His forceballs whiff, his F3 is a slow high in terms of priority, very susceptible to D1 D4 spamming, hitbox attached to his footsies, no oki, throw leaves opponent full screen, no KB on SJ or the new variation, no hit confirm mid, risky bad inconsistent anti airs and much much more.

Just tossing out a list is stupid. I can say one little sentence, but each one would require more than a paragraph for better understanding. I think this is why you're getting so much push back here. You don't understand that it's not as simple as "Oh he has plus frames for days!" or "Check out that unbreakable damage". Everything is situational and guys like me who have played thousands of matches with Cage understand that. But here's your god damn list.

• Highs that whiff on low blocking opponents
• Lack of significant KBs
• Weak stagger game in a meta that has the top tiers staggering all day
• No hit confirmable mids

And I'll follow that up with what keeps him out of low tier:

• range on good normals
• plus frames that allow for mind games
• unbreakable damage
• Above average damage
• ability to convert
• restands

Throw means he can zone

A high shouldn't whiff on a lock blocking opponent. NRS calls a bug a feature. We aren't just talking about the forceballs here...

No Oki in a game where the best characters have Oki that results in a mid/throw guess. Johnny has no mid/throw oki game. It's not that he needs it, we're explaining how it keeps him from being top tier.

He has a great fireball...thats for sure. I use the shit out of it after I knock someone down, but it's not a proper zoning tool against half the cast.

Look at the top tier. KBs for fucking days. I dont know how else to spell that one out for you.

He doesn't necessarily need a hitconfirmable mid. But literally all the top tiers have one. If I had one, my opponents wouldn' d3/4 my feet with reckless abandon. There's no way to put fear into them.




I mean how do you look at the top tier in this meta, and think Cage belongs there?
