Mentality of Online Players...

So, I've been running into players the last couple of days, and admittedly, some of them are very good (at least in my opinion)

But what has been driving me absolutely insane, is that if I'm playing someone, and I win three or four games in a row, then they get one win - they leave! Today, I sent someone hate mail (probably not the smartest thing to do) but he replied by saying he had beaten me, and that I should accept it and move on.

Can someone explain to me how after beating him like, 6 to 2, he has the nerve to suggest that he won? Then afterwords I try to explain that one match doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things, and things degraded from there.

Am I missing something? Because I that this is the most infuriating thing ever.

Your first mistake was sending hatemail...unfortunately, after doing that, you just look salty that he did take 1 match from you. If you didn't care about "one match"
then you woudn't have sent hatemail or posted a thread on here about said hatemail.

I know, I will admit that was a bit tacky on my part. This is just something that really bothers me. I am getting frustrated every time I lose, my opponent leaves. It's hard enough trying to find somebody to actually play with, then when you do, they pull stunts like that.

I have been pretty salty the last couple days. I know it's something I need to work on.

Sometimes people just don't want to play anymore. I don't think that deserves hatemail.
Valid point. I think this more just me being grouchy and needing to vent. I've since apologized and he seems like a cool guy, but it just happens so often that it's a sore point with me.

Edit: My hatemail was pretty much just me telling him that he was a good player, but I didn't appreciate the one match and out. I try to at least be friendly with my hate mail

damn and I thought we were going to talk online gameplay.... and i was gonna say "jump jump jump jump jump jump jump jump.... "
:)

People are people. I've done that a few times... granted I usually send a message stating "I just like to end my day on a win"

Mortal Kombat is NOT dead.
that stuff pisses me off too man, it's even worse when you play a person 10+ matches and you send then a friendly gg, and the reply with something like "you got owned noob!"
I hate the most of the Xbox live community....

i wouldnt consider this an "online" mentality, as I would a "casual gamer" mentality.

I consider myself an online player. I play online competitively, and I play offline competitively, i just play online more. People who act like this have no intention of entering tournaments online or offline, and consider the chat room games their competition. Nothing wrong with that. its just a game. it just so happens its easier to play casually online. And yes, that is frustrating sometimes

my 2 cents :p

if you won more, who cares if they leave, the highlight should be you were the victor, just enjoy your wins and move on

sometimes i'm in a situation where i want to play the game, but the person i'm playing is being a jerk. i'm trying this new thing where i play someone at least 3 times depending on how much they annoy me. sometimes i just happen to beat them when i was going to leave anyways. it doesn't look good but sheesh. i wonder how some of these online players get anyone to play them more than once.

i'm also used to playing SSFIV and my opponent switching to sagat the second match >.>

I get hatemail all the time because I'm one to leave seconds into the first round and even at the character select screen. I won't endure a laggy match where the general strategy is focused on jumping, uppercutting and lag abuse. To hell with that silly nonsense. If it's playable I stay, if not, I leave. I have over 600 disconnects lol. Sometimes when I'm bored and have free time I just spend an hour or two trying to find one playable match. I used to move the cursor really fast at the character select screen to see how laggy it was but that has been unreliable lately. Usually after I leave I get called a rage quitter. How exactly is leaving 10-12 seconds into the first round ragequitting? Oh and I auto quit when the opponent is not from the U.S.A. I WILL NOT play a match against South Americans (Brazilians, Mexicans) or Europeans or any other country for that matter. The matches are unplayable.
