Official Gear Discussion Thread

This thread will be for any and all gear discussion. Whether it's complaints (keep it civil), praise or showing customized outfits for other people to maybe use. Or speculating what kind of gear they may have.

The thread will obviously not really take off until possibly the beta (I don't know if we'll be able to customize the characters' looks) or until the game releases.

I look forward to what is to come.

So far I'm really looking forward to the gear system and I love how you can implement the offline buffs to them yourself instead of having rigged stats to the gears.

The hair customization for the female characters could be a 4th gear. I would love to see Kitana in her MKX alt outfit (if it's in the game) with her MKDA hair. Or, ehem, Skarlet with long red hair.

Hopefully every female character has some sort of burqa outfit, as appears to be the case with Skarlet and Jade.

I find it hilarious how toned down everything is since MK9 - I get that some of those were ridiculous, but talk about going from one extreme to another.

I just want to reiterate that I hope Sub-Zero's third gear slot is changed:

It's just some stupid kunai/shuriken that he never ever uses and doesn't add anything to the character while being almost invisible. Wasted opportunity.

There are some way better options:

- A second ice weapon (after the weaponry diversity he had in the past, using 100% axes only seems boring, even other characters create multiple weapons too).

- Iceball form. Spiked, rugged, crystaline...

- Grand Master medallion. It already had multiple designs and is related to enhancing his powers.

I'm looking forward to the customization they added in Mk11. One hope I have is being able to make one of the characters resemble or look like Raziel from legacy of kain soul reaver. I know its very unlikely but there still might be a chance..

That option is pretty shit, but he doesn't have the medallion on any skins in this game. Methinks Frost has it.

Bruh, they're ninjas so they wear hoods and masks just like the male ninjas. I don't see the problem, the player model still looks great. And knowing NRS, they'll probably have the classic costumes in there too.

Supers video is the best, but its unfortunately already inconsistent with stuff we've seen on the Kombat Kasts and it's very long and dry. But literally, he goes through every single piece of customization (including the moves all you "3 variations will be enough" non-believers) in the reveal build. Don't worry, he stops talking about 6 minutes in.


Dynasty's video is similar to Super's but he's mostly just customizing the guys in the build, no talking just the items.


Since it was the impetus for this thread, this is K&M's vid which is more about the gameplay, but does better explain the FULL customization / variation system than Super's vid and does so with K&M's signature brilliant analysis.

Just want you guys on my hype level!

There is literally a 0.0% chance that any character's gear slots will be changed at this point.

Talk about a shitty opinion. Those "burqas" you are talking about, make these characters seem real and not some porn star trying to fight like it was in MK9. MKX had this dumb discussion too, and its idiotic as hell. Not to mention its not a burqa.

You answered the guy saying "I said "some sort of" " but yeah, that doesnt change how dumb your comment is. Keep religion and your shitty /pol/ politics and photos out of my favourite game franchise and community. I'm saying this as a religious person. No religious person wants their religion represented on a video game. No one cares. Except people like you. You shouldnt waste time on dumb stuff like this too, go do something useful instead of whining on "how covered women are in a video game" its pitiful

I'm just not interested in your rant, and particularly if you feel the need to point out that you're religious. I was only commenting on the ultra conservative-looking nature of the female characters. You're seriously reaching here - I don't know why you've gone off on a tangent like that. I'm not trying to attack cultural garments of any kind (burqas, which I agree was a poor choice of label, are not a religious garment and are not required by the Quran - though this is a separate topic and not one I wish to discuss here).

Just take a step back, please. That's all I ask.

Saying "FUCK OFF" before posting this good reply is not the smartest way to do that. If you have posted this, I would've done so.

I will, but I cant bring myself to not point that out before leaving, I really should've not replied to you the moment I saw how dumb your comments was. And, "ultra conservative-looking nature of the female characters" but this shit is dumb as hell. Find some good topics, not ones like these... Sorry dude, I guess I really made a big mistake by ranting against a guy like you
