Biggest take away from the Cage Kombat Kast

No surprise considering they're so responsive to feedback, plus Ed wasn't a fan of the change. Still cool, though.

Terrible times breed terrible things, my lord.
My biggest take away is the fact that Kano will be shown next week. No. Question.

As for Johnny "Mr. Hollywood" Cage.

I like the that the base move of his projectile is straight now instead of the arch he's had since MK2.

Shadow uppercut is not a base move?!

He can Kara cancel his FB into added pressure. No other character this far has been shown to do that.

No OH mix-ups unless amplified. I seriously thought that's would be a staple thing for Johnny.

I'm not sure if all his strings were revealed today but from what we've been shown his mix-ups to get in looks like it relies on mids and a few lows to get things started once he's in.

His advancing normals seem ok. Nothing to write home about. They don't look too janky.

Mime parry and amplified mime parry looks strong. Loses to lows?

I feel they could've shown more Johnny Cage but meh. In time we'll have him so...

The VGX burn was my highlight.

Again I'm super excited for Kano. I hope he gets a trailer for mk11 too.

My thoughts. I'm seriously considering spending a lot of time learning him. With has much as the wow factor with his simple buttons he has. He looks very honest in the neutral. Looks like he's built to punish buttons and free jump in's. Johnny is still the wall he's always been for years and years. Looks crazy but he also looks like he's built with fairness in mind. I can't wait to try him out.

He looks pretty dope

It’s not right trigger, but right bumper (R1). Here is the discussion already going on:

https://testyourmight.com/threads/amplified-ex-mb-moves-—-universal-inputs-are-back.68278/
Well, I assume that whether it's right bumper or trigger or anything doesn't matter because we can map the moves to custom as in previous games. So the fact that it isn't a different button and input for every character means that, hopefully, we can map it to whatever we want.

For example,

I have never used RT for block. I always map it to LT. Because I'm used to holding LT for things like aiming down sights in shooters.

THATS NOT WHAT A KARA CANCEL IS

I think his presentation is on a new level. Every aspect of him is dripping with personality. Them playing up the Hollywood actor aspect was a great direction for him. That actually inspired my first wrestling gimmick.

His gameplay looks good too. Probably one of the first characters I'll be looking at, along with Kano.

I do think his breakdown showed an issue with the game design though. They billed him as a footsies character with good projectiles, but that seems to be almost everyone.

Every kit has an advancing, hit confirm high, an advancing mid that cant be hit confirmed, a low or overhead that combos, and a low or overhead that doesnt. Then theres a stun move, a projectile, and an advancing special. Usually one move covers two of those categories.

What a day. What a lovely day.
Was his flip kick a base move? I don’t know if it was actually said or not.

Biggest take away for me is that Jonny gets Fetal Blow Cancels when his blow is up... this means a few things..
  • When blow is up he has MKx style cancel pressure. As he now has cancels.
  • The cancels are only available when FB is available and it is actually the FB you are canceling. So Jonny Mains will all be holding FB to the last possible moment.
  • The Saved FB and the Cancel pressure means Jonny will be a comback king. This is like red damage but built into the game systems rather than just getting a lame damage buff. So he gets FB up... he can start heavy cancel pressure and end a combo in a FB to close the round for high damage. This leads me to thinking he is going to be one of the hypest to watch on stream at majors.. as he will have the combacks and end of round mega damage.
  • Not a single other roster slot has a FB that can be canceled. So he is unique.
These are by far the most interesting info from the kast for me. It really brings jonny into a new light and gives a glimpse on how his meta may function. High execution players with crispy cancels are going to show us some god level games imo.

Doubt it since Fatal Blows aren’t wakeups and don’t have armor on start up.

There’s videos of people getting hit out of it.
Yeah you're probably right but I was thinking it might have enough cancel advantage off something where the opponent's interrupt would hit armor

I think they’ll change the way FB recovers after failed attempt to use it. Also FB cancel is bullshit, literally. They should either prolong the time when he can use it again or take that annoying shit away

You are supposed to wait until you can actually play the game to whine
