I played my first online kasual matches today and it went better than i expected. But there was one jade and she kept hitting with random d2's and i got hit almost every time lol. And i got thrown allot because i play to passive and block to much i think. Anybody got some tips?

Were you jumping at jade when eating d2s? Or was she just doing it? If you were jumping, stop. Jade has the best AA button in the game with her d2 and her b2 wiggle stick is good for jumps that are from further away. You just don’t jump at her.

If she was just doing it, then you’re using either high attacks at the wrong times, or you’re using slower startup moves too close. What character do you play? Was there a situation where you ate d2s consistently?

And yes, you’re not going to do well by just holding block. You have to understand when it’s your turn which means you have to understand frame data. If you block a d1, you have to respond with a d1 or whatever to get frame advantage but then actually use it by using a mid or throw to take your turn. That’s just a small example.

You need to practice teching throws. One thing to know is that most people will try and throw you towards the corner. Throws are 50/50s between front and back and front throw requires 2 or 4 to tech and back takes 1 or 3 to tech. Pay attention to screen position and know that they’ll mostly want to corner you so react to grab with the tech assuming they’ll throw to the corner. Some people will do the opposite to land the throw and because characters have Krushing Blows tied to incorrectly teching throws you need to know that they want to land the KB.

Go to training mode and make the AI dummy do the same string 2x but between them do a forward throw and after the second same string do a back throw. Then, randomize the playback of the 2 strings followed by diff throws and practice the timing of techs. You’ll still get grabbed but if you see throw escape message at least you know you timed it right.

The best way is to play matches and tech throws, jump them and neutral duck them. There’s situations where it’s obvious people want to throw you so bait it and duck and punish.

Thank you for your reply, i played Liu Kang and i didn't jump at her she did it at random so i need to be more careful with my high attacks than?
I rewached the match and you are right i kept missing my turn after jabs i blocked. And i think maybe also when she blocked my string where i stay in the plus but then started blocking. (Sorry for my english)
Very helpful stuff. Thank you, i wil go to the lab
