Best fatalities so far?

I think they're going to end up being better than MK11 at least. I love to see the actual winner(s) posing at the end lol

Anyway, best ones in my opinion so far:

Main roster:
  1. Li Mei
  2. Kitana
  3. Johnny Cage

Kameo:
  1. Sonya
  2. Jax
  3. Sub-Zero

This reminded me we haven't seen many kameo fatalities so far. Now I'm curious... I wanna see Cyrax, Sektor, Goro, Darrius, Motaro fatalities!

How can cage be 3rd when we haven’t seen it in full yet?

Idk I just feel like because it’s incomplete you can’t give it a grade yet. What if the part you haven’t seen makes it worse or better to you? Then you’d have to change its ranking

Li Mei has the best one so far
I would like Liu Kang’s way more if it weren’t a repeated fatality (Triborg’s)

I love Kitana’s but the fact that she shreds her opponent into pieces, yet there’s a big ass bone sticking out at the end bothers me so much lol

The Li Mei fatality is one of the all-time greats, so it has to be that one. Going to be very hard to top.

Have they commented on if they’re bringing MK11 style Brutalities or not? I really hope they are, because I really don’t like the fatalities in the newer games. Not that they aren’t cool or anything, they just take way too long. And on top of that, you are given way too long to do them. Brutalities are perfect because they’re still technically fatals, but they’re quick AND they’re harder to pull off making them much cooler to do imo.

Well everyone still had the d2 brutality in the stress test so I would assume they would. It’d be a bummer if they were gone.

Oh really? That’s great news! I had no idea, I didn’t see any videos of anyone performing the d2 brutals in the stress test. But I’ll have to look that up, thanks for the info

I imagine cyrax will have his helicopter one and sektor his compacter one. Curious if Darrius will have his rearrange limbs one :laughing:

Li Mei's is great and clearly popular.

But I also love Sub-Zero's which looks like a reference to Tessai's death in Ninja Scroll.

it's definitely too early but once the game is out I will create my own detailed ranking for both Main Roster & Kameos fatalities. I did that for MK11 on a biggest polish forum already, so yea - I think I just like to analyze gross things.

For now from Main:

Kameos - I know they are throwbacks but I'm quite surprised that they've picked that exact one for Jax. Why not klassic handclap or arm rip? I always thought that this growing gigantic fatality was one of the worst in whole MK history, somewhere near infamous Quan Chi giraffe, so I'm not sure why they decided to brought it back

  1. Sub-Zero - absolute klassic and badass
  2. Scorpion - because of the bones flying after explosion
  3. Kano

Sub-Zero's is easily my favorite. Its super simple, and brutal af. Those are always my favorite fatalities. Li Mei's is good because of the spectacle, but I personally don't like fatalities like Tanya's where they get killed instantly and everything else is just extra.

I don't like Kenshi's either. The beginning is good with the whole blender part, but then they don't do anything with it and just take the sword out to cut them in half. There's no flow to it, the beginning was just fluff.

Liu's is good, but its a really unfair comparison because whenever I see it all I can think of is how incredible it looked in the reveal CGI trailer, and how okay it looks in game.

I actually like Kitana's because of how stupid and goofy it is. Watch her fatality right now and tell me you couldn't imagine it being in MK3.

I can relate to your opinion, because I also don't like "torturing the guy who is already dead things" and I totally agree here.

But I just cannot see how the Sub-Zero fatality can be considered as best.

First of, his "boomerang ice" - what a ridiculous idea. Splitting someone in half - I kind of getting, but why the boomerang - so goofy and not fitting Sub-Zero at all
Secondly, "kick to the face" that just turned your head around 180 degrees - again, super-goofy and pointless

The only thing that can somehow be defended is the 3rd part - lifeless body just sliding from the ice pick - but the first two parts are totally anti-climatic and are making me laugh instead of thrilled/excited for what is going to happen.

And yes, I get that they said multiple times that they want to do fatalities less realistic, more ridiculous etc. because people working will have PTSD, but still - that whole boomerang and head-turn part is too much. Really hope his 2nd fatality is decent.

You're using the word goofy like MK hasn't always embraced goofy as part of its fatalities and overall aesthetic. Personally I love it when they go full goofy and ridiculous with them, as they should. We aren't watching Saw, MK is meant to be a bit light-hearted and comical about the way it portrays violence at times

Yea, I know. But I can distinguish when something is goofy yet with good taste (like, let's say - Erron's bear trap from MK11) and fits particular character and when something is a goofy overkill or just goofy nonsense. IMO (I underline that, but we are on forum, one can say his own opinions, right?) that fatality doesn't fit Sub-Zero, it's not logical and contains parts that are totally ridiculous, like boomerang-ice that we have never seen (and was never needed) for Sub-Zero before.

I do agree that yeah the boomerang part is nonsense, he can't telepathically control his ice axe. But at the same time I look at old fatalities like Jax's growth one (which I know you're not a fan of so it makes sense you wouldn't like Sub's), where growing huge has NEVER been a power of his. But I dunno, I just like the absurdity of it? As long as it results in a creative, cool fatality I don't tend to mind the logic behind it - it's probably why I quite like Sub's new one haha. Though I still think Li Mei's is the best. Proper creative, old school fatality.

So far? Sub-Zero. It’s so brutal. My least favorite has to be Liu Kang’s, I feel like it needed something else, not sure what.
