Secondary Characters

Hey guys! I was wondering who your guys' mains are and then who your secondary fighter is. I am trying to find a secondary fighter to play when I'm not playing Kabal. I'm curious who you guys play and whether you play them because you just like the character or because they compliment your main's weaknesses. Let me know! :)

.... they mostly come at night. Mostly.
Main - Sonya - Reason: cause I like it
Secondary - Skarlet - Reason: cause I like it

But, as Van Damme said to his Shidoshi once : "never limit yourself to only one style" :p, so, I get bored easily and try to fight with a new character every 2 weeks .... now training with Baraka and Raiden !

Secondaries: Kano and Jacqui's second variation

Johnny has been a stable since MK9. Kano too. I really like Jacqui's second variation, plasma setups er hella funny

I feel that I am absolutely loving Kabal but I really enjoy learning new characters

Main: Scorpion. He's my boy in every MK.

Secondary: Kollector/Kabal/Cassie

I also still want to learn Noob, Sub, and (potentially) Jacqui eventually. I really like to have 5 or 6 characters I can go between depending on match-up, mood, etc. while focusing harder on 2 or 3.

Secondary: Sub and Jade. Still playing a variety of others though. Not sure if these 3 will even end up on my final roster by the end of MK11's life.

How do you like Kollector? I was thinking about learning him because he's a cool character and not very popular.

How do you like Sub and Jade? Sub looks like a solid character but is he actually fun to play? I love Jade's look but in tournaments she seems like a very defensive character which isn't how I like to play.

I actually like him a lot. His forward dash is surprisingly quick, he has a couple of good KBs, and his combos are super fun. I'm pretty sure everyone is saying he's lower-tier, but he's a blast.

Plus, he's the weirdo of the game, which is always fun.

That's sweet. I might have to try him out. I like characters like that.

Main: Cassie because I like her play style. It's very lame and Justin Wong-esque. I also like her personality and kicking people in the nuts. I also played her in MKX, the little I played it.


Alt: I wanted someone who could RTSD and went with Liu Kang because he has flashy combos, great up close pressure/staggers, uses mostly one string (simple is good for alts for my stupid brain) and he can DESTROY you in the corner if you guess right with a parry on a wake up attack.

Main: Skarlet, she has a little of everything I want in a character. Zoning, mid range, and some combo shenanigans

Secondary: Jacqui/ Sonya; its more of a counter pick than a secondary.

Well I'm a defensive player at heart, which makes it even weirder that I settled on Jax so far. But yeah, Sub is boring af. It's the first game that I haven't liked playing as Sub even tho he's my all time favorite mk character.

Secondary: Johnny Cage- I just love Johnny as a character and he always fights with a lot of kicks, flips and style, but I also like him in contrast to Jade as a more aggressive footsie character. He seems to do better versus Scorpion from my observations though.


Sometimes a good secondary doesn't even have to have match up applications if they provide a different play style and perspective for you. Sometimes it will make you get better or appreciate your main even more, Cage did that for me and Jade :).

Oh that sucks. I really like his look in this game which was tempting me to play him

II find Jaqui's second variation really interesting. Haven't messed around with it enough to ID any situations for it beyond dome and throw KB. But it's just cool I think.

But I main Kano and second Skarlet. Have started messing around with Raiden as well.

In fighting games I limit myself to learning just two characters. I like zoners so I play Cetrion and Skarlet. I don't feel like these two characters offer anything different, they are just fun to me. I would like to settle on just one of them though, and then grind it out :)

(Am looking forward to Sindel, she might blow these two out of the water)

Scorpion will always be my main because he is my favorite character, there have been very few games where I preferred someone else over him.
As for the secondary character(s) they always vary from game to game. I would like to pick and stay with my other top favorite characters but they don't quite match my playstyle sometimes, and that's what I mostly focus on for the secondaries. Kabal, Noob, and Baraka in this game all feel really good to play, being solid mid-range type characters which is the playstyle I like the most.
