No, it's the fact that companies still make console exclusives lmao.Console clingers are what keep gaming in the stone age...in general.
Yeah I only have time to play games like 2-3 hours per week at most so if my gaming system doesn’t put out 8 million pee pees per poo poo, it doesn’t bother me, I’ll just buy an Xbox, play when I can, and be done with it.Console clingers are what keep gaming in the stone age...in general.
how dare you to copy me and keep gaming into stone age?Yeah I only have time to play games like 2-3 hours per week at most so if my gaming system doesn’t put out 8 million pee pees per poo poo, it doesn’t bother me, I’ll just buy an Xbox, play when I can, and be done with it.
It's actually more the economic and supply fallout of the pandemic. We're well over 2 years into the current generation and we're still cross gen because the newer hardware just hasn't been easy to acquire. The base PlayStation 4 is still the most common console in the wilds, and that's a strong contributor to "holding gaming back."Console clingers are what keep gaming in the stone age...in general.
Thankfully that's a dying trend. Xbox has been releasing their first party titles on PC at the same time as console since late 2016, and Sony is now committed to bringing their first party titles to PC as well (though there's usually a few year gap). Nintendo is still an outlier. No, it's the fact that companies still make console exclusives lmao.
Yeah I'm just not convinced it'll ever go away completely. Like sure they're porting titles years later, but the 'exclusivity' of getting it day 1 is still going to be there unless they decide to release on PC at the same time. Which I see as very unlikely, since they want to be set apart from Xbox. Like what would be the point of buying a console if all the game are also coming out on PC? Unless you can't afford a mid to high end PC, there would be no reason to.Thankfully that's a dying trend. The interesting point to all that is there currently is no point to getting either a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X outside of personal preference; PC is the superior option. Sony's first party titles are all single player experiences, meaning there's no rush at all to purchase any of them. You can easily wait a year or so and get the superior PC version, likely at better cost.Yeah I'm just not convinced it'll ever go away completely. PORT BLOODBORNE SONY AND REMASTER IT COME ON. DO IT COWARDS.
Spider-Man 2 is gonna be a big one so PS5 is looking good this year. Halo Infinite had potential but 343 couldn’t follow through despite great combat. The best thing about consoles is the price point and a lot of AAA PC ports are fucking horrible. Xbox Series X is my favorite console and I like it just a little bit better than my PS5, but Sony is winning the exclusives. TLOU 2 was awful and undersold compared to expectations even if it was profitable. I think insomniac is Sony’s best studio right now. Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima was my favorite Sony game last gen. Both new god of war games have good combat but a pretentious movie game story with horrendous pacing. The interesting point to all that is there currently is no point to getting either a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X outside of personal preference; PC is the superior option. The hype for Sony's first party titles and "exclusives," while still there, also doesn't seem what it was anymore. Everyone crapped on The Last of Us Part II hard, God of War: Ragnarok seems to have been received well but not with the fanfare other past first party titles have been (and several people here on TYM expressed disappointment in it), and Forespoken is a broken mess that no one cares for and many people didn't bother with in favour of High Fi Rush, and Xbox stealth drop smaller game. Different times for gaming today than the end of last gen.
Both Sony and Microsoft have very different business models. Sony's the console leader and still pushing an older business model. They need to sell consoles and games for PlayStation to profit. Microsoft began switching years ago and their big thing is Game Pass subscriptions. They're not dependent on console sales at all, and if you're playing their games on your mobile or direct to your smart TV through Game Pass, they're profiting. Sony starting bringing their titles to PC because they realized their eggs-in-one-basket strategy isn't long term viable anymore.
It'll be very interesting to see how things go as this generation go on.
My prediction, by it's end and with the successful acquistion of Activision-Blizzard, I think Microsoft with tie back up with Sony or even surpass them entering the 10th gen in terms of overall brand profit. We'll see if my prediction is correct or not over the next several years.
Imo Ragnarok was better than the first one, the story was amazing and it was such a fun experience. I plat'ed it. Horizon Forbidden West is severely underrated and TLOU2, even if it was divisive, was an amazing game regardless of the shit ending Ellie got. I like those games enough to get a console just to play them if they never get ported. I don't mind waiting cause to me there's not any game I NEED day 1, except MK games. But not all Sony exclusives have been ported, so far only Spider-Man and the first Horizon. The interesting point to all that is there currently is no point to getting either a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X outside of personal preference; PC is the superior option. To each their own. Marvel's Spider-Man is the single most disappointing game I've played on any platform in several years. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will also come to PC, and will look and perform better there, so...Spider-Man 2 is gonna be a big one so PS5 is looking good this year
Keep in mind the Campaign is absolutely excellent and as I recall, you enjoyed it even more than I did. That's the Single Player portion of the game and costs the same as any Sony first party title. The Multiplayer, which I've heard is disappointing, is f2p and inspite of it's criticism, people are still playing it.Halo Infinite had potential but 343 couldn’t follow through despite great combat.
