London UK casuals every week at Gamerbase

Agreed its pretty insane how much it changes your game. Pretty much everyone was blowing up jump in attempts and it actually became about spacing and footsies very quickly.

Who's up for next week? I know Helter talked about making it a twice a month event seeing as many have to travel but it would be good to get another session in before France.

Great games to all I played last night. This game is so much better offline, where you can actually react instead of predict!

Last hour took its toll, brain and eyes had all they could take by then!

Everyone was laid back and helpful too, very welcoming. Would urge everyone and anyone to at least try it if you're mming n ahing.

Also no-one checked ID or anything of the sort, so Omega get your ass down here!

I'll try and make it down, but I wont be able to come on college days. The one time I'm not at college in the next few weeks is just before WGC, so I'm not sure it would be a great turnout. I'll go anyway, but I'm just saiyan.

I really, really hope this UK offline scene takes off, because now I fully appreciate how garbage online is and losing to online BS. I can't see myself playing this game for long, if online is all there is to offer.

That was the only negative of the session. I simply don't want to play online anymore but its that or play ladder.

Yeah, I mean I probably can make casuals once a fortnight which is a shame, but the only way to improve between offline sessions is to play online?? Training room can get boring fast, and there is no one near me that plays this game.

Good games to all who i played, i was having pad problems despite buying one on the day, the guy who sold me it is gonna get a slapping.

Learned plenty and got loads of practice against different characters who i wouldnt usually see, kano and jade to name some. Played some good games with everyone, and considering the offline scene was made up of online players, everybody was tearing it up, hope to be down again after WGC.

Kano is SO much more annoying offline. His block strings give him a d1~choke which is safe. He has a rather good 50/50 off of a JiP.

Kano is a great character, i find its the threat of his ranged moves like ball and knifes make me want to play up close, although his pressure and rush is really good too. Theres no happy medium with him until i learn the matchup

Stream is almost definitely out of the question. We run the MK Casuals in the back room during "Winner Stays On" the weekly UMVC3 tournament, and us streaming too would be bad for the bandwidth.

More players coming out of hiding to play MK offline is what were looking for, streams probably the least important thing about the gathering. No point streaming if nobody turns up is there...

Lol, yeah, given that it's offline AA D1's would actually be practical I guess. I'll be there next week, like I said though, I'm liable to get a fire lit under my arse (maybe literally if there's any competent Scorpions, LOL), so I'll probably train like fuck and want to go the week after too xD

Yes lads! Although the train was a bit of a shambles it was a fun night. Just so good playing offline against a variety of people. I don't know why but I didn't expect Gamerbase to be a really lively place, I be there every week if i lived in London. Good to see a Jade player which was beasty and as always enjoyed getting raped by Foxy's Cage. Didn't get to play everyone but next time i'll be sure to.

Yeah, what I like about Kano is these three things:

1) He isn't the best zoner in the game
2) He doesn't have the best rushdown in the game
3) But he is good at BOTH, something a lot of characters, with the obvious exception to Kabal, can't do.

Kano I think is a perfect example of a balanced character. Last night I was watching Isaac and BeeNeeWeeNee's Kanos after casuals, in action, and I want to introduce more of Kanos B1, d1, F1, D1, F11...into pressure like they do. Im pretty sure his choke is 0 frames on block. His 112 also builds like, 28% of one bar on block.

Kano gives a lot of characters trouble, especially Reptile and Kitana (imo), but he strangely struggles against Jade and Baraka. Noob Saibot is hands down his worst match up. Kabal and Kenshi are pretty bad as well.

I have no doubt and for two reasons:
1. I only like MK and sports games
2. This game is genuinely the best game I have ever played. I enjoy it so much and I don't see myself getting bored.

I just hope that this weekly thing at Gamerbase lasts till September

Noob? how? Don't you just blow up all of his projectiles by jumping and kano ball?
