PSA: Xbox Series Version Available for Pre-Install

Hello everyone,

Just a heads up for those who've pre-ordered the game digitally on Xbox Series, the game is now available for pre-install.

I have the Premium Edition pre-ordered on Xbox Series X, and the full install is ~140 GB (just like Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate). Without the 4K Invasions content and 4K Story Mode content, it's ~101 GB. Once you're done with Story Mode itself, you can uninstall it to save space just like with Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate. This will save you ~17.7 GB. You can also uninstall Invasions, it seems, which would save you ~7.7 GB.

I don't have an Xbox Series S, so I can't say that version's size but I'd expect ~100 GB or less.

For those who've pre-ordered via PlayStation 5 and Steam, you'll need to check if pre-install is available yet.

Edits: Corrected incorrect size of Story Mode, added size of Invasions, slightly adjusted formatting.

series s version is just 101 GB because it doesnt support the 4k content. right now everything has to be installed, no separation between story and the rest.

Interesting. Did you install it from the game's title screen? If so that does pre-install everything.

I pressed View on the game's tile in my Full Library, which let's me select the game and see all the content, sizes, etc.

50% done installing as-of-this-typing.

both. i think you always download story and invasions, even on series x, but 4k will be 38 mb more and is just not supported on series s.

On Series X, you can choose not to install Story and Invasions, in addition to opting out of the 4K content.

ah ok. saw nothing like that in "manage game" on series s.

edit: it changed, series s has the options you described now, but 4k only for invasions.

yes, apparently. 4k invasions but no 4k story.

That's still impressive. The console targets 1440p, but occasionally, you do get native 2160p. I wonder if Invasions will be 30 FPS outside of fights?

probably, i see no other way they'd do it and MK is known for switching between 60 and 30. also, its probably only possible to do 4k resolution in invasions because the far-away isometric perspective allows for rather low-res textures.
