What's your training delay?

EntropicByDesign

It's all so very confusing.
DBFz uses a delay type netcode, and its damn good for what it is, but can make some matches weird.

If you didnt know, in Practice mode, you can go to "Training settings" and the 3rd option from the bottom lets you adjust the frame delay in practice to match real-world online conditions.

What do you guys favor? I typically run about 4. My matches fall between 2-3 most of the time, with 4 occasionally, any worse and the connection is usually just shitty in general and the resulting match is a mess. If I cant land the combo at 4, then I dont fuck with it in general lol.

Zero delay for offline is all well and good, but unfortunately we have absolutely no local scene, so all my efforts are aimed at not sucking in an online environment.

Just curious what you all favor.

I don't change it. I just let it rock with no delay because I prefer to play offline with my friends and I don't play online as much as I used to so it'd be training for nothing.

Fair enough. I wish I could play offline. Ugh.

Its weird too because my main training partner is like 2hrs away, and we have close to a 4f delay a lot of the time. =/

I play like once a month with Youph and Nausea etc, it's not like I'm just walking down to a local every other day :p

Doubt it’s the best approach, but I just let it rock too, despite playing entirely online thus far.

I don’t want the bad habits for when I eventually play offline.

I’ve also always learnt/played this way until delay simulators we’re added in recent years. Also find adapting to larger delays ad hoc easier than adapting to no delay having built muscle memory to compensate for delay.

Wait so they don't have a good netcode like Injustice 2? Why not?

Dang, I was thinking about getting this game too.

My frame delay is zero. Helps me with the muscle memory and the timings. The frame delay 1 by those who have gotten used to play in arcades. The others are meh, just for the online. What I'm concerning about the timings is what I see and react accordingly.

Its not terrible. Definitely not as good as Injustice 2 though.

The lack of rollback does mean you can get hit by something even though you pressed block right before and there's no system in place to reconcile this properly.

They have an excellent netcode, it's just not rollback based. Most games I play run between 2-3 frames and my main training partner is 3-4 and the game behaves beautifully, feels great, moves great, etc.

The game has some online issues but they are more based on the infrastructure, etc. And they have already rolled out a patch schedule for fixes/changes.

If you want to try the game out, don't let the netcode hold you back.

Yeah....it most definitely NOT the best online at the moment, but they have announced a patch coming soon to fix the issue guessing this week.