Depends on the port.... and a lot of AAA PC ports are fucking horrible.
Timed exclusives, since they come to PC now. And keep in mind, both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series have had poor exclusives this gen since most of their first party titles are cross gen. Again, I expect that'll change this year.... but Sony is winning the exclusives.
I've heard fantastic things about Ghost of Tsushima.Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima was my favorite Sony game last gen. Both new god of war games have good combat but a pretentious movie game story with horrendous pacing.
I've heard Horizon as a whole is heavily underrated, even Digital Foundry commented on this.Horizon Forbidden West is severely underrated...
Same, Mortal Kombat is my only day 1 franchise right now.there's not any game I NEED day 1, except MK games
Actually no, a lot more have been. The full lost of Sony first party titles on PC that I'm aware of in no particular order are:But not all Sony exclusives have been ported, so far only Spider-Man and the first Horizon.
You're PC's great!But oh well, don't matter. I got my PC.
I agree to most of these points. I did love Infinite’s campaign aside from level design. It’s my second favorite combat in the whole series for single player, I just wish it had more varied level designs and content overall. Definitely disagree on Spider-Man though, I loved it minus the movie game bullshit Sony loves. I think insomniac does pretty good ports but I’m not sure. I hope you guys get Ghost of Tsushima, the combat is great on hard. God of War’s replay value definitely gets hit by the awful 45 minute walking segments. There is a segment in the new game where I shit you not, you spend over an hour collecting fruit on an animal slower than a turtle. I like stories in games but good god the developers are just smelling their own farts at that point and the people who like that shit just want an interactive movie. When you’re actually in combat on a higher difficulty and understand the mechanics, it’s very fun though. I’ll have to wait a good couple years before replaying it, the fake deep story is exhausting, it’s like a shitty marvel movie in the new one, very disappointing compared to 2018. I bet GOW 5 played it too safe because TLOU 2 didn’t, but neither told a good story that make sense based on the established characters. To each their own. I've heard fantastic things about Ghost of Tsushima.
I've heard the modern God of War titles have good gameplay (not great), and zippo replay value. To each their own again, I guess.
I've heard Horizon as a whole is heavily underrated, even Digital Foundry commented on this.
Same, Mortal Kombat is my only day 1 franchise right now.
Actually no, a lot more have been. The full lost of Sony first party titles on PC that I'm aware of in no particular order are:
There might be more.
- Marvel's Spider-Man: Remastered
- Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Horizon: Forbidden West
- God of War (2018)
- Death Stranding
- Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (Which is Uncharted 4 and _Uncharted: The Lost Legacy)
- Returnal
- Sackboy: A Big Adventure
- Days Gone
- Predator: Hunting Grounds
- The Last of Us Part 1 (releases Mar. 28th)
You're PC's great!
I was hoping we'd see a single player expansion set, and while that's still possible, I'm not holding my breath.I just wish it had more varied level designs and content overall.
For Marvel's Spider-Man, I loved it at first and my initial impressions were fantastic. Web slinging felt amazing! After a few hours and the novelty of that wore off, the game began to show it's many, many flaws. There's no actual character development and the game relies on you knowing who the characters already are. The story is okay, but very predictable. The scenes meant to mix in Peter's personal life, a big part of the game's marketing, feel rushed and actually harm pacing, the combat is bland, repetitive, and no where near as intuitive as the amazing Free Flow combat from Batman: Arkham, the sequences you plays as Miles and MJ are frustrating trial and error pieces, the game is filled with so much bloat and filler missions, and overall it ultimately has not been engaging and is a game that's a chore to play.Definitely disagree on Spider-Man though, I loved it minus the movie game bullshit Sony loves.
As someone who owns a red eared slider that's older than you, I can assure you turtles are actual fast .... on an animal slower than a turtle.
How do you make polls? I do not think it is activated for normal users.. I can not work it out anyway,.This should’ve been a Poll.
It should be, it's just not that visible. Don't know if the option is there after you create a thread though. I can try to edit it if you want. How do you make polls? I do not think it is activated for normal users.. I can not work it out anyway,.
I'm also trying to figure out if there will be cross platform on PC, but I think things will be like on MK11 this time too, but we're waiting for official confirmation. If PC has Kross play then PC. If not, then PS5
