They revealed KP1 before. They had that trailer where it was dark and the characters come out of the shadows. It was March 23rd, 2015 and the Game dropped in April

Not sure what they did with MK9. But the Kombat Pack was revealed before launch for MKX and the first Fighter Pack was revealed before launch for Injustice 2.
