We all know that after the dust settled and the stans shut the fuck up that PC is the superior platform for MK11. This is not up for debate.... input lag is measurably lower on PC and online play is better. Period. This isn't an argument, it has been measured and confirmed by pros and other high ranking community members that make playing these games their profession. It is a fact. The best MK11 player experience is on PC.

The thing is PC has other issues. For starters, they are expensive compared to a console. A modern GFX card can cost 3 times that of a PS5, and that is just the GFX card. So it is very tempting to get a mid-range PC of some sort or make other cut backs to lower that price.. now you are in "settings hell" where the performance is just not what you expected. With a PS5 or an Xbox, you put in the disk and press play. Your're done. With PC, unless you have a top system using approved parts, it can be a nightmare to keep those frame rates. Also, PC has so far always been a port. They get patches slower, dlc slower, stuff like that and often have rough launches due to the nearly infinate hardware that the game will encounter in the wild.

But a PC also has some bonuses. Internet is free and faster. You can tab out easily to do other things while waiting for match making. It is a bazillion times easier to stream. There are so many input choices, and that 400 buck Arcade Layout Joystick you got 10 years ago will still jsyt plug in and work. No need to get new gear all the time..... and lets not forget that in MK11's case (as SFV btw) there is less input lag. Also theree is faster online responsiveness as the gams are not getting pushed through those "game networks" that Sony and M$ force you to use on console.

Then again.... the event scene is deeply ingrained with consoles and Ps particularly. While most online events are now on PC for mk11 and SFv you most likely will be having to find a console compatible input device and have to adjust to the console frame rates and stuff if you want to play at the big majors. Also, the consoles traditionally have a larger player base. Maybe not so much of an issue as I would be SHOCKED if mk12 is not crossmatching from xbox to pc.. and there is a chance it will also cross-match to PS5.

So... what will you use for MK12 and why?

: PS5 :

I'm going to get it on PS5. I have been a PC gamer for most of my life and I am just done with PC. I still use it a lot of strategy games, but when the gpu shortage and then the price gouging and all that happened I just thought.. you know.. this generation.. I'm going to get a PS5. This is my 1st console since the DreamCast. I am really enjoying it. Sure there are compromises you have to make, but they are minimal. As a PC player for deaceds.. just getting a game on a disk, putting it in the box and pressing play is such a great user experience. Also for the price for me to get a new GPU for the current gen you can literally buy 3 ps5s. I will prob get it on PC when the final edition is out... but for now I am committed to Ps5.

.... they mostly come at night. Mostly.
For both PS5 and PC, but with more focus on the PS5 , because the player base is way big there and you find majority of the best players there, so, PS5 is better if you intend to train and play to be a better game player for MK12, yeah ! :p

I have an RX 6750 XT that I got 5 months ago for $659 CAD (PS5: $729.96, XSX: $718.85) & it's been pretty amazing (Build). There's not many games where getting a top tier GPU would matter at the moment that I know of outside of Cyberpunk 2077 (Goes to amazing to epic). There's no reason to upgrade to GDDR6 stuff unless you use your PC for simulation gaming or professional work, the GDDR5 stuff like my current build is just fine as most players on Steam don't even have an RTX 3050 or a 6500 XT, the top 5 GPUs used on Steam are:

  1. GTX 1650
  2. GTX 1060
  3. RTX 3060 Laptop GPU
  4. GTX 1050 Ti
  5. RTX 3060 Ti
(Source)

There's so many developers that say that they recommend an RTX 3070 or RX 6700 (Ex: Square Enix) it's because they're fucking idiots who didn't optimize their games. Even for massive epics like Hogwarts Legacy recommends a 1080 Ti or an RX 5700 XT & the same with Street Fighter 6. Also if I remember correctly, I think I read that that the closest desktop GPU to the PS5 is a RTX 2080 Super.

PC. Don't have any current gen consoles, don't really see a reasons these days since i do have a decent PC. Made sense when I couldn't afford one, but now that I can it's nice to have my entire library on one system, and to have access to it on multiple machines.

Not PS5 is about all I'm sure about.

