Let's be honest guys, the current state of the game online is way worse than it was on release.
Other threads have discussed from ways to fix it, to others sharing the same opinion. However we are dangerously close to the Kombat League meeting its second planned release date and the game is not in a good spot. Despite not having any details the clock has not been extended despite the online issues surfacing since the recent patch. Games that were once playable on even 150 ping (as even 100ping is basically close to offline.) are like wearing ankle weights. WiFi games are suffering random disconnect symbol flashings for a minimal packet loss. Liu Kang's kick string is borderline god tier online against a even slightly laggy match because the Flawless Block mechanic is too difficult to pull off when dealing with this. If the leaked "details" about rankings are true, it basically means that this will allow an artificial amount of players getting higher rank by abusing these tactics. It's bad enough that we're locked into under 149ms games, when even 70+ms games feel over 150.
The game's ranked system is slowly dying w/ the ELO system not being that important right now. Most players are slowly moving on to private sets w/ those they networked with because taking a gamble with joeschmo2000, losing then have them trash talk until next monday is not worth it for a lot of higher level players. I'm willing to wait until they address the lag issue first with a patch and then release the Kombat League. It's going to leave a lot of people sour (more than they already are about it.) if the League has higher value in W/Ls and lag & stutter being too strong of a factor with this current netcode.
What do you guys think?
