Looking for feedback to improve for a tourney!

As some of you know, the Valkyries league start soon and I want to specifically pinpoint the biggest issues I have (that I may not see), so I can work on them during that time. Issues that can be game-changing. I really want to do well in this league so any tips are welcome.

Here are the most recent matches I had yesterday in the KL to help y'all if you've never played against me:


I play Cassie, but I'm sure everyone knows this. :p

Here's the Smashgg Link for the entrants. If I have to go against Romanova, that may be my hardest match since it'll be a mirror.

Just watched the first match, here are some small things:
  • never let Sonya get away with a blocked d3 into b1, it‘s you‘re turn so d1 her until she starts respecting you
  • don‘t use b13 as a point blank mixup but more of a footsie tool
  • try to hitconfirm f41
-MORE F4 STAGGERS!

that‘s it, otherwise a pretty good fight.

  • Okay, I'll remember that!
  • Do you use F34 as a mixup? I noticed it work for me I started doing it in later matches.
  • I need to get better at doing it for sure. The 2 weeks I stopped playing her to play Kano kinda messed me up.

Haven‘t played her in a while but I rarely used f34 though you can actually hitconfirm it into low guns on hit and glow kick on block so it‘s probably better than b13 mixup wise.

It looks solid. You suffer the same issue as I do!

I get clipped by b12 of Sonya so fucking much. I eat those fuckers like it's poptarts
You should either play a long set with a Sonya to really get that muscle memory burned into your neural network. Might also be a good idea against Searing Rage as he can do f32 which is mid into overhead and teleport dat ass

IF you block Sonya's overhead, I would assume Cassie's punish should be 111 instead of b2.

I'd need to see more, but those matches looked pretty solid.

Maybe make sure you do the low gunshot under the rings so that you don't take the chip/trade

Correct. 111 starts with 7 frames. Both B12 and B123 from Sonya are -9 frames. The tricky part is if they go B14 into rings of course, but the safer punish is 111.

edit: By the way, B2 is 11 frames for Cassie.

yeah, I have no idea why I went for B2 there, I usually try to punish with 111. Thanks for the reminded! :D

I've been utilizing F34 more often lately. It seems to be working. Not sure if its because opponents don't lab for it, or if they just don't expect Cassie to use her low starter.

Also agree with the part about her B13, and I say this as someone with much experience in getting punished for using that move too close. :oops:

My summer classes officially end tomorrow so let's play, I also play Cassie so I can prob see what you don't do and where you do, do.

Ok, so first match:
-You should space out your buttons so they whiff less, against Sonya (especially this below avg one) you can get away with it, but if you come to fight a potato geras or Kabal it's going to be a problem.
-Punish with 112, I see no reason to punish with anything else unless it has pushback.
-Hitconfirms could be better, and if you don't have meter you shouldn't be going into low gunshot.
-Use the threat of the low gunshot to move around more instead of just standing there in the same spot shooting.

I'm kinda guilty of some of the things I mentioned tbh.
