New Trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 at Gamescom (Tuesday)

Jynks

some heroes are born, some made, some wondrous
I do not care about reveals for other modes.. the game will be out in a month... and for those who do want to wait there will be 500 billion youtube vids on all that stuff in about 1 hour after launch.... so... yeah it is like 1 month... not long to wait.. so what is the problem?

Personally, I want more character trailers. Everyone of them has been awesome so far.... and for me... roster slots is all I really care about. Everything else is just "extra".

I hope we get a "villain" trailer.

The problem is we don't know much about how the state of the game is going to be because they failed market that portion of the game. I'm glad all you care about is the roster but it won't mean shit without the overall quality of the game.

That's like saying I don't care about the writing and plot of the movie as long as the celebrities are in it.

Well, there is 100% an online game mode featuring ranked and a casual mode and 99% of you will spend 99% of the time in there isn't that right? Story mode is given and you're gonna play through that once and maybe another time before the next game. Some kind of tower mode is also given which will probably be used to unlock stuff. Oh and a practice mode obviously. Maybe a variation of a Krypt mode which is the only real mistery.

I mean, it's a fighting game in a series that has been around for 30 years. You can pretty much guess what main game modes will be and where you will spend the most time in.

Isn't one of the reason we like these games nostalgia? 20-30 years ago devs gave us nothing either and there was excitement when you got a new game to find out all the game modes and content if offers. There was surprise element, there were secrets to find etc. Now people want to know everything ahead, some even like the story spoiled for themselves through leaks. So much has changed not for better or worse but for very weird.

Either he’s dead, or he’s not. Or the cops got him…or they don’t.

Rude is that you? ;)

Jokes aside, I don't see the problem in people wanting more info about integral modes to the game when NRS & WB are wanting people to put down money on their product in what is to be quite frank, a shit economy right now. It's their job to sell the game to people, so start detailing what is cool about your product.

Sure, it doesn't apply to most of us here because I'm sure we have it pre-ordered anyway, but they shouldn't take that for granted and assume they can just give us barebones info because of that. That's called taking the piss out of a fanbase. At the end of the day, if YOU don't want that much info, you are free to ignore it. Don't click the videos they post, and don't tune in to any Kombat Kasts. But because you're okay going in blind in regards to modes, it doesn't mean everybody else is.

I personally would like to find out some more details about their ranked system this time, any new additions to online etc, as well as a brief overview of the Invasion mode. I don't think that is asking for too much, when one of the biggest fighting game franchises in Street Fighter had an actual demo of their new mode MONTHS before release. And they detailed the online modes way in advance too.

Sure this all makes sense but my point was obvioulsly meant, like you probably guessed, for the sample of people that are old school MK/fighting game fans (the majority on this site). All I'm saying is that I'm srurpised how times have changed. Even the old schools don't want elements of surprise and nostalgia from the games they played 30 years ago anymore.

I get that. I do wish there were more actual secrets in the game, which I know is hard because of modern day data mining, people finding things instantly and making videos on them etc. but I do miss that aspect. I even appreciated the secret fights in MK9 and lost my shit when they would appear.
