Don't Panic, Have Some Faith In NRS!

I've always been a rushdown player, never liked zoning, never liked playing against zoners but i accepted the fact that zoning is something that i need to learn to deal with (in moderation) if i want to continue considering myself an above average player, however, here is why you shouldn't even be worried about the alleged zoning meta you think will dominate the game:

We've only seen 5 from 25 characters, from the looks of it, Liu Kang, Kung Lao and friggin KABAL look like they will most likely be playable characters. Do you really think those characters ,who've always excelled at being up in your face 24/7 without giving you a smetheren of a breathing room, will just somehow get kept out and away by whatever means of zoning there is??

Besides this game is completely different, for the 1st time, there is no actual reward for zoning other than safety. no crazy meter builds nor infinite breaker simply because both of those two mechanics are gone, All you gotta do now is work your way in and do what you do best from there.

Also i want to emphasise that NRS listens to the community, The vast majority of players wanted the mk9 experience back and NRS listened and did just that with MK11 but with some added elements from injustice. Therefore i highly doubt that mk11 meta will boil down to fullscreen zoning fest after the huge stink that was made about it in injustice2. Not going to happen.

tl;dr~ zoning is a reality you need to accept, but it wont be a dominating reality. There will be characters who fly over zoning, crawl under it, teleport behind it or flat out walkthrough it Jason Voorhees style. Guaranteed!!

Keep calm and let Mortal Kombat Begin!

I don't think people realise that there's so many reasons zoning won't be as powerful in this game. Smaller screen sizes, lack of meter, the fact that per traditional MK, characters have teleports and slides, weakish projectile damage. Once you're in you're in, there's no incentives to zone anymore beyond trying to chip away at a health bar, and since mb roll, push block or breakers aren't a thing, if you corner someone it's not like they can just get you off them for free.

Unfortunately scrubs see any type of projectiles and foam at the mouth, I do think there are some things that could be tweaked, but as a whole zoning doesn't look like some undefeatable force so far, and it never was in Injustice anyway.

Let's not throw out the word "scrubs" now, We want mk11 to be a game that brings all MK fans to the table. Like Brady said just now, MK11 shouldn't be marketed as "old schools OGs vs new generation anti-zoners", The fgc is divided enough as it is so instead let's aspire to make mk11 a game that all mk community gets to enjoy.

If you like zoning i hope you'll get your strong zoner character(s) that can keep away for days, If you don't like zoning i hope you'll get your own strong offense character(s) that allows to work around zoning and enforce your own game. It shouldn't be my way or no way.

I'm glad this game is focusing on neutral and forcing players to actually work around and lab matchups. My initial reaction to Raiden was 'holy shit that lightning looks straight busted', but then what happened? Sonic Fox adapted and took control over the set by playing patient and anticipating his opponent.

Was it as easy as it might have been in MKX or Injustice? No. But I'm glad this game is paced that way.

It's clear that NRS is seriously redeveloping everything we knew about MK. I'm on board.

Get your guns on. Sheriff is back.
Every NRS game from Injustice to MK11 has the initial naysay surge because they always do something very different mechanically with each game. In Injustice it was the interactions and loss of blockdash, in MK10 it was runs, in Injustice 2 it was...well hell a lot of stuff.
And every time once folks PLAY they realize that NRS still makes the kind of games that are fun and deep enough for them to obsessively pour themselves into that they try to master them just like last time.

Its as guaranteed as every other fighting game series fan saying that NRS animations are jank every game whether they are any better than the jank in their own games or not. Some folks will only focus on what they didn't enjoy when they post is all I'm saying. Focus on what you enjoy and avoid kneejerk reactions and wait till you play to give feedback.

The game looks good, the game is designed to favor footsies above all else.
The Fatal 8 just shown some gameplay but definitely not everything the game has to offer.

Flawless Block is going to make a huge impact in this game, as well as everything movement wise such as the hop who crushes lows.

The way the game is designed with how the meters are and the Fatal Blow it deviates away from anyone knowing already how so smack in this game.

TO higher levels the meta is going to be extremely different from what we've seen yesterday, just saying.

If they listened we wouldn't have variations back and tag team would be back.

I also think they would have revealed Fujin and said we listened to our fans.

I didn't see any threads asking for Baraka. He's my favorite in game so far. He's a pleasant surprise!

As a Stryker player i know for sure that man characters have many ways around zoning. And even if they dont you just have to be smart and corner them with walking and blocking or jumping at right times. A zoner's mental purpose is to frustrate dont let it get to you. Dont walk into the punches.

Everyone and their nephews wanted variations back as far as i know, i didn't, but the majority did. Tag team was a meme request, Most ppl were against tag team being added competitively but were okay with it casually.

Baraka was among the characters ppl were begging for his return during the life of mkx, but instead we got Alien and that didn't go very well. Even Boon said they brought him back because he was a fan favorite, ppl didn't even get to play him much in mk9 because he was never meta for the most part of the game's life. I for one am super hype they added him in mk11.

As for Fujin, I understand they didn't wanna give it all at once. Scarlet and Baraka was big of a pleasant surprise on their own, Am sure they are saving Fujin reveal and many other highly demanded characters on the community's wish list for later dates. They want to maintain the hype up until release which is a very typical marketing strategy, just set back and wait.

Flawless Block is going to make a huge impact in this game...
This! Somehow people keep forgetting about Flawless Block, and we haven't had a chance to really see it in action. I imagine projectiles will be easier to FB than strings, especially if the opponent is throwing them out predictably. I can't imagine it will take long before full-screen projectiles lose much of their effectiveness.

Am really anticipating a character that can parry projectiles just like TMNT in ij2 or even smoke in mk9.

i agree people should relax, give their feedback to nrs accordingly, but i'm not gonna listen to someone who misspells while also using "=3."

Is there any way in which a pancake could be considered superiour to a waffle? Waffles have all those nooks and crannys for the butter and syrup to go.
