One and Dones all day

This is my first time ever being part of the online experience for a fighting game at the very beginning of its life cycle so this question may be easily answered by you more experienced people.
But what is with all the one and dones in casuals? Literally every other person I play gives it one match and then quits win or lose.
I see a lot of big lopsided records out there with tons of wins but when I play them the have no skill so I’m sure those ones are just trying to build a giant record cause they think it means something. But this game is already frustrating enough not knowing any of the matchups it’s hard to get good sets in to start to know these matchups. Anyone else having the same problem?

I get these people:
Lose match and quit
actually has fun and plays a few rounds, jokingly disrespecting one another
and Achievement hunters (we found out there is a teabag 100 times in a match achievement) and switching sides 50 times
(back to screen then chest then back again)discos not dead achievement.

I play a lot of Kasual matches w/ random people on PC where neither of us have a mic. I never know when it's polite to leave a match so I usually just wait for them to do it. Are they having fun getting 10-0'd / beating me ten times in a row? When they go to switch character are they expecting me to switch as well? If I leave a good session after 12 matches, will they think I suddenly became salty?

lot of anxiety at the rematch screen lol. Haven't gotten any messages at all on PC though.

Me personally I like playing a ton of matches with the same person as long as we keep clicking rematch. It’s fun to learn the matchup if I’m losing and it’s fun to see the person I may beat over and over finally learn how to play against me and switch the gears. Sometimes it’s a mix of both and I like to play against someone who has an even record with me (We lose and win about the same amount in sets). If someone is doing one and done it’s likely you’re playing a character that isn’t fun to play against or using frustrating tactics. I only leave if it’s a matchup I am terrible in (I main Jax and noob matches are stupid unfun since I can’t get in) but I’ve never one and done

Kasual has been a mixed bag for me. And unfortunately, too many people decline matches. But I'm glad when I run into people that give me sets.

This. IMO, playing only one match doesn't mean much. Everybody has their own playstyle. One match is not enough to fully adapt.

lol you overthinking it. Generally it's polite to rematch at least once. after that whatever rules you want to follow are your own. That said I hate getting fatalitied more than once since some are fairly long. Got up on a guy that did that and mercied him. He immediately quit lol

I think one and dones in most cases is someone’s way of building a record. Which is fine if someone’s that careful about their casual record and it means something to them I guess go for it? But for people that are competitive trying to learn character match ups it’s a pain in the ass when you play someone that is decent with a character that can push you and they dip wether they win or lose. Obviously it’s best to try and get long sets with a friend or someone to learn a match up but those people aren’t always available when you are. Personally I think one and dones are lame and a way for someone to get in and out with losing and or showing too much of what their game plan is with a character

if you want a set play ranked. now that ranked is best of 5, there are no more one trick ponies anymore. biggest improvement over any other fighting game.

I do have to agree there. The way they made ranked a mandatory 1st to 3 was genius. And I’ll probably only play ranked once the game has been out long enough and I know all the match ups. I just like using casuals to see what general strategies are being used by certain players with certain characters then take that to the lab and see how to counter it.

Or … it's to get more variety in the game and see what different people are doing? That was kind of an odd analysis of the motivations.

don't kid yourself. who waits for a match with good connection, just to leave after one match? most people don't want to lose. their ego lets them watch the loading screen more than playing the game.

This has been a rampant issue since MK9. It wouldn't be one at all if NRS would remove the ability to see player's records but I suppose that would make too much sense

Also I'm pretty sure if someone winquits you in ranked they get the W but you don't take an L unless all 3 matches have been lost. Correct me if I'm wrong

This is seriously annoying. Why find a new opponent if you're already in a game with someone of equal skill and a good connection!? Maybe players could be given some kind of 'good player' rank based on how frequently they rematch/don't rage quit etc so I can avoid these people.
