So, I've been scared of scary movies ever since I was a kid. I remember watching The Grudge in theaters a few years ago and had my eyes closed for 3/4 of the movie, and I've usually been too scared to watch those kinds of movies since then. But this weekend, I decided to get some recommendations from friends and watched a few newer horror movies. I watched Insidious, The Crazies, REC, and The Last Exorcism. They were all actually pretty good, but none of them legitimately scared me.

Can anyone give me a few horror movies that will really scare me? I've seen all the classics, I've seen some more recent big ones like the Paranormal Activity series, but I want something more.

I think youre into asian horros, The grudge is what got me scared for the most part of my childhood, but thats was at least 7 years ago, lol. when I checked it out a while ago everything looked so fake about the movie. but I think oure into asian horromovies. I have a good recommendation for you. check out one missed call. you have both american and japanese versions. the american was pretty recent like from 2008, but I didnt watch that one. but I think the japanese version,which I did watch will give you some chills.

u should definitely check the japanese version out since the american one got a bad review

I saw Jaws when I was around that age as well. We rented it from the video store. I was so damn scared of that movie. What made it worse is that my room was painted blue, and I was terrified to sleep in my room because the blue made me think of water.

Oh! lol, RZ's Halloween definitely had it's moments, but I thought the back story didn't go deep enough and therefore kinda pointless, except for the scenes with Malcolm McDowell, I actually liked him better than Donald Pleasence, also some of the kills had me raising an eyebrow. Decent remake but ain't no Devil's Rejects.

Scariest movie ever is Day of the Dead (1985). Watch it for the first time alone in the dark late at night. You will freak out.

Human Centipede, Halloween (Zombie), Dawn Of The Dead, Ringu, all winners.

For the sake of your sanity, don't watch any of the other Ringu sequels.
Painfully odd. That is all I can say. Not scary to me, just confusing as all hell.

Any of you guys ever see "Blindness?"
THAT was a fucked up movie.
Not necessarily horror, but definitely frightening.

A lot of movies creep me out but flat out "scare" is another thing all together, only movie that ever bothered me in that sense was The Exorcist original.

Big movies I'm a fan of are Halloween, Child's Play(can't wait for the remake)

The Last Exorcism I thought was pretty creepy and scary.


One movie I keep hearing people got really scared from was Insideous, but haven't seen it yet.

For the dude who mentioned Dead Silence, it definitely had it's moments first time you watch it lol.

I saw Insidious recently and thought it was pretty good too. Honestly, when I first saw Paranormal Activity I was a bit scared. Check out John Carpenter's In The Mouth of Madness. It's a bit scary but more of a mind-fuck / suspense movie.

John Carpenter is epic! I agree, Paranormal the first one, ending especially kind of shocked me with the thumping is definitely creepy. you're like wtf is going on? lol.

Oh yeah one other movie I thought was pretty shocking and had some scary moments was A Haunting in Connecticut. Thirteen Ghosts Remake had some "jump in your seat moments"

Don't know about anyone else but Zombie films now are so old and played out, it's not even remotely scary anymore between something of the Dead movies, RE movies and The Walking Dead. Not saying they're not good, but just not scary anymore since the original Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead etc. The Dawn of the Dead that came out few years ago was pretty good, but now too many zombie movies...imo
