Really good mate there was only really HowtoRead, Helter, Tamanapants and couple of guys I recognised from SvB. It sounds like there will be a few more next week.

The room is fairly small which isn't helped by having massive chairs lol. Once the MVC3 guys came in it was a bit of a squeeze to be honest. Its cool we can take it over next week. ;)

My only suggestions would be:
Make sure you bring a 360 controller or converter. A few guys turned up with PS3 sticks which obviously didn't work.

Bring a copy of the game if you can. I think we only had one copy but Tanamapants and I both brought ours. I'm sure the venue has multiple copies but may be worth bring some anyway just in case.

Looking forward to next week anyway. :)

So stoked for next week. Again, if you can't get a late train or whatever I've got a floor and can put 1 or 2 up for the night, I live about 20 mins from the venue. I'm gonna get blown the fuck up without my lag to protect me :)

Was there Thursday. Enjoyed playing the game offline again and got plenty of Kitana match up practice!

Hats off to Helter for organising it. Sorry guys but I have some feedback however.

- Should really try to move this away from UMVC3 night. like my initial experience of playing mk9 offline it was a bit of side show to marvel. Aside from maybe 4 people anyone who touched the game was there for marvel first!

- 4 people really playing intently week one is not a great start! People want offline and a scene but dont show...if it continues dont be surprised if it dies a death quickly.

- I played online last night for the first time in 6 months...forgot how uttery terrible online is - general level and connection stability. Itd not the way this game should be played.

I will be down again this week and next, but if it does not pick up I'm going to go all out on SCV. Even if the UK does not go mad on the game the French will! Sorry to lay it out like this, but I simply wont put time into a game I cant play people in regularly. I appreviate not everyone can get down every week, but week one should have had a stronger showing imo.

I am by no means a great player but I will endeavour to get up there at some point.

Tama is right. The EU scene can complain about the offline scene all they want, but if we dont make an effort, we have no reason to justify not having one, as at least Helter is trying!

I'm beginning to think that Japan and America simply care about games more than us guys do..

no im gonna stop you there, this game DOES have players, but we arent all fortunate enough to be 20 minutes away from london. travel is expensive for anyone having to come great distances, and no one should be expected to fork out 40 quid on a train once a week, this coming week is when everyone has already booked a train for, so itll have the showing, the reason not many showed up was because it was very short notice for anyone coming in more than an hour away.

Im not trying to piss on the scene Mustard, as I live in Sussex and yes, a train fare for me return is going to be about 30 quid, hence why doing this once a week for myself wont be possible.

Im just reflecting on how many people dropped out of the WGC. I know money is an issue, especially in these economic times, but I dont know how the yanks are doing it. Do their tournies have bigger cash prizes, is fuel and public transport cheaper, because I dont know how their scene is more vibrant than ours.

i was more referring to tamana, i know nobodies dissing on the scene but i just think its really quite silly to expext EVERY player to turn up week one, especially when, like you said yourself, it costs everyone not london local about 30 quid to get there, hence why its important to order trains in advance.

and yeah the amount who backed out of WGC is frustrating, but it cant be helped.

Mustard, ever thought about being a TEO for the UK?

Have an entry fee, with a winner takes all pot? Some local tournie in Venezuela will send the winner to EVO this year, which I think is pretty sweet. Not saying YOU should dish out prizes like that, but I reckon that the Ven scene cant be that much bigger or smaller than the UK one.

im in no position to do that, im not local to london and thats really where an event like that would have to be, ive tried multiple times to find a possible venue here but theres nothing of use.

for now we need to concentrate on having a healthy regular offline scene, tournies with big prizes arent as important just yet.

i dont mean to come across as rude flagg, but i dont see why you're bringing up people dripping out of WGC, im yet to see you at any offline event in london just yet, and we've had quite a few.

If the same people return from the first week in the 2nd week we should have 9-10 people right?

We got the twins, myself, smokey and temjiin coming down next week. And Omega maybe?

Some good competition there.

I would go next week but I'm not 18. It's a shame because next week sounds pretty fuckin' hype.

Also Tam, this was announced 5 days before the first gathering, you cant expect everyone to go out of there way to pay high prices and change plans. Give it time, these things have to grow.

i had to book the afternoon of work to come down next week, which i couldnt do at such short notice to be down this week, or i probably would have tried :D

This will pick up, if we can show the marvel lot how we roll then perhaps a few heads may turn :D

Lets stay positive guys, it was short notice yes but still a few showed. Next week sounds more promising.

There are plenty of people who say that want an offline scene and how bad playing online is, but the fact is, if we want an offline scene, we have to create it ourselves which involves effort, time and money. For now, lets forget about streaming, about small tournaments etc. and concentrate on getting people together for regular practice. If the people keep turning up, it will progress into something more, if not it will die very quickly.

I live close to enough to London to be involved in helping if needed, but without YOU guys turning up, it won't mean a thing.

Less talk, more action. See you all there guys. :)

I didn't go to the first week because it was too short notice, end of story.

I WILL be there this thursday, and as many as i can go to after that. Alongside many others, that's all that matters. It's not up to me if you keep playing or not tamanapants, the game was still being played when you dropped it.
