Guide Setting up bane's f3 crossups

A rather overlooked area of bane and his potential lies in his f3 crossup properties. This is mostly because it's hard to set up and often drops some damage. It's also considered gimmicky, but it's worth doing which I'll explain later.

Here I'll explore all the crossup options I believe are possible for Bane. The ones you want to look out for are those that are untechable, wakeup input reversing, or both.

Keep in mind that a lot of these setups are already wakeup safe (for most characters), but if you wanna take that extra step and be sure, you could burn meter.

Midscreen:

22 bounce cancel dashup is expensive but worth it as hell in endgame moments. It's ambiguous as fuck, can be done after long juggles (so you're not dropping much damage), and is untechable. Furthermore, it's stylish.

My personal favorites are background bounce crossups (I consider it a legitimate vortex situation), d2 insta j2, and j3.

Corner (I messed up when recording, one of them is still midscreen):

Both b113 and 223 look like they don't cross up, so don't hesistate to try it twice on an opponent.
Keep in mind that ALL midscreen setups can be used the exact same way in the corner.

WHY Crossup F3s Are Worth Using

Sure, many of these setups are gimmicks. That said, a lot of even great players have never seen these before, giving you a chance to pull off a win or lose situation by trying one of these setups out.

The setups that are not tech rollable are not at all gimmicks and I consider them real tech. Why?

Let's take the untechable setup off the background bounce for example. If you're using a BGB midcombo with bane and have already b3'd, it's likely you won't be dropping much damage anyway. You may as well hit them with a 33/33/33 situation; you could mistime the f3 and not cross up, cross up, or dash cancel and d1 (and tick throw them if you want to). Also consider that if you have venom and read a wakeup, you could always just cancel the f3 and go into an armored special, AND on this particular BGB setup wakeups tend to whiff.

****** Conclusion *******

When playing bane, ALWAYS consider that the greatest strength of the character is to make your
opponent fear your options when knocked down. If you drop this crossup f3 setup on them, it makes them that much more likely to make more mistakes when reading your next move, and allows you to keep them on their toes and overall keep them on the ground for longer.

Much thanks to @SHIV123_ for being the inspiration for this thread, I found out the potential of this stuff the hard way from him.

Pretty sure Lobo can punish these with wakeup Spin Cycle. But you can make that read and just cancel the f3 and punish him for waking up.

Not that you would really have to since... you know... he's Bane lol.

Exactly the case. It's still a favorable guessing game for bane the way I see it

But actually for a lot of these setups, the vertical hitbox of hookcharge can clip bane I'm pretty sure. Which would make me likely to dash cancel the f3 and double punch instead to absorb the first hit of hook charge

...anyway. You may as well hit them with a 33/33/33 situation; you could mistime the f3 and not cross up, cross up, or dash cancel and d1 (and tick throw them if you want to).....

What does a 33/33/33 situation refer to?

Usually most characters only get a 50/50 opportunity to mix up their opponent; overhead vs low. But because bane can make f3 cross up, the opponent has to guess between overhead, overhead crossup, or low making it a 33% chance they guess right and block the mixup.
