Honestly, when it comes to MVC series, the broken shit makes the game fun! ITS KNOWN FOR BEING BROKEN! But i do have to agree with some of these changes like Domamu i dont even play and HATE his thorns, cross up decreased on Ultron is dope since i dont use, made Dante into a little bitch now after this patch. They nerfed EEEEEVERYTHANG hahaha. If they needed to buff somebody, they should have buffed Black Panther, because he sucks ass. His attacks barely do anything, and it takes work to hit ppl with.

Im glad they left my Monster Hunter ALONE! ;)
MH got a slight nerf it looks like, idk i don't play her, but i disagree those characters are still going to be strong as hell, just a lot less braindead.

I'm glad Chris got buffs, i might finally pick him up and play him like i wanted to and get my Resident Evil team going with Chris/Nemesis.

I didnt see the notes. I didnt want to link another forum website on this one. What was the nerf btw?

Monster Hunter

  • Draw Slash (H): Removed OTG property
  • Dodge: Fixed bug that caused Monster Hunter to dodge in the opposite direction of what was input after certain situations like hitting an opponent who is in the air with Draw Slash at close range, etc.

I do like the Dodge fix tho, because that did fuck me up. And i KNEW something was wrong with that move. BUT the Draw Slash H part.... NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! WHY REMOVE HER OTG!!! Got damnit....ugh....

Just bought this game, been interested for awhile.
One of my favourite games ever is Devil May Cry series so without a doubt I was gonna use Dante, even though he was in his own tier.
I see now he has received a whole patch list of nerfs, I still wanna use him but is he literally like worst character in the game now?

I wouldn't say the worst, but....Hulk sucks, Dr Strange is blah, and im sure there's others but Dante was SUPER broken that's why EVERYBODY was using him lol. I stayed away from becuz of the simple fact that everybody was using him. And i hate being that kind of player.

Dante is still gonna be strong guys, reality stone is still gonna be strong, the difference is that neither of the two will be "can do anything I want free" anymore. I believe this is good for the game, it just made the game a bit more balanced, it will still remain crazy as MvC game should be but more fair which is excellent if you ask me. As far as I have read raccoon, jedah, nova zero are assumed as the strongest after the patch. And space and power storms became stronger than reality.

True...i know....but in MVC i like crazy chaotic shit lol But you're right. And i hate you :)

it's all about power stone and soul stone, step up to the real gems son
Im trying...but i actually havent touched this game in a minute because im currently on IJ2 rocking Hellboy and Tekken 7 rocking Eddy Gordo.

I eventually do want to come back, especially after this surprise patch i happen to stumble upon watching Youtube on my lunch break.

But with the team I use, Haggar X Monster Hunter, the reality stone seems the most fitting to compensate for the lack of Neutral Haggar has a hard time with. But....I will try power stone next. :)

Right on, the patch in inj2 pulled me off of marvel too haha

soul stone would work with that team better than power if you're worried about neutral game, especially since it's now quicker startup than reality, power is just mad fun and lets you convert huge off any stray ass hit

Just sold inj2 is mvci a good game? What is the neutral, footsies, mix-ups, and combos like? I played mostly Kung Lao, Erron, Johnny, and Dvorah in mkx so what characters do you guys think would be a good idea to try?

Damn! lol. Soul Stone huh? Well....that does make sense, and i have used that stone in ranked before. Needless to say, its effective with my team. Probably 2nd best stone. And im sure once the patch hits, then I will definitely use that stone more.

Its crazy fun, but it depends on your type of play-style. Its really fast paced, and the tag system is endless at your disposal. Id say try it out. :)

What characters are good rushdown? I like specfic rushdown like less focused on mixups and more focused on blockstring pressure like lao and dvorah.

Power stone is great for both your characters, for one lariat into tag into power stone is an easy full combo confirm and boosts up the damage as well.
MH gets beefy combos with it as well.

Jedah, Rocket raccoon, Zero, Dante, Chun-Li. What you're looking for was mainly Dante but that's gone now (thank god) as he was a blockstring video that never ends. The others are very rushdown heavy with lots of tricky stuffy and great blockstrings.

I like zero does he play like umvc3 zero or is he way different?

He's way easier and has the same amount of BS, just a bit different. Won't take you long after you adapt to the game's engine and the different button layout.
He gets new ice followups off of specials if you release charged Buster, and his combos are way easier with how the combo engine works in this game. Sougenmu got a dirt boost coz he has fireballs that can fill the whole screen easily now.
Lightning loop is still there and even works midscreen, but people prefer to go for resets as they want to save the meter if possible.
He also got an invincible super and invincible Dp which lost most of their invincibility in the patch (it was cheap), once the patch hits we'll see how good they are, they both net you a full combo tho if they keep them somewhat useful lol.

How is neutral really played in this game or is it really dependent on team comp? How are zoners in this game my friend said zoning in this game takes actual skill where as zoning in inj2 is really simple and easy to do well with.

The actual zoners are few and far between. And it seems there's a large emphasis on specials or hypers that have long active frames to allow for lockdown which, with the active tag system, turns to rushdown and mixups. It's actually pretty fun. As long as you play who you like.

I bought this game like two days ago and haven't gotten to play it yet as I work as made it all but impossible to actually sit down with this game.

My question for everyone is are there any safe, chip damage focused characters? I'm thinking someone like Beetle in terms of safety or a set up heavy character? I'm thinking of building a team based on divergent, complimentary styles. Thanks in advance.

I was thinking Gamora and Chris or Hawkeye perhaps?

I'd watch some of the recent top 8s to answer that. The meta is basically using a long duration move or a projectile into tag for pressure and mixups. Strongest form is beam super into tag.

Zoning is hard coz the mobility is beefy unlike i2. Most characters have an airdash, fly or teleports. Plus the damage difference from zoning or getting opened up is too big.
There are some strong zoners tho. Hawkeye, Arthur, Morrigan, Strange are all good characters that can zone.

@Espio

Chip is nerfed greatly in this game, there's probably no real way to make it a viable strategy to play around. Blame MvC3 Morrigan for that lol.

Seeing as you play Beetle and played Hawkgirl like me before I'd say you'll enjoy Jedah. Mobility options, lockdown fidget spinner special, slash that cancels projectiles, diving command grab, nasty high lows and one the best jabs in the game.
His supers and slash special are all hard knockdowns so he gets lots of chances for setups.

Others that would be similar are Thor, Zero, Strange and Ultron. Gamora is a mobile gunslinger that's all about her gun special loops and goofy looking instant overheads. She's very straight forward and her OPness comes from guns not being pushblockable as well as them having piercing properties (they go through everything).
Her guns are gonna be worse next patch coz they lost the piercing but she'll still probably be super good still.

Chris is... don't bother he's not worth the time.

Lastly, with how tag works "safety" is a vague term in this game coz everything into tag is basically safe so don't worry whatever you do will be safe. The fuckin tag itself is like +21 without you doing anything lol.
Think of tag as a one button jailing run cancel. Fun times.

Pretty much nailed all of it, Espio.
Dante is still going to be strong and would fill a similar role to Jedah. Million Dollars (the gun hyper) still locks you down for a lifetime.

Don't tell me that, now I gotta play Chris lol. Gamora sounds wild, super curious to actually take her to the lab. I'll take a look at Jedah as well.

Thank you for all the info, this has been very helpful!

If you don't plan to take the game too seriously go for it, he's just very vanilla compared to everyone else but he can be an ok support.
