time. Having one or two unlockable characters for Story is one thing but locking a significant portion of the kameos behind who-knows-what is a bummer.

Can someone list behind a spoiler tag how can we unlock Havik and the 5 kameos? Scorpion kameo is supposedly reaching level 5 as we learned from the Invasion preview and I'm sure some of them are story mode unlockables but even though I wanted to play the Story in the first few days, I wanted to try some kameos in Practice mode first and guess what? They're locked. I'm so pissed because of this and I won't pay for unlocking so I must rush trough some chores instead of playing as I'd like.

So any help would be appreciated. Without spoilers of course (if a kameo is unlockable in Chapter 5 for example, I'd prefer not to know who I have to beat to get it)
