Do you have to play MK to be an NRS player?

I've never really played MK before and don't plan to. I have a mostly Capcom background, particularly Street Fighter. But I love injustice. I'm kinda on again/off again with SFV. My plan right now is just to ride Injustice out till the next MK and then just switch back to SF. Till injustice 3 lol. Really wish they could co exist, the way MVC and SF do but oh well.

Eh. I personally use "NRS player" to refer to those playing both series. That comes from the assumption that those players treat both as representations of NRS game design with different "skins" and some gameplay differences, but otherwise parts of a single line of games, "NRS games".

Kinda like tournament players and other people who follow the scene and mostly play "current" game. Otherwise I specifically use "MK players". Yes, that means I personally don't know anyone who plays Injustice but not MK.

Of course, there are more casual fans who are in for a story set in in DCU or just people who only started during Injustice phase, but I mostly mean dedicated FG players who systematically focus on Injustice much more than on MK. I personally don't know such people, but they likely exist.

Curious as to why you are against playing MK though, is it the block button or something else? That's really the only thing I can see a Capcom player liking about Injustice that is different from MK lol

From past patterns, when the next Mortal Kombat comes out NRS will stop updating Injustice and Injustice tournaments will stop happening. But if you like playing the game as-is outside a tournament setting you'll find other people who feel the same way.

I'd say above all else, play the games you love to play. Even if it's a "dead" game, odds are you can still find some people who feel the same as you and will continue to play.

he's asking if not playing MK means he's basically going to have to play 2 years on 2 years off.

The answer depends on what you're after, you will probably still find a handful of I2 players but yeah +99% of the player base will have moved on and there won't be a tournament scene for it anymore

There plenty of players who stopped playing MK9 when injustice came out and stop playing injustice when MKX came out. Did we stop calling those players NRS players? Detroit, Jupiter, Maxter, Curbo, CD, Pboard Player, are still consider NRS players to this day even though they are not playing now.

I'm confused where did I say he didn't deserve the title? I was stating that regardless of how his initial thoughts were to not think that because there plenty of other players that don't play all NRS games but still consider NRS players is all.
