YESSSSSSSS they need to make this happen.. VEG with the check holy fuck!!
That would make him instantly high mid tier XD

Aside from viability, I can't believe how much Kano dropped from MKX to MK11 fun factor-wise. All 3 of his variations were so fun in MKX. Those Cybernetic corner combos were about as good as it gets. I really, really enjoyed playing him.

He's not fun to me whatsoever in MK11 (to be fair, that can be said about nearly the entire cast). Obviously, pro players aren't as concerned about how fun a character is. I doubt anyone truly enjoys doing F212 endlessly with Geras.

Biohazard is a great player and I hope he can find a character that clicks.

I agree, characters in this game are easy and quick to learn. What makes a character fun to play is really about loving the character and their personality, IMO.

No surprise he did. Jax does what Kano is meant to do but in a safer, more damaging and harder to deal with way.

If the other guy doesn’t know shit about Kano, he can maybe work, as long as it is not Erron Black just auto piloting his way in the matchup.

If the other guy knows what to do against him, but lacks the execution to actually do it like fuzzying his mix, it is already extremely hard.

Now if he knows what to do and actually does it Kano is reduced to D1xxBall and D1xxCmd Grab.

Basically everything he has is unsafe, and at the same time, everything he has is gimmicky as hell. He has no good mids, no real mixups, no way to stay safe, nothing. He risks his life for every touch, and mosts touches are not worth it.

Right? MKX Kano's variations were fucking textbook, if there was any way to execute a variation system, that was it. 3 distinctly different variations that were all viable for their own reasons.
Now what do we have? A variation that gives him his only viable launcher, useful strings and a command grab, and another variation that's just random shit thrown together for no rhyme or reason.

unlike Tekken or Street Fighter, NRS games never reward you fir sticking with low tiers. The gaps between tiers are much more abysmal than in other games.

Pretty much what most of the characters feel like except for the top tiers.

The concept of Kano they talked about in his reveal Kast as kind of a YOLO character with high risk leading to high reward was a good one, but it wasn't implemented all that well. The rewards don't seem to be worth the risk and he's just lacking in tools as compared to the characters he's playing against.

If someone doesn't know the match up, you can do lots of dirty stuff with him and it's great and it's fun. However, once they do, it becomes clear that all that stuff is just kind of gimmicky and not actually hard to deal with. He needs ... something.

The boi needs some MILK, I mean, mids.

If you've seen Bio play at tournaments then you'll know he's an absolute beast with Kano and his reads are next level. Him dropping Kano was simply a matter of time, ultimately this isn't just messing around for competition standard players, this is their career. Why would you hamper yourself potentially losing tournament earnings and sponsors just to play an underwhelming character.

I love Kano for the rotten bastard that he is, but he still sucks compared to and vs. the majority of the cast. Then again, I only play to shit on Scorpions in kombat league so it doesn't much matter for me.

I love Kano. I think you guys have figured that out by now lol.

But I honestly agree with Biohazard 10000%. Kano isn't worth it if you want to realistically place in a major. He's just not. With persistence you could make anything work, I know this well, but it's just different if you are competing with more stakes on the line.

Low tier in this game isn't as bad as it has been in other NRS titles, but Kano IS LOW TIER.

He just loses way too many of his matchups and other characters do what he does better, and more importantly, safer.

I've fought tons of top players already and I've fought character specialists with every character hundreds of times already.
Here's my matchup chart for Kano for some context after all the experience I've had:

Kano could still realistically win any of his bad matchups if he has enough experience, but these are my estimations at the highest level.

Unlike Tekken, Street Fighter, or any other fighting game for that matter, Kano is so bad and unbalanced that using him at high level is just stupid. Dan from SF is the only other exception due to how bad he is. Anybody that's good can make any character work. As someone else said here, Biohazard used Ferra/Tor in MKX and dominated. Other than his long range NJP, Ferra had shit. NRS even nerfed Kano's command grab. Like what the hell!? NRS needs to lay off the shrooms and start playing their own damn game. The only reason why I use Kano is for his accent.

This. Exactly this.

As someone who has made it into God Rank with exclusively Kano, I could agree wholeheartedly that if someone knows the matchup well the match literally becomes me cycling risky gimmicks for the win.

Does it still work at times? Of course. In the end, it's just not nearly as good as what others have to offer though.

I tried to throw a yo-yo away. It was impossible.
Ya know what. Even though he's not top tier, I don't feel like I'm ever outmatched against my opponent. Like, I feel like he can win any matchup, unless it maybe a good zoning variation. Yes, he may have to work extra hard and that may not equal tournament success, but man when your firing on all cylinders with him, is it sooooo much fun to win with him.

It sucks that he's dropping him, it just means that someone else or one of us has to step up. I'm going to continue to play him because he's fitting my style better and I'm having fun.

Not Good Enough
As someone who exclusively mained Kano in MKX (his three variations were arguably the most different compared to all of the cast), he feels completely lack-luster in this game. Yeah, his ticks destroy people online, but against someone like Tekkenmaster? Fat chance conditioning him with a risky setup that can be crouched or OS’ed. Bio is smart dropping him if he wants to be a Kompetitor. Hopefully our Black Dragon Kingpin can get some love in a patch, no matter how much people want to say, “Kano is fine.”

That's sort of exactly how I feel. It just feels good to win with him for some reason.

Bomb Setups & Ball Rolls(Mileena/Cyrax)
If Bio gave up on Kano that's enough to say Kano won't give you good odds for the W in high level play. Remember his MKX F/T pre-patch, it was insane and he mopped with that obviously low tier. Bio isn't one to quit with his main and that tells me players at a higher level have OS or easy counters to his main gameplan. I have a somewhat hard time vs good janos with Shang but I think its about even. There are plenty characters that do what he dies but better in every way (Jax) and that's who I think Bio will use.

JTC

ABILITY TO FREEZE
This goes to show that NRS needs to take another hard look at their character design and what they want out of them. Kanos problem is that he doesnt have a cohesive design. Just a bunch of different moves that dont mesh well with terrible frame data.

Their whole stripping of character moves to create the illusion of variations clearly isnt working. They really need someone onboard who understands fighting games.

Terrible times breed terrible things, my lord.
It's the right call. He's just plain not very good at all in this game. Hate to say it but he's just poorly designed and feels awful to use.

I was so hyped to play him when this game came out. Then after a few sessions in the lab I had instant feels from mkxl cyber and commando Kano. That this dude is going to have the hardest of times months down road with or without a patch.

He's like mkx kenshi at this point. Just awkward and forced to play unsafe with high risk and little reward.

Kano mains are better off with other characters who have a significant better chance at not working so hard for a W.

Dan is my main in USFIV and I've ended up maining Kano in MK11 so that comparison is a nice coincidence for me. At least with Dan I had a stronger fundamental understanding of how the game worked before sticking to him. I've played MK11 for long enough now that I ought to get a feel for someone else. Kano is still a load of fun, though.
