Dragon Ball FighterZ Discussion Thread (Game)

I know i been kinda low-key but been going through family problems and stress with work. But Uncle JBeezY is hangin' in there.

Also, i know some of u guys reached out to play some games and haven't messaged back. To keep it ALL THE WAY LIVE, i really wanted to focus on getting better by labbing, trying characters, play story mode, and just overall level up MY gameplay before I can even play any of you. Yeah. im kinda a perfectionist, but im now more open to actually playing others. My apologies to those I haven't answered, but thought id just share that.

WITH THAT SAID, I got my orange square back which is fucking awesome! And with my 2nd team Frieza, Black, and Gotenks! So i know its a bit long, but i played a pink square with my 2nd team and the match is hype as fuck! If you like to take some time to look, maybe give some pointers, I'd greatly appreciate.

Really want to make a SSB Vegeta, Hit and Goku Black team work. Trying to lab them is a slow process since I’ve had the exact same team since launch. And Hit being such a different character he’s hard to get used to. SSB Vegeta is actually a lot better than people claim. Not saying he’s at all top tier, but he’s not trash as I’ve seen many people say. He hits pretty hard and actually has cool shenanigans and mixups especially with certain assists like SSB Goku’s assist (check out Fame96 play him, it’s anazing to watch).

I’m still satisfied with my main team, I just wanna branch out and learn new characters/teams. I’m also hyped to learn the DLC characters, hopefully they drop soon!

Oh i feel u completely changing teams when you're so used to the ppl you have used since the beta. But MAAAAN thats the beauty of this game. THERES SO MANY GOOD CHARACTERS! Hell, my 2nd team is totally different than my first, but I'm having such a fun ass time with them, I'm learning on how each character can complement each other.

I've seen Fame use the Blues, and he's pretty damn crazy with SSB Vegeta. He got that flying Tiger, Hiden Dragon flying across the damn screen nonsense that even crosses ME up! He's definitely somebody I want to try on maybe a 3rd team in the near future But did you see my match, Mr. @Juggs ? Would LOVE your honest input

There's something funny and kind of sad about running INTO a Piccolo orb just to counter it, a favorite pastime of mine vs piccolo's I face. I don't abuse it, but it has yet to fail me lol.

Does anyone know the startup frames on Hit's 2L vs the universal OHs everyone has?

Edit: I'm madly working on Beerus. Did a overnight labbing on trying various start match setups with Beerus orbs. Even my mind is still working on many other possibilities I haven't thought yet. I have done 4 orb summons in mid air.

Yo, bro. And I'm madly working myself to try to defeat Kid Buu. Every time I go anywhere and play this game, I get lots of fun. The more I play with you guys, the more I get improved.

Same, don’t think I’ve ever been so obsessed with an FG. I’m genuinely lying awake thinking about it at 4am and daydreaming at work etc. Need to get this shit in check before it ruins my life WoW style.

Only really play NRS and DB games, but this is the first DB game I’ve actually enjoyed since Budokai 3. This game destroys everything else I’ve played tho. And finally... yes, sorry mk9, move over.

Weird, I started theory crafting that exact team yesterday nothing to do with fame/sonic .

Not looking to move onto a second team yet, just planning (and desperate to include SSB Vegeta).

Could be wrong, but not sure the assist game is strong enough, for my lowly class anyways. I’d probably consider swapping ssjb Goku out for a better pressure assist. It’ll all depend on DLC when I actually get around to it.

Watched some SFV last night, just catching up on tournament stuff and man.. it's so weird. The game looks like it's happening in slow motion where Im so used to playing/watching DBFz.

This is in no way a dis sfv comment it's just an interesting contrast.

I guess i just like using him and challenge myself on how to become a really effective zoner with him. People's answers to my attacks are usually SD, so im challenging myself to become more reactive to this pattern cuz i suck at reacting with 2H. I mean, im getting better at it, but this is a weakness of mine for sure.

Also on a new team grind (only one character is new but whatever) Goku Blue Frieza and SS Goku. I just now started figuring out that Frieza's assist can be used to extend combos before you get the j2H and man Goku Blue can get some damage, it's just hard to time. Starting from either a 2M or LL I've been doing

2M, M, jML, jLMH Frieza call, jM2H, SD, jLML2H, jLLL super.
gets around 5500 damage a little less if starting from LL I've tried just doing a regular combo and using Frieza assist on that final LLL into LL236M super but it's not consistent everywhere on screen neither is LLL Frieza 236S super which was unfortunate cuz it looks incredibly cool.

Last thing I'll mention is I'm convinced SS Goku Instant transmission kamehameha DHC into Goku Blue's level 1 super is the coolest DHC in the game.

Lol no i haven't been on in couple days i had a question about vanish so I was reading every post and that one caught my eye. I chuckled.

I’m no expert, but didn’t realise there was a difference in block frames between raw/cancelled teleport.

That said, as far as grounded vanish goes. I think they are all 0 technically, but the vanisher can cancel their landing frames which makes it plus (believe I read +4 at one point)

Like I say, no expert tho, so someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

Daaaaaaaang Uncs!!! Thought you had it!! That was close af.

Few notes:

1. Lol, you can’t see Frieza at all on your win screen when he’s 3rd

2. Holy shit, 3rd hit of death saucer just after 12mins combo’d assistlessly (it’s a word, proof in the Nappa thread) because it caught him high up! I wanna learn optimal conversion from that.

3. Right at the end when you “Gold up”. I’ve noticed a trend in behaviour thus far when going gold. Approximately 69% of people hold 1 like they think you gained a full screen low. The remainder immediately yolo, I’ve literally 0 idea why. The good thing about activating at a distance, is that the sizeable chunk that superdash literally just murdered themselves, especially now you’ll be waiting for it I’ve actually started using gold a lot more towards the end (particularly if I’m haemorrhaging resources) and this is part of why. The uninitiated have no idea how to deal with gold. A nifty little lvl1 would’ve hyped out the match in your favour.

4. Your gameplay’s improved a bunch since the last vid iirc. Keep up that top dolla work! with that in mind... no offense intended, just wanna help a bro lvl up.

5. I’m a believer in keeping advice simple and addressing one thing at a time: I think your Gotenks might be a bit yolo and enjoys pressing buttons out of turn. It cost him most dearly in the first game, but once I spotted it I kept an eye out. There were times when it paid off big time, but normally when the opponent made a weird read or reacted badly. In my experience against pinks, that doesn’t happen as often as it did. Don’t get me wrong, you gotta bring the wild, but I felt your other chars did this in better measure.