I usually do PC, but I have 2 Xboxes and tend to have multiple copies of things from different platforms. Most likely scenario is both with PC first, and Xbox when discounts happen. Flip it if the PC version has a rough start.

I'm going to assume we have cross play so it will literally probably be whatever console I have turned on at the time I'm ready to buy it.

Really hoping its current gen only and not held back by the PS4/XBOne.

Getting it for the PS5.

PC. Have a PS4, not sure will be releasing on it. Also I now refuse to pay for PS Plus. If I bought the console, the game and my internet, I think it'a robbery to lock massive portions of games which you've already paid for behind a further monthly subscription pay wall. All of a sudden I'll be paying £60 a year or whatever just to play the game I've already paid for... anyway rant over. PC has seemed to have issues at launch apparently, not that I've experienced it, so hoping it will be better tbis time around.

The PC port to every NRS game has been bad sadly but it's not just an NRS but an SNK issue too (Samurai Shodown is a mess).

There's even a popular meme about it.

Actually input lag is only an issue on the PlayStation version of Mortal Kombat 11. Both PC and Xbox play much better. For last generation consoles, the Xbox One X version of the game was the best version of said game.

So it is very tempting to get a mid-range PC of some sort or make other cut backs to lower that price.. now you are in "settings hell" where the performance is just not what you expected.
I also go mid-range for my gaming PC's and I've never been in settings hell at all. With an nVidia graphics card you have access to GeForce Experience, which does an excellent job at optimizing game's settings for you. At worst, it provides a great starting point while you do some tweaks with the game's benchmark.

Keep in mind that current generation consoles are already well behind the times hardware-wise. A PlayStation 5's GPU is roughly the equivalent of an RTX 2070 Super, an Xbox Series X is around an RTX 2080 (both according to Digital Foundry), and an Xbox Series S is roughly a supped up GeForce GTX 1060 Ti.

So... what will you use for MK12 and why?
Assuming it's current generation only, I'd have to go with the Xbox Series version, as my PC's a "last gen" PC with a very old processor. I have the cash set aside to get a new system, but don't want to until it's really needed.

The pro of getting the console version is my girlfriend can watch/play as she loves MK. The bad news is I don't (and won't) subscribe to multiplayer services, so any console version for me is single player and local multi only.

The PC port to every NRS game has been bad sadly...
That's not true at all. Mortal Kombat XL was excellent thanks to WB Games contracting QLOC to port the later version of that game. Mortal Kombat 11 and it's expansions, also ported by QLOC, was excellent as well.

initially they have had their issues, but PC MK11 is generally pretty solid at this point; with some considering it the best version. Don't recall having any KOF15 issues even on day one. Didn't stick around long and matchmaking has never worked apparently, but not sure that that was a platform specific issue.

I have copies of all kinds of games on all the platforms, and PC doesn't tend to give me any more problems than playing elsewhere at this point in the game. Much better off than we were a few years back. Some guy is always going to try and do 4K ultra and be ok with having 50% of his frames skipped, but with cross play, you are probably going to have to fight him anyway

Eh. PC MK11 went pretty damn smoothly. There's even an argument to be made that it was the "best" version of the game solely based on people making an unlocker for customizables.

Anyway, PC for me as usual. Haven't owned an Xbox since the 360 and I don't really do PS.

Getting it on the PS5, because they might not have PC crossplay and all my friends are also getting in on a PS5. There's a lot of reasons but Playstation has always been the tourney standard and if I go to offline events I'd rather feel comfortable with what I actually use at home. And PC ports are always hit or miss, I'd rather not bank on that.

Really hope there's PC crossplay tho, had fun playing some people on here who play on PC.

To start, PS5. As I imagine that's where the most players will be. Won't have to worry about whether crossplay works or not if I'm the only one of my friends on another platform. Everyone I played regularly in MK11 will most likely be getting it on playstation again.

If I decide to play in any online tournaments or go offline, being familiar with a setup style it is a big help (I used to be an xbox guy back in mk9 and every time I went offline I'd have to borrow someone's playstation controller and I would always have a shit ton of input errors due to lack of familiarity).

Plus, as OP mentioned, the PC versions, while often better... are still just a port. I like having all the things released, right when they're released. Don't wanna wait on patches, wait on dlc, etc etc
