Ranked Mode Ideas for Season 2

Ranked Mode Idea 1:
Maybe you all can make a Ranked mode that pairs you with a specific character you want to play. This will help online players get MU XP and make it so every match isn't vs the same 5 characters.

Im thinking it could be a lock in system where you select your character before matchmaking and then select your opponent character you want to play against. This will also eliminate counterpicking. Just an idea?

Idea 2:
Make a Ranked Mode or Kasual that is based on the character you main where you get rewards and stats based off your performance with that specific character. Like above you lock into your character before matchmaking.

Been said before but on all ranked modes I think we should have the option to search for Wired connections or decline WiFi players since they are unstable. Make the cutoff for declining matches in Ranked modes 100ms instead of 150ms ping. I can't count how many WiFi matches I've been matched with that where 80ms to 149ms only to become 200+ in round 1. This should fix most of the problems online.

Side Note:
Great Job with the Netcode and Game. Love MK11 just it becomes unfun when I'm forced to play underwater in ranked.

-Wifi filters. Allow to be matched to wired only.
-Do NOT show the opponents record pre-match. Only show the connection. Make declining an option for any match. That way, you can accept or decline based on the connection only. This could be an acceptable alternative if wifi filters are somehow not possible, but should be implemented either way.
-Do NOT show who the opponent is picking until the match loading screen.

-Individual ranking system per character. My Cetrion/Cassie/Kabal are on different levels. But I'm hesitant to use Kabal in the League. I would like to rank them up individually to have "God Cetrion, Demi-God Cassie, GrandMaster Kabal".
-Character rewards per character used. As in, you begin unlocking items prioritized to the character you are playing. It's absurd and regressive to have 10 million coins and I still can't buy the ONE Cassie outfit that I like.
-Address the plug pullers. Add a "disconnection percentage" that shows next to the person's connection during matchmaking. That way, if I see someone with an "18% disconnect", and mine is "2%" (due to someone pulling on me one out of fifty games so to say, not on them), then we can decline that person.

One of my BIGGEST gripe with this game is not the mechanics, it's actually with the gear system. I hated it in IJ2 and I still hate it now. IF you make drops random, then allow us to buy certain gear we want with in-game currency. If not, then they should drop based on who we play. Chose one, you can't take away our choice promote the game to have 'player choice and customization' when in fact it's hidden behind boring and annoying grinding as well as being randomized and move customization is locked behind tournament variations, yet AGAIN.

I want to unlock gear and skins for my main, I could care less about spending 500k koins in the Krypt to get stuff for a character I'll never play. It limits our options, makes it a pain to get and it doesn't give you the need to play a certain character. All really bad options, imo, especially when your game is supposed to be centered around customization.

Mainstream media will cry about being able to buy in-game items with in-game currency, but we still want that. SFV does it, RS6 does it, and they're games that do extremely well.

great ideia indeed .... a filter where you pick up and choose only the character you would like to play against, would be so nice and amazing stuff in Kombat League ..... the option to decline WiFi is a "must" , cannot undertand until now why NRS does not put this as default feature.

besides, W/L ratio should be visible for you only and nobody else, this would help so much in this mode ...

Speaking of connections why can't I refuse to accept the match if I see someone with a high ping or who using wifi? I hate being forced to play against wifi scorpions. One of the things I really hate about KL.

Re: Gear system, I'd like to use time crystals or my koins to buy the things I want instead of having to wait almost week to get the thing I want from the featured store. I've got over a million koins and 2 time crystals collecting dust.

I really hope nrs will listen to our feedback and address them in the next season/update.

Even if they dont do that for KL, a character specific rank mode would be awesome. No reason why they cant coexist.

KL definitely needs at least to implement character select before matchmaking and remove matchmaking with 1-2 ranks lower than you (except rank up matches).
 
One thing that should really be there is the option to search for a game in training mode. I agree with the connection filters, but implementing new modes or too many filters can really shread the playerbase. The grinding needs to be adressed.

Oh and introduce a choice reward system or a KL currency reward system. How it is now its totally unfair, arbitrary and promotes people pulling the plug even more.
 
