Its time for a fully open world MK game

The MK world definitely has the potential, but NRS won’t be able to make a satisfying open-world game. They don’t have the experience. It will be The Krypt 2.0, which is fine for a mini game, but is light years away from something like God of War.
I disagree. They made Shaolin Monks, which was awesome and konquest in both Deception and Armageddon. They’ve already proven they can make incredible looking games visually and by moving the resources they used for story mode and put it into making the realms come to life, they can make a great open world game. They have said many time, they wanna try making other games besides fighting. People having been dying for a Shaolin Monks sequel and they could do way better with something like this

No. Midway made them which is much different than the current NRS of today. Also Shaolin Monks is 16 years old & Armageddon is 15 years old so the people who developed the Konquest mode or Shaolin Monks probably aren’t with NRS anymore or were never part of NRS to begin with when it was established in 2010. There’s not many other developers who are part of of WBIE who could even help NRS to make such a game either.

Your best hope is just a remaster of the 3D era games or Shaolin Monks (which they have teased) or if NRS gets sold to a developer who have such expertise who would have such interest in such a thing like EA (BioWare) or Microsoft (Bethesda & Obsidian).

the work that was done on those games was from a different era: not only of the MK team, but also of game development in general.
Very little of what those teams did with those MK games would be passable today.
You may love them, and they were certainly fun for what they were, but let’s be real here…

I would settle for side content like MK9's towers but more side-story focused. Flesh out little things for those who want to do it. I like Deception and Armageddon more for how vast and diverse they made the MK world feel, while all being theme appropriate, rather than their 3D gameplay or exploration. Where else do you get to hear an outworld commoner or someone else unimportant give their opinion on the realms lol.

No reason that NRS couldn't pull off a dope game like some kind of MK action game.

I really want them to try that MMO-like game Boon talked about, where there was a persistent world where you could be attacked or get your stuff stolen when you weren't playing

And that was the most basic attempt at the genre.
I missed out on Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, which I regret as I've heard generally very good things about it.

Of the three action/adventure games, the only one I played was Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, and that was ... not so good.

IMO, Shaolin Monks is only really notable for the personality it gave the characters. As a game, it’s nothing special.

Probably not a popular opinion here... but I dare say the double whammy of Mythologies and then Special Forces even gave it some increased levels of adoration as being the first spin-off that wasn't actually awful. Although it was still a legitimately good game for its style, when compared to those I think it does enjoy something of an increased "Force Awakens" effect.

I'm not disputing that it was a fun game with some delightful murder mechanics for its time and a wonderful visit around MK2's world, but I totally agree that at the end of the day it was still just a pretty standard 3D platform beat 'em up; it was nothing ground-breaking in terms of gameplay or visuals and was rather dull as a solo player if you didn't have anyone to play along with at your side. Indeed I don't believe I ever completed it because I just kind of lost enthusiasm to keep playing through.

Majority of people who worked on those games still work with Boon lol. They have said MANY times, they wanna do other genres. Adventure games would be perfect for them
