Scary Movies

Come On Die Young
So, I've been scared of scary movies ever since I was a kid. I remember watching The Grudge in theaters a few years ago and had my eyes closed for 3/4 of the movie, and I've usually been too scared to watch those kinds of movies since then. But this weekend, I decided to get some recommendations from friends and watched a few newer horror movies. I watched Insidious, The Crazies, REC, and The Last Exorcism. They were all actually pretty good, but none of them legitimately scared me.

Can anyone give me a few horror movies that will really scare me? I've seen all the classics, I've seen some more recent big ones like the Paranormal Activity series, but I want something more.

Being a huge horror buff myself, I would recommend the following:

Pitch Black
Shutter Island(will mindfuck you as well)
Dawn of the dead
Day of the dead
Night of the Living Dead
Daybreakers
Alien
Predator
The Thing(original)
Daybreakers
Dead Snow(Dod Sno)
Trick r Treat
Jaws
From Dusk Till Dawn

Edit: Almost forgot, The Host is scary as fuuuu. Highly recommend that one.

I WILL EAT THIS GAME
Dude, the ring scared the shit outta me when it first came out.
HOLY SHIT. I thought I was the only one...

I still can't sit in a quiet room with a blank TV comfortably. To this day.
Went to see it in an almost empty giant theatre...bad idea.
That fucking movie, man...

"Game... Blouses."
Gotta see Trick 'r Treat. That's an excellent scary movie.

Also, one of my personal favorites is Midnight Meat Train, however, that isn't particularly scary.

Go to hell.
I've made it no secret I find Alien, Aliens, and Predator to be an exceptional collection of movies.

Alien is the only core horror movie of the three though, but it scared me pretty bad when I was 12. Shocked me into never finding another movie scary, actually, lol. Part of the reason I love it.

Get on that hook
I'm going to be honest, I am a big pussy to horror movies but I take the fear like a man.

With that said: I haven't watched a whole lot of the horror genre.

Freddy v Jason (I take this more as an action movie.Very cool)
White Noise (I watched this alone at like 2am when I was like 7)
Dawn of the Dead (One of the few scary zombie movies)
Resident Evil 1(Probably the only RE movie I watched because the movies are a disgrace to the games)
28 days later(The theme is so bad ass)
Esther?(Is this the title? The one with the 30 year old kid serial killer)

I can't remember any more or probably these are the only ones that I have watched.

The only morality in a cruel world is chance.
Hellraiser 1 and 2
Stephen Kings IT
Childs Play
The Puppet Master
Demonic Toys
Children of the Corn

Okay I gotta ask: why does everyone say the first Evil Dead is humorous? It's not humorous. The second one is, the first one is way more serious.

I've been desensitised to horror movies ever since I watched night of the living dead on my own at 7... HOWEVER, if you want to watch a film that is 100% horrific, watch 'A Serbian Film'.

If you have the balls to do it record yourself while you're watching it.

I've seen it a few times now, and it doesnt get any easier any time.

I think if you found the Grudge scary, you should check out The Ring. That movie creeped me out for days after I saw it.

I think "The Ring" can sum it all up, only if and only if.... You watch it at 12am then go to sleep with a monitor in your bedroom.

Its hard to be legitamatly scary these days cuz so much has been done imo. Theres alot for u tho if you get scared easy, these are some of my favorites:

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original 1970s version. low budget looking films are scariest for me)
Deranged (1974?)
Silence of the Lambs (epic thriller)
The Grudge 2
Ed Gein
The Exorcist
Final Destinations (gory)
Nightmare on Elm Street
Hannibal
Drag Me To Hell (its just fun lol)

I just looked up that movie and I think I'll pass. Necrophilia and child rape, no thanks.

I actually watched A Serbian Film, and I really didn't think much of it. It's just offensive for the sake of being offensive, and not in a tongue-in-cheek way. Besides all that, the director says the movie has political undertones, which is utter hogwash. The movie is just garbage and not worth watching.

Come On Die Young
I don't see how gore scares people. I've seen A Serbian Film, Hostel (1 and 2), the Saw series, The Human Centipede (1 and 2), Men Behind The Sun, and others that I can't remember right now. It's entertaining, but that's it. That being said, the one movie that falls into that category I've REALLY been wanting to see is Martyrs. Maybe I'm just too desensitized, I've visited Documenting Reality and sites like that on a few occasions...... and 4chan.