Not a fan of losing points after 48 hours or whatever it was. Had a vacation with the wife and kiddos over the 4th and couldn't play for 5 days or so and lost a bunch of.... "extremely hard earned bottom seven Johnny Cage for the love of God 16 bit fix these whiffing issues"....points.

Throw in a more strict wifi filter and KL is actually pretty god like.

Rank system should definitely be built around characters and not profiles.
Before we play in Ranked we should definitely pick our character
our W/L Ratio shouldn't be visible to anyone else but our own.
Connection filters: we should be alowed if we want to match with wifi only, cable only or all
Ninja Edit: we need more rank titles

SO far this is what i think, otherwise there isn't really much of a point between Ranked and Skumbag League outside of getting skins locked behind it

These two right here, alongside the ability to be in training while waiting in queue, are what I want from KL. Make it focused on the player's ability as a character, not on their ability to counterpick. While intentional counterpicking isn't a super huge deal this early in the game's life, it's only going to get worse as people branch out more and more the longer they have the game. Let me queue specifically as Kabal/Jade, mess around in training while queuing, pop up the usual match found window to accept, and bring me right to the match loading screen from training. We both find out who is being played at the same time and bash each other's faces in per the standard. It's a LOT more interesting to see who is good at specific characters instead of as a profile. This gives an incentive to truly master a character and their matchups instead of running to Scorpion/Erron/Geras/etc. after losing a match.

Also, remove W/L ratio and %win chance being visible to opponent. That's just silly.

I agree, it should all be tied to the character. If I get shao Kahn to level 100 or whatever I should have all his skins and gear unlocked. Like the cod4 progression system, level up and get a new item. That way you’re not getting gear for characters you never use.

Oh no no no. There's a reason I crossed out the "choose which character to fight" thing. I think that's nonsensical and defeats the entire purpose of playing a fighting game. I just want matchmaking to be focused more on players' character mastery.

EDIT: The point is that if I end up against a Scorpion while queued as Jade, so be it. Shit's gunna happen. What I want to STOP happening is seeing my opponent go over to pick a character, see I locked in Jade, then go back to Scorpion. Those people can eat a bag of dicks.

Figures .... anyway, all suggestions in this thread , from all TYM members , are welcome .... we criticize what we think is wrong with KL, because we enjoy and like the game, and so, we want the same to evolve for a better stuff, so, yeah, keep going with more suggestions, fellows ! :joker:

Pretty much all of my major gripes have already been addressed, so I have a more minor point.

Does point decay apply to all ranks? If so, it'd be nice if they did what Overwatch does and only have points decay once you reach, say, Demi-God. It just seems strange how the game basically punishes you for taking a break/vacation for a few days regardless if you're God or Warrior.
 
I think the win streak bonus should change from giving XP, which is useless, to giving bonuses to points gained in the KL. For instance, if you're on a two game win streak, you get a 10% bonus, a five game gets you a 20% bonus, a seven game gets you a 30% bonus. This would allow for the top players to move out of the lower ranks more quickly at the beginning of the system and give them a way to speed up the grind in the higher tiers if they're playing well.

The point decay shouldn't kick in until the very top tiers, since that's when the rationale they used to justify having it would apply.

Lower the option to decline high pings to 100 or so. 150 seems to be in the really laggy range.

Do something about the disconnects. I don't know if their software allows them to flag which player's connection disconnected, but if so, make the guy have to wait five minutes before starting the next match. Slightly annoying to people who happen to have something go wrong with their internet from time to time, but limits the number of matches the plug pullers can actually play in.

This is my favorite idea. I want to be able to fight people who are willing to finish a match every now and then.

Joined a wifi match 68 ping raised to over 300 after I won the 1st match.
Wifi scum need to be forced to player matches, no excuses they make adapters and 100+ ft ethernet cables.

They have already alienated their player base forcing shit connection on people, Iook at player rooms around this time in injustice 2 and mkx close to 4 rooms would be filled now its lucky to have 40 in 1 room
